For my toddler Dd? Nothing fancy, just something lovely from baby Zara, for example.
I also sort of buy her new outfits to match places/the colours where we are going, to look aesthetically pleasing in Instagram photos etc..I’m weird, aren’t I 😬

On a serious note and not being patronising but I generally feel sorry for you.

All these bloody Instagram perfect pictures is not reality.

I'd much rather see a kid covered in mud then in a pretty outfit having to pose for mummy's grid.

TheGenealogist · 05/07/2021 15:09

Yay! Disposable fashion!! Start them young, how can you BEAR to wear the same thing twice??? Fuck the planet, who cares that it takes a fuckton of water to process enough cotton for outfit, it's all about the Insta-likes.

It depresses me that some people are so FUCKING SHALLOW.

HairyToity · 05/07/2021 15:09

I assume this is tongue in cheek. If such a person existed, I would find myself exasperated with the waste and future landfill. My DC wore hand me downs when little, and were no less happy because of it.

Elune · 05/07/2021 15:10

YANBU if you have the money and enjoy it. I wouldn't because I think it's a waste and my toddler DD likes to get messy, so I pick practical clothes for days out. But assuming you treat her like a normal toddler and not.a fashion accessory or a doll, then if it makes you happy and you can afford it, go for it.

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 05/07/2021 15:10

How sad that your child is a prop for online likes, what a vacuous way to live Waste your money as you wish but I hope you allow her to play and actually be a child rather than obsessing about how she presents on your grid.

TwinsAndTrifle · 05/07/2021 15:10

It is weird.

No one looks at these insta posts and thinks "how wonderful."

We think "how staged".

And me personally, I think, that poor kid, plonked in front of a cake/picture of Minnie/whatever the parent has clearly selected to get their "shot" for their own social media, all dressed up for posing for pictures when all they want to do is play.

Newchallenge · 05/07/2021 15:11

It's your first DC, isn't it?

Grin Enjoy. Don't stress. Don't waste the outfits afterwards - many families would be grateful for second-hand clothes.

She's not an accessory ! Chill out a bit , it won't make you a better mum , more likely to lead you to the psych ward long term from the pressure you are putting on yourself ( and her !)

PuffItsGone · 05/07/2021 15:13

Really odd. Surely a troll

TheKeatingFive · 05/07/2021 15:13

Well it IS good for the Gram.

It is your money OP. You can spend it how you like 🤷‍♀️

KurtWilde · 05/07/2021 15:13

If you've got the money then yeah, why not. Just remember your child is a human being though not an accessory for an insta.

Seeline · 05/07/2021 15:13

Your poor DD - what message are you giving her?

Interested to know if you would do the same if you had a son?

CupOfTPlease · 05/07/2021 15:14

@Twelvetimestwo thanks for that. I am dyslexic so I do apologise. Prick.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 05/07/2021 15:15

Yes you must.

Absolutely.

Just remember to buy a pair of matching gauntlets for yourself with every outfit.

Nobody needs to see fluffy handies on the ‘gram.

MovingtoOz1Day · 05/07/2021 15:16

Pathetic and I seriously hope this is a wind up

Seasidemumma77 · 05/07/2021 15:16

@CupOfTPlease

I'm assuming an IKEA trip you will dress her as a minion then.
This 🤣🤣🤣
vodkaredbullgirl · 05/07/2021 15:16

Do you have matching outfits too?

arethereanyleftatall · 05/07/2021 15:16

This is clearly not you, but someone you don't like who does this, and you've started a thread to add more voices to slag them off. Not nice.

TwinsAndTrifle · 05/07/2021 15:17

Really? You think it looks good on social media?

You think dressing up a child to match the decor of a soft play area is a good look?

Christing Christ.

LivingLaVidaCovid · 05/07/2021 15:17

You are clearly wealthy and have the time, money and energy to do that... which is perfectly fine.
Your daughter probably looks mega cute all the time and you get loads of nice pics

But no, most people dont bother/cant afford it.

Daisychaincarrot · 05/07/2021 15:17

Honestly parenting did so hard and shit at times, if this brings you joy and you can afford it, go for it

Seasidemumma77 · 05/07/2021 15:17

@vodkaredbullgirl

Do you have matching outfits too?
I was about to ask the same. Honestly not worth going to all that effort and not put it that little extra effort to wearing a matching outfit yourself
Summertimelostitsshine · 05/07/2021 15:18

Ok 🙈so..she doesn’t go on play dates very often, especially the last year..so once or twice per month. The outfits aren’t worn only once, they’re worn lots.
Never never awful things like leather jackets and frilly dresses, comfortable and cute really. I don’t mind if they get dirty, well, I don’t love it, but have come to accept that clothes get wrecked quickly!
All her clothes get messy fairly quickly and look old, so when I have a play date, I get emerging new.
I also buy or have sending hand from friends and pass my clothes on to charities when too small.
I might for example put her in a long, white dress if we’re going to old type buildings, so we can get some stunning photos.
I don’t always do this, but it’s sort of there at the back of my mind, on occasion.
I think lots more do this than they’ll admit.
My girl is general pretty feral in bare feet and shorts and t-shirts at home

SwimBaby · 05/07/2021 15:18

I used to change my DC’s cot sheets depending what outfit he had on so he’d be all matchy, this was over 30 years ago so long before instragram.
