Will you continue to wear a mask when they’re no longer compulsory?

I can’t really decide how I feel about it- as a pregnant woman with a tendency to get a bit sweaty in the face on warm days, I would like not to have to wear one whenever I’m inside a building that isn’t my own home. And I’m double jabbed so not at much risk. But then you’ve got people from SAGE and the BMA saying we should keep wearing them, and I’d imagine they know a bit better than Sajid Javid whose background is in finance.

What do you think?

YABU- I’ll continue to wear a mask
YANBU - I won’t be wearing a mask anymore.

Depends on where really.

I think I'll continue in the supermarket. They can be quite busy at times and lots of vulnerable people.
Can't wait to not have to wear them at school drop off and pick up though...outside, spread out etc!

Cosybelles · 05/07/2021 13:05

For me, it will depend on where I am, how long I will be there, the volume of people, time time of year, etc.

xksismybestletter · 05/07/2021 13:06

I hate masks.
I will carry one and wear one where the situation or etiquette demands but I will not voluntarily put one on.

I'm not convinced they make any difference tbc, fishing bits of damp cloth out of handbags and pockets

AJ1425 · 05/07/2021 13:06

Nope

KittyKattyKate · 05/07/2021 13:06

Hell no!

Lostinacloud · 05/07/2021 13:06

Nope - woohoo

Lockheart · 05/07/2021 13:07

This has been done to death in the coronavirus topic.

moynomore · 05/07/2021 13:07

I will in certain places: tube, crowded stores etc

SpringRainbow · 05/07/2021 13:08

It will depend really, in most situations probably not.

It really will depend on the places requirements, if others are wearing masks, and where I am/ how long I’ll be there for.

TheGenealogist · 05/07/2021 13:10

Definitely not. I only use a train once in a blue moon. I think masks in supermarkets and other shops are totally pointless.

Hamsterhands · 05/07/2021 13:10

I won't wear them in shops or at work anymore, as I'm sick of not being able to see. Nothing I have tried has stopped my glasses fogging up so I end up taking them off, and just not being able to see properly, and the pressure of the elastic gives me migraines.

The only place I will continue to wear them is in hospital for outpatients appointments or at the doctors.

mygenericusername · 05/07/2021 13:10

No.

Sparklesocks · 05/07/2021 13:11

I think I will on the tube

afaloren · 05/07/2021 13:12

Supermarkets, public transport etc probably yes. Walking to the table in a pub or restaurant definitely no!

The weirdest place I have had to wear a mask is on a rollercoaster. It was outside!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 05/07/2021 13:12

is the Earth flat?

redglobox · 05/07/2021 13:12

Hell no.

ClaudiaWankleman · 05/07/2021 13:14

No. It's uncomfortable to wear them on the tube and in the supermarket. I especially hate when my mask slips and my glasses suddenly steam up leaving me unable to see what I'm looking for or what I'm reading.

PinkSpring · 05/07/2021 13:14

No, as soon as they become optional I am not wearing them. I absolutely hate them.

However, I won't be surprised if some shops/stores chose to continue to insist on masks for either their staff or customers. Granted it won't be "law" but I guess they can choose to still continue with it although not sure if it would be enforceable. I remember the Disney Store making customers and staff wear masks about two weeks before it become "law" to wear them in stores and they refused entry to anyone who wouldn't put one on....

avocadotofu · 05/07/2021 13:14

Definitely!

Arrowheart · 05/07/2021 13:15

No

RustyFig · 05/07/2021 13:15

I will. The point about masks is the protection they offer others, not the wearer. Therefore in my view it's a way to show consideration to those who are clinically vulnerable, which I think comes above discomfort/ feeling a bit hot/ fogged up glasses (I am a sweaty faced specs wearer btw).

seadreams · 05/07/2021 13:16

Definitely on public transport. Probably not anywhere else

purplecorkheart · 05/07/2021 13:17

Honestly it will depend on where I am. Public transport or crowded places yes. I am not fond of them though and have struggled a bit with them in the heat.

cushioncovers · 05/07/2021 13:17

Nope

osbertthesyrianhamster · 05/07/2021 13:17

I'm ditching mine. I don't often use public transport but when I do, I'm not using a mask and don't care who does or doesn't.
