Did anyone else's school used to play this song at their school disco? I was 9 when this came out and remember dancing it to with everyone else, complete with hip thrusting actions Confused Hmm

I randomly remembered this and mentioned it to a friend yesterday (same age, different school) who was shocked and questioned what kind of effed-up school I went to. Did I!? Or was this an often played song at yours too!?

I remember that song but I thought Peter Andre sang it.

ChatterMonkey · 03/07/2021 06:24

I used to get all the tapes of the Now thats What I Call Music albums, and my mum freaked out about this song when it was on one of the albums!

She took it off me first, but then compromised by taking it with her to work where they had tape copier machine thingy, and recorded the whole album onto another tape, but minus this song 🤣🤣

Melitza · 03/07/2021 06:25

@RicherThanYew

Our school played it but the headmaster was a Christian gent and he asked the DJ to shout "Ice Cream" every time the word sex was sung.
If this is true its hilarious. Grin

I was at school in the 70's and remember the song
Making love on a mountain top.

yepitsmey · 03/07/2021 06:54

Yep! Primary school discos.

FakeFruitShoot · 03/07/2021 06:58

"Let me lick you up and downnn... til you say stop!"

Bloody loved the 90s. I was incredibly innocent and very childish despite all these influences!

pebble7 · 03/07/2021 07:04

I haven't heard that in years!! Yes I remember this at school discos 🤣

minniebin · 03/07/2021 07:04

Am I the only one wondering WTF Gollum is doing in that video?

I just rewatched to see Gollum 🤣🤣🤣

amysaurus87 · 03/07/2021 07:10

Yep this was played at my school discos too...along with Boom Boom Boom by the Vengaboys!

SpaceRaiders · 03/07/2021 07:42

Oh lawd that’s some 90’s cheese 🤣

Willwebebuyingnumber11 · 03/07/2021 07:44

@Hankunamatata YES!!! I used to love this one!

We had this at school disco at my small village Catholic primary 😂

Brunandcroissant · 03/07/2021 07:46

Yes. I remember the primary school/ year 6 disco also playing the "itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini" one too and think we all danced in a rather coquettish manner Hmm. At secondary school discos (year 7-9 1996 ish) the more 'gangster' or rap songs had the swear words and weed references left in 😂.

Mariposa123 · 03/07/2021 07:52

I remember at a junior school disco the DJ announcing he was going to play a song he wouldn’t be allowed to play at the infants’ one.

I remember my best friend joking that he was going to play the teletubbies; but then he played that ‘I’m horny’ song Confused we knew it was rude but didn’t quite know why!

HarrisMcCoo · 03/07/2021 07:52

Haha, yes, I remember it well 😩🙊🤣

SwanShaped · 03/07/2021 07:54

Yep. And the Let’s talk about Sex one. Never seen the video for this before. Is that a white man doing a fake Jamaican accent? Also, the lyric, ‘I gave her cuba libre and now she does anything I say’. What are with the weird naked people pretending to be rocks and trees?

HarrisMcCoo · 03/07/2021 07:54

I used to sing this 😬 Another Level?? Cringe.

Ignoring the point of the thread...

Look at the sun, the beach, people! Grin

LadyOfTheFlowers · 03/07/2021 07:56

Standard

MargaretFraggle · 03/07/2021 07:58

Yes of course.

Along with "I Wanna Sex you Up",

"I'm too Sexy for this Shirt",

Etc.

Meirou90 · 03/07/2021 08:00

Yep! We danced to it at my primary school disco. And I knew which song it was going to be before even clicking the link.

Finallybroody · 03/07/2021 08:00

I love this thread! Memories of buying a bottle of bubblegum Panda Pops for 10p and dancing to all of these songs in the 90s Grin

thedancingbear · 03/07/2021 08:01

my god, there's so much wrong with that song and video, in so many different ways:

-the white guy doing the Caribbean accent at the very beginning
-the thrusting manoeuvres
-the bit where he raps 'i won't ever leave you alone'
-his shades
-gollum
-the whole premise of the thing.

Fucking dreadful. the late 90s was a cultural wasteland

thedancingbear · 03/07/2021 08:02

That's quality parenting, right there
NellWilsonsWhiteHair · 03/07/2021 08:02

Yes! I was 9 too and it was totally normal, school disco stuff.

Now I have a 9yo of my own and am wincing at the thought. Grin

StevieNix · 03/07/2021 08:04

Yep i was born mid 90’s it was standard at any disco (school, or birthday parties in the village hall with a DJ etc)
Along with ‘thong song’ ‘I’m horny’ ‘I’m too sexy’ etc
I don’t think it’s necessarily worse than what today’s kids listen to, although the lyrics maybe aren’t quite so obviously sexual the music videos are much more ‘racy’ then they used to be. I’ve just made myself sound like such a grandma and I’m still only in my twenties Grin

SwanShaped · 03/07/2021 08:08

Oh my god thong song! I’d forgotten about that.
