Did anyone else's school used to play this song at their school disco? I was 9 when this came out and remember dancing it to with everyone else, complete with hip thrusting actions Confused Hmm

I randomly remembered this and mentioned it to a friend yesterday (same age, different school) who was shocked and questioned what kind of effed-up school I went to. Did I!? Or was this an often played song at yours too!?

Definitely remember the song but it certainly wasn’t played at my school...

Longislandicedteaplease · 02/07/2021 23:13

Yes mine did.
I love this song, I was reminded of it last year when I went to a butlins 90s weekend and now I get Alexa to play it when I've had one too many.

We also had City High "What Would You Do" about a woman turning to sex work to support her child and Wycleff John "Perfect Gentleman" which was similar

NotAnotherPushyMum · 02/07/2021 23:14

Yes, heard at many school discos, and at my kids primary school discos much more recently the DJ loved to play Sex On Fire by Kings of Leon, which raised a few eyebrows!

Got banned by my school lol

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 02/07/2021 23:20

Yes I remember it being played at a school disco when my daughter was in infant school. I complained to the DJ and his reply was "the kids ask for it so what can I do!" So I wrote to the head the next day who rang me straight away and apologised and said that she personally would make sure that that DJ would not be playing at the school again.

AngeloMysterioso · 02/07/2021 23:21

Yep! Good times Grin there was a dance routine and everything

Whatup · 02/07/2021 23:23

ItsALovelyDayToday · 02/07/2021 23:30

Ahhhh, my mum’s face when “I’m horny, horny horny horny” blasted out in the car during the chart show Grin

But yes we danced to Sex on The Beach, Horny, Hot Stuff, You Sexy Thing etc. The Full Monty has a lot to answer for. Oh and don’t forget Sex Bomb 💣

SanFranBear · 02/07/2021 23:31

Aw thanks, OP - completely forgot about this song but seemed to be everywhere at one point and definitely at my school disco!

BitchIAmFromChicago · 02/07/2021 23:33

Vengaboys - boom, boom boom as well!

WeeM · 02/07/2021 23:35

I remember one of the senior pupils was DJing for our school disco and put on The Outhere brothers Don’t Stop. It was NOT the version that was played on Top of The Pops and I swear I’ve never seen a teacher move as fast as he did when he heard the line ‘put your ass on my face’ blasting out across the hall Grin

hazandduck · 02/07/2021 23:36

@minniebin

Yep, I also used to frequently sing I'm horny, horny, horny.
Haha I sang that to my mum once and she was not impressed! I remember asking her “what is horny?” And receiving the classic response “you’ll find out when you’re older.” This has just brought that memory back so vividly!
whynotwhatknot · 02/07/2021 23:36

my sister was in school when this came o9ut she definitely used to walok round singin it aged 10

FlyingBattie · 02/07/2021 23:37

I don't remember them playing it, but they definitely played some dodgy songs.
2 become 1- was widely known to be about shagging and condoms, for example.

Thisnamewasnttaken123 · 02/07/2021 23:37

Yes I remember it at Discos at my school.
Also the 'Horny' song.
So strange how that was ever ok Confused

FlyingBattie · 02/07/2021 23:38

Oh, horny horny horny was played at my discos for sure. I was around 9, and we used to make devil horns with our fingers on our forehead... the innocence!

Lachimolala · 02/07/2021 23:39

Hahaa! I forgot about this song, but yes at every disco from ‘94 to ‘99 it was on the playlist!

me4real · 02/07/2021 23:39

Wow I'dve thought they'd make sure a school disco's songs were less blatant.

I'm a bit older (born in 77) but don't think our school discos would've had anything fun like that. Can't remember us having discos really tho.

Tereseta · 02/07/2021 23:40

I remember being 11 and on a trip to France and singing let's talk about sex by salt and pepper on the coach over and over and over again. No wonder the teachers were pissed every night Grin
Sex on beach song was played everywhere, tbh I thought more of the cocktail than the actual act
