To be really disturbed - Twitter reactions to crying German girl

Sorry if this has been done. I've only just seen this shared online and I'm so disturbed. 'Cry more slut' - she's a child I don't understand the hatred and violence towards girls and women, I really can't wrap my head around why those people thought those comments were funny or ok to post.

@Bryonyshcmyony what's the point? If I was out for dinner in Scotland and our fans were being like that I'd be equally as annoyed and at it.

It was a thread about England fans, the very ones being twats on Tuesday.

I shouted and jumped around when England scored. That always happens at football matches. Not weird. Just joyful.

I’m guessing not as this thread is about England Fans and not Germany . You can try to excuse this with all the whataboutery you want though. If you want to start a separate thread about German fans and the Brazilian kid I will share similar disgust as I do to the England fans who tweeted, liked and shared the tweets in the picture .

Yes all the fans of other countries are absolutely lovely and charming. Jumping about and shouting in restaurants and pubs is only done by English fans. All the Scottish fans who came to England were quiet and refined. Fuck off calling people apes, millions of people support England and are perfectly nice people.

I’m guessing it was only one fan that booed during the German National anthem too . They tried to hide it by turning the music up but it was so embarrassing to watch .

I could just imagine her excitement at going to see Germany play, maybe her first international football match and then for them to lose and her team booed it must have brought up all sorts of feelings for her.

It didn't occur to me that people would go for her on Twitter. Dreadful.

@Boomisshiss Don’t be ridiculous. It is simply pointing out the issue is not exclusive to English fans. Most of it is just panto anyway. It’s always been like that. Players get booed, rival teams are booed. It’s how football has always been.

Yeah I’m sure calling a 10 year old a slut is simply panto. It’s all fun and games.

I want England to win their games and will be happy if they do. But I can’t get jumping up and down exciting about the possibility because for the last 30/40 years the England national team has been the focal point of a large number of people who are right wing nationalist xenophobes. Of course other countries also have plenty of bigots and racists but their national football team doesn’t seem to be the fulcrum to the same extent

Things seemed very briefly better around Euro 96 when the overwhelming albeit shortlived positivity in the whole country that summer time drowned out that element for a bit, but unfortunately that element is always there and quickly resurfaced. Unfortunately in England football and the national team especially has always been a real point focal point for the yob/racist element in society.
