Surely you would have cameras in a Government building and surely pointing it at doorways between different areas or departments isn't a bad idea.
It looks like a screenshot of a cctv security camera monitor.

Labour should play a little bit dirty. How about a big poster of Hancock and Gina in their office ' clinch ' with the slogan
' Conservatives, not working for you'
Or something similar ?

They need to start chipping away at the tories , they have got away with murder almost , but will still do so whilst Sir Keir is in charge and they can't start to engage with the voters. They could do with a new leader ( not Angela either)
It's still an up hill battle for them.and people will forgive the Conservatives almost anything I believe , especially at election times.

Roussette · 01/07/2021 14:05

Piglet89 I agree. Jeremy Hunt has faults, but he sounderd intelligent and informed.

Johnson might be able to quote Latin but he makes mistake after mistake whilst PM. And there will come a time when it's one mistake too many and the tide will turn against him. There has been statement after statement from him from Brexit to Ireland to Covid that have been complete BS and for now he walks away unscathed. It won't last. There will be accountability at some point.

@the80sweregreat

There is!

LedByDonkeys were right on it!

I see he has solid support from his constituency party so looks like the deselection stuff on mn (like many other predictions) is wrong?

Maybe mumsnetters should have googled and asked first, "Is this something I could find out using my own independent thought and resourcefulness?" I'm looking at you piglet Grin

NotJustACigar · 01/07/2021 14:13

I remember towards the beginning of the pandemic seeing Jeremy Hunt listening to Matt Hancock trying to answer questions with such a look of pity and concern all over his face. It was completely obvious he knew MH was in way over his head.

Sostenueto · 01/07/2021 14:17

Yes just seen his constituency party are backing Hancock because he sent a letter of contrition. Well bully for him😡

Weebleweeble · 01/07/2021 14:24

That's a bit premature as surely the investigation into the recruitment of Gina Col and investigation into secret WhatsApp's isn't completed.

Piglet89 · 01/07/2021 14:27

@JaniieJones it's like shooting fish in a barrel, honestly. I posted this very link much earlier upthread, earlier this afternoon at 12:18.

Jeremy hunt definitely has more principles and integrity in his little finger than Johnson and Hancock and Patel et al put together, which is probably why he’s not in the cabinet, but I do remember him trotting out the party line “we’re 4weeks behind Italy” when it was obvious we were 2 weeks behind Italy in the first wave. I was not impressed by that.

Rhinothunder · 01/07/2021 14:30

Yes and surely if enough pressure is put on his local councillors they will have to reconsider. It's outrageous he is still in post. Email them!

Piglet89 · 01/07/2021 14:31

I'll email them.

I emailed Cardinal Newman and the Bishop of my local Diocese about Johnson's Westminster Cathedral nuptials. The crux of the response was "All done in accordance with Canon Law - pray for them".

I hope it's not the same this time round.

Rhinothunder · 01/07/2021 14:31
@Piglet89
These are the contact details for matt hancocks constituency office. Maybe enough people contacting them to request deselection will change their mind. He is a disgrace and needs to go. What a joke he is still in a position of power and drawing a tax payer funded salary

Office Opening Hours: Tue-Fri 10am to 3pm
8 Swan Land Business Park Exning Newmarket Suffolk, CB8 7FN
01638814044
[email protected]
Or can contact individual councillors

See democracy.westsuffolk.gov.uk for details

Piglet89 · 01/07/2021 14:33

Thanks @Rhinothunder

Peregrina · 01/07/2021 14:34

I could easily see Hancock's constituency party quietly deselecting him once the fuss has died down. Or Hancock himself deciding that there are better ways of making money than being an MP/in Government.

Rhinothunder · 01/07/2021 14:34

@Piglet89 well done for emailing.

it's so frustrating isn't it.

Hopefully the strength of feeling is bigger this time . Stories like the family not being allowed to visit their dying son really help to illustrate the degree hypocrisy from hancock.

If everyone on this thread sends an email it will be hard for them to keep brass necking it out!

Piglet I didnt read the whole 34 pages I do apologise. It does beg the question why you didnt mention it when I was asking about deselection . So, no point wondering about deselection anymore as his constituency party support him!

'it's like shooting fish in a barrel, honestly'

Now that sounds 'patronising and rude' if you ask me, which strangely enough is what you accused me of earlier..

Piglet89 · 01/07/2021 14:47

I didn't read the whole 34 pages.

Before making statements denigrating other posters' ability to research stuff themselves when it's on record that they've done exactly that (evidenced by an earlier post) it's probably wise to do exactly that.

Otherwise, you just look really silly.

Piglet89 · 01/07/2021 14:49

And when the discussion was ongoing about deselection is exactly when I did post it! You just didn't bother to read.

Poor attention to detail. No wonder you seem prepared to forgive Johnson anything.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-13211577

Yup - to Angela Eagle.

"I'm not going to apologise", said Dave. Well, obviously - the Tory slogan might as well be: "Never apologise, never explain".

Oh I can hear him now. The patronising little toad!
Roussette · 01/07/2021 15:11

Well done Piglet

I did email my MP when all this broke saying how appalled I was. Of course no reply. That is his MO. Ignore his constituents... but given he was voted 650th out of 650 with a survey/poll taken on MPs on transparency and responsiveness to constituents... it's not surprising. But I don't give up!
Awful man.

SueSaid · 01/07/2021 15:15

'Before making statements denigrating other posters' ability to research stuff themselves '

You said this -

'Honestly, Google is your friend.'

And this

'Is this something I could find out using my own independent thought and resourcefulness?"

Anyway again, i missed your link sorry! Which said he wouldn't be deselected. I was distracted by the awful 'taxi drivers' sneering from a pp..

Piglet89 · 01/07/2021 15:16

I'll email tonight. I love a complaint letter. I'm basically the 2020s version of Margo Leadbetter.

SueSaid · 01/07/2021 15:18

'I emailed Cardinal Newman and the Bishop of my local Diocese about Johnson's Westminster Cathedral nuptials. The crux of the response was "All done in accordance with Canon Law - pray for them"'

You emailed them?! Oh dear. I mean I waste hours on mn correcting people but I'd never go so far as to start emailing folk about other people's weddings Confused.

Piglet89 · 01/07/2021 15:19

@JaniieJones YOU said:

Which is, of course, exactly what a MN (i.e. me) had already done at 12:18

Jesus wept.

Roussette · 01/07/2021 15:20

If you're Margo Leadbetter, I'm 'Annoyed fro Tunbridge Wells'. Grin

I did a brilliant email to my MP. It must've hit home because he hasn't replied lol

I suppose he thinks the sacking answers everything but no way José. Let's talk contracts to pals and private email addresses... that will be my follow up email, I did mention it in my first but I think it needs more detail!
