Surely you would have cameras in a Government building and surely pointing it at doorways between different areas or departments isn't a bad idea.
It looks like a screenshot of a cctv security camera monitor.

@Blossomtoes

She’s not that bloody glam, she looks pretty ordinary to me. His discarded wife is much more attractive.
Yeah. She’s too thing and haggard looking and obviously a smoker, but it takes all sorts I suppose.
SueSaid · 29/06/2021 14:14

Jesus I can't believe someone has linked to that arsehole Jolyon Maugham's Twitter. Who tf cares what that kimono wearing fox clubbing twat has to say.

'Also, the other big question is about the lack of checks and balances and proper scrutiny in this government, particularly around the appointment of NEDs'

Yes and also the big question is about the lack of checks and balances regarding surveillance and how Dominic Cummings seems to have had far too much access and power.

'Yeah. She’s too thing and haggard looking and obviously a smoker, but it takes all sorts I suppose'

Really? Can we not just agree that women shouldn't be judged on their looks or are you a misogynist?

Peregrina · 29/06/2021 14:18

Oh indeed. But isn't it funny how just over a year ago Tory MPs were lying up to make excuses for his trips to Durham and his eye tests to Barnard Castle.

I suppose it did teach them though - most of them stayed schtumm on Friday, waiting to see which way the wind blew.

Peregrina · 29/06/2021 14:20

lying up = lining up, but perhaps that was a Freudian slip there!

KarenofSparta · 29/06/2021 14:22

Ofgs I'm not a fan but she's far from
Haggard whatever that means.

Do you think men in this situation are slagging off each other like this.

It's embarrassing.

quiteathome · 29/06/2021 14:25

They are both good looking women from what I can tell. Matt Hancock is punching above his weight as far as that sort of thing goes. (From what I can work out) I also assume that they are both intelligent women as well.

Blossomtoes · 29/06/2021 14:26

Can we all just calm down? I didn’t see any accusations of misogyny or slagging off when someone described her as “glam”.

NurseButtercup · 29/06/2021 14:27
Long read here from Twitter but to summarise: Bricklayer was paid £20million to act as go between between govt and govt friends for overpriced PPE contract, and real contractors told their Services not needed. If this is proved he should go to prison. And Priti Patel

mobile.twitter.com/JolyonMaugham/status/1408490348184281099
Why aren't people more outraged that a bricklayer increased his earnings from £200 to £10m of taxpayer £££ literally overnight?? I don't care who's shagging who, I'm still fuming that I had to reuse/recycle and share PPE during the peaks of the pandemic during 2020.

We all need to get behind Jolyon Maugham to ensure these crookes get thrown into prison.

I'm perfectly calm thanks. No need to be criticising the looks of women though.

Yeah it’s apparently ok to slag off MH on the basis of his looks? This thread is full of comments expressing disbelief that she’s left her DH for him because the DH is better looking (I agree he is conventionally more handsome). It seems to be the MN way to rip men apart based on their but not women.
SueSaid · 29/06/2021 14:31

Maugham's even accepts donations on his very Twitter monologue.

He says 'my belief, without evidence ' and 'I think..'. I mean I'm no QC like the fox clubber but I do know 'my belief without evidence' looks rather tenuous.

If there is a case to answer I'm all for it. A Twitterer telling long winded stories doesn't tend to have much credibility tbh.

Just go through the correct channels for goodness sake.

Totally agree! People don’t seem bothered about the pocket lining though. I think it’s so dodgy and there should be criminal charges. And Boris Johnson is the king of sleaze, it’s down to him to hold people to account but he can’t because he’s the worst of them! So yes it’s down to the Good Law Project and JM

Blossomtoes · 29/06/2021 14:39

Just go through the correct channels for goodness sake.

There’s a very good reason for not doing that - nothing happens. The Good Law Project gets my vote.

Priti Patel has been found to be a bully. Are you outraged that she has not been sacked? Are you of the opinion that her boss who so lacks authority that she is still in post should step down?

What about Robert Jenrick?

SueSaid · 29/06/2021 14:42

Yeah and do donate to JM's good law project while you're at it won't you 🙄.

If there is anything dodgy then independent enquiries will identify it. Gue Guevara/JolyJon can stand down.

ScribblyBaller · 29/06/2021 14:43

someone's had a lunchtime sherry.

Schmoana · 29/06/2021 14:49

So who in government is going to investigate this? Who is making sure they don’t delete all their personal emails? Boris will just appoint someone loyal to give him the result he wants/ write the report he wants/ not bother to investigate like the Russia report. The torys will do anything for the pursuit of power. Most were remainers who tow the line to not get sacked by Boris. The ones with principles did get sacked.

SueSaid · 29/06/2021 14:52

'So who in government is going to investigate this? '

There's an independent enquiry next year didn't you know? All stuff like contracts etc will be investigated.

Notonthestairs · 29/06/2021 14:52

Go through the correct channels?

Like using your government email address?

Or like the law courts?

Independent inquiries only work if those that are charged with conducting them are truly independent and not appointed in-house or via favours (like GC reviewing MH).

Heaven forbid anyone outside of the Conservative party should ask questions.

Notonthestairs · 29/06/2021 14:53

Or course independent inquiries also only work if they can access all relevant information.

jgw1 · 29/06/2021 14:56

@JaniieJones

What was the conclusion of the independent report into Priti Patel's bullying? Had she broken the ministerial code? Have you written to your MP expressing outrage that the independent enquiry was ignored?
Schmoana · 29/06/2021 14:56

JaniieJones

Read the rest of my post.

Blossomtoes · 29/06/2021 15:16

Currently “independent” enquires are the government marking its own homework. Just a pointless waste of time. As pp have said, while Priti Patel can get away with blatant bullying in the wake of one, they have zero credibility.

TheoMeo · 29/06/2021 15:45

I think they do but how can you demonstrate your annoyance if you're not a newspaper editor or have thousands of twitter followers.
There is another by election coming up - be interesting to see if there is an increase in the Labour candidates majority. The gov does care about staying in power.

Prior to Hancock polls suggested the Tories are going to win. Can we hope that has changed?
