Surely you would have cameras in a Government building and surely pointing it at doorways between different areas or departments isn't a bad idea.
It looks like a screenshot of a cctv security camera monitor.

Political gain. They have extended the restrictions beyond what is necessary. All of Europe, the US, pretty much everywhere else is fully open.

The Delta variant is not increasing quickly across other European countries at this time. Some ongoing restrictions became necessary because of this govt messing up border control.

@Roussette

I think the private email account is a far far bigger story. This was known back in December and he was told to use a governmental email a/c He ignored that and carried on, on private email. This will mean that crucial emails negotiating PPE contracts might never see the light of day. It means he concealed information from his own officials within the Health Dept. He's going to be under investigation for this. Good.
Agree and good.
newnortherner111 · 27/06/2021 16:28

@JaniieJones the SNP MP had the whip withdrawn immediately. Whereas Boris Johnson did not sack Matt Hancock.

Absolutely.

You can't complete an investigation without full access.

He used a private email address deliberately to limit what could be seen.

Roussette · 27/06/2021 16:42

Yes he did.

He set up the private email a/c as covid started, in March 2020.

Dodgy or what? Why would you do that, when you have an official governmental email a/c.

There is a lot more to come out

Blossomtoes · 27/06/2021 16:42

@JaniieJones

The security breach should be the bigger story. Footage should not be able to be illicitly obtained and passed on to a third party.

This is gossip but imagine if it were a more serious issue in the ministry of defence or the treasury. These offices should be secure from third party snooping. It is widely being commented on that is wasn't just an innocent cctv camera.

No, his dishonesty should be the bigger story.

I feel like I need a good wash after trawling through the sewer of Twitter political rumours. Thoughts and prayers with Miss Vine.

SGC0 · 27/06/2021 16:47

@sergeilavrov

As I mentioned on the first thread, the image is not from CCTV. You don’t put that in sensitive spaces, as it represents a security vulnerability. They have now identified the bug was hidden in the smoke alarm.

Every office and sensitive space needs to be searched and sweeped. This is a national security unity scandal, far larger than an affair.

Exactly this. There are historic photos of the exact office available online. It was a camera secreted in a fire alarm.
Zampa · 27/06/2021 16:47

I think that the worst that could happen re the footage (if it is CCTV) is for the ICO to investigate the data controller and those with access to the system. Probably resulting in a small fine and a hand slap.

Time to dust down Gavin Williamson's notorious sin sheet he prepared for Theresa May when he was chief whip.

bollihigh · 27/06/2021 16:59

Sadly we have come to a juncture where the default mode is to assume they are all worthless liars which is the price you pay when you play a part in electing Boris Johnson as PM and turn politics into a poor relation of showbiz. Poor old Keir Starmer is out of his depth trying to swim in these waters but it's not difficult to recognise him as an honorable man.

BiscoffAddict · 27/06/2021 16:59

Matt Hancock’s name is on that as well. So he’s had a least one other extra marital affair with a member of his private office.

Regulus · 27/06/2021 16:59

Just watched Trevor Phillips on Sky, he was good although I was very sorry to hear of his loss.

MercyBooth · 27/06/2021 17:00

YY @Roussette December i heard.

While we were being psychologically abused over wanting to visit in someone elses house for Christmas.
And all the bait and switch its on again off again on again off again over it and told we were being selfish.
Absolute cunts. They all knew. Well i went to my parents on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Just a 20 min walk away. Luckily i could take advantage of the new support bubble rule which came in that month but DB couldnt He is incredibly angry. Especially as DM is now deteriarating physically.

Good luck with engineering another Christmas lockdown Tory AND Labour cunts. Cos you will need it..

Roussette · 27/06/2021 17:01

That was a moving story and the arse of a tory politician just got defensive and didn't even have the good grace to offer condolences on his loss.

What have we become with this shower of a government. What will it take for people to turn away from them?

We’re all asking the same question @Roussette. The only thing I can think of is for the Murdock stable to continually put the boot in.
CustardSquirrel · 27/06/2021 17:07

He is an utter disgrace.

Apart from everything else, he woke an 8year old child to tell them he was leaving.
How fucked up is that ?

Roussette · 27/06/2021 17:08

Indeed. Let's hope.

showing how shallow I am to care but is the above a fact ? Was it secreted in a fire alarm ? How do we know ?

The Mail article I looked at supposedly showed his office and had the door ,the coat stand and a CCTV marked .From that the images seemed to be from the CCTV .Though the room looked more like an ante chamber where meetings would take place ,not an office .

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9728843/Matt-Hancocks-affair-footage-office-CCTV-reveals-GLEN-OWEN.html

I do wonder who has released the images ,how they worked out the timing etc .

when people can't say goodbye to dying loved ones

'I buried my daughter mostly alone, why should I follow the rules now?' Trevor Phillips asks Tory MP

It was awful wasn't it, he just ignored it really.
bollihigh · 27/06/2021 17:17

There seems to be considerable establishment front building to topple Johnson. He would probably welcome being pushed out of office to spend more time with his child. Hancock has turned out to be a most vile creature.
