Surely you would have cameras in a Government building and surely pointing it at doorways between different areas or departments isn't a bad idea.
It looks like a screenshot of a cctv security camera monitor.

So MH resigned because his actions were in breach of Covid restrictions.

In that case, surely Boris will do the same after his performance at the G7 summit in Cornwall? (Wishful thinking, I know)

SueSaid · 27/06/2021 14:59

@the80sweregreat

The daily Mail seem almost disappointed that Martha hasn't chucked her wedding ring out the window yet. It's so odd isn't it? The fact that there was a security breach, Hancock could have been blackmailed over all this , who gave the footage to the Sun etc etc, yet it's ' she still has a ring on ' that they find fascinating.
It is bizarre. People have affairs all the time. I'm not condoning it and he had to resign but this witch hunt is all a bit ott.

So what he 'made the rules' they all did it's what government is for. There wasn't this much of an outcry when the snp person travelled all the UK whilst positive. Some perspective is needed. He has resigned!

The sneak selling private info whilst Cummings is cackling on Twitter is all very fucked up.

twilightermummy · 27/06/2021 15:00

Unsure33
But the point remains that the family had to stick to the rules whilst he has flouted them.

Zotter · 27/06/2021 15:00

@newnortherner111

I disagree about Michael Gove being worried. Even though there are women about with very low self-esteem, there surely cannot be another woman who would want a relationship with him?
Allegedly may not be another female...

Half the country flouted the rules. A cursory look on mn would have shown you folk were bleating enough was enough last year and were having playdates because their 2yr olds need to play whilst their mum chatted to her pals and that was far important than keeping transmission down.

This was from only a few weeks ago when restrictions were relaxing anyway. He has behaved recklessly and appallingly but has resigned.

Let's see who Cumming's next target is.

bonfireheart · 27/06/2021 15:08

@JaniieJones so everyone should disregard every single rule cos others are??

bonfireheart · 27/06/2021 15:12

And @JaniieJones using the example of a two years olds birthday party is insulting to those who couldn't attend their loved ones funerals.

SueSaid · 27/06/2021 15:16

'so everyone should disregard every single rule cos others are??'

Nope. Everyone should have followed the restrictions including MH.

My point was many didn't, probably many on here and to get so hysterical about MH who was caught out and has resigned seems excessive. This footage was from a few weeks ago, everything was relaxed by that point anyway. Yes 2m distance and no snogging still applied, but really who cared by that stage.

twilightermummy · 27/06/2021 15:19

Hey, listen, I’m certainly not the covid police but he set the rules and he’s attacked anybody flouting those rules. I remember him a few weeks ago saying that anybody thinking of going abroad was selfish. One rule for them and fuck the rest of us. I genuinely think that he’s been laughing at us all. There is clear contempt for the public from this government and they sicken me quite frankly.

twilightermummy · 27/06/2021 15:22

Also, it’s naive to think this affair only started 6 weeks ago. They’ve been close since university and he hired her a year ago. He hasn’t apologised to his wife publicly so it seems to be more serious than a dalliance.

Roussette · 27/06/2021 15:22

The fact 'many didn't (not me) does not make it OK.

Are you honestly saying that MH's affair just started on the day of the footage?! I think not 😂

I'm not hysterical. I'm appalled. This is obviously an affair that has gone on a while, probably during the brutal winter lockdown where people went through so much. I'm glad the hypocritical arse Hancock has gone, good riddance.

Let's move on to his private Gmail a/c where he negotiated his contracts for friends.

Absolutely agree but the moral outrage on here for many who didn't listen to a word he said or do anything regarding the restrictions 'enough is enough' 'It's gone on too long' being favourite topics for months would seem disproportionate.

He was spied on (which is worrying tbh) a few weeks ago and has rightly resigned. I'm not sure the faux appalled handwringing from some on here is convincing anyone really.

Blossomtoes · 27/06/2021 15:28

So you don’t think the multi million contracts for mates matter? The use of a private email address so there’s no audit trail is OK? The 30,000 care home residents who died when he was apparently protecting them while sending untested hospital discharges their way don’t count? The lies about the PPE shortage are fine?

The affair is the least of it.

Backhills · 27/06/2021 15:29

Many of the most draconian rules we had no choice whether to comply.

DH had to receive the news his cancer was terminal in a telephone appointment, on his own in hospital (because the consultant was at another hospital). He remained in hospital for a further 11 weeks with no visitors allowed because, although he was "terminal", he wasn't end of life. By the time he came home the man we love didn't exist any more, but he did for most of the weeks he was in hospital and we couldn't see him/he couldn't see us.

Notonthestairs · 27/06/2021 15:31

Backhills- I'm so sorry for your family. That must have been devastating.

Lemonwoe · 27/06/2021 15:31

But... I wonder what is all going behind the scenes that made Bojo authorise this going to the media (I have no doubt the man was involved, and Hancock is a smokescreen). Look there’s a squirrel...

Roussette · 27/06/2021 15:33

Backhills I cannot begin to imagine what you went through, that is heartbreaking

What makes you think Johnson “authorised” it?
ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 27/06/2021 15:46

Acknowledging how as much as we all despise him, Cunning is still calling the shots in this cunning versus latest/current wife saga with the buffoon in chief caught in the crossfire needing the added self protection of another incompetent rule breaker to make him look less comical. Who is going to make the next move as it was probably Cunning taking out Hanjob and Carrie next move to put Javid on. Who is next to fall in this proxy war game that is the House of Cards. Much more dead weight drift wood in the cabinet as it’s so far a comedy of errors with both lives and livelihoods loss. There is possibly more material to sell to media or is he needing to test and readjust his eyesight first. The education sector is not particularly glowing as far far far from fit for purpose in this pandemic pantomime! May a much necessary shake up there to improve performance? Our all we still buying into the “we are better than x,y,z et all nonsense.” Presumably it is back to hands face space and not arse again as the former health and social care sec is laughing all the way to the bank with his personal emailed off radar PPE contracts.

SueSaid · 27/06/2021 15:52

'The 30,000 care home residents who died when he was apparently protecting them while sending untested hospital discharges their way don’t count?'

There is more and more evidence emerging that symptomless transmission isn't as common as thought and perhaps not the cause of the large amount of care home deaths with untested discharged residents. Staff taking it in to care homes and other visiting hcps may have been the cause.

Look, again he waz stupid, reckless and has resigned. That does not negate the stuff he did well. The nhs coped with the surges, the vaccination programme which yes the nhs implemented but as health minister he was directly involved.

I just can't understand this mentality that he told us to do things and we didn't have to if he snogged his gf? No, we did have to to control the spread. His very recent ill-advised office grope shouldn't have happened but it did and he has gone. Those restrictions regarding funerals and hospital visits were still necessary!

My sympathies, we had the same with my Mum although her demise was over 4 weeks. She was in hospital initially where we were not allowed to visit and she spent her last week in a hospice where every night we slept in our cars in the hospice car park as we couldn’t be with her but we needed to be close by. My love to you and your family x x x
StormzyinaTCup · 27/06/2021 16:00

I'm fairly sure if Boris wanted/was going to to oust MH it wouldn't be by catching him out in an illicit office rendezvous because, well, that's a bit pot and kettle. I don't think it has his fingerprints on it.

SueSaid · 27/06/2021 16:01

The security breach should be the bigger story. Footage should not be able to be illicitly obtained and passed on to a third party.

This is gossip but imagine if it were a more serious issue in the ministry of defence or the treasury. These offices should be secure from third party snooping. It is widely being commented on that is wasn't just an innocent cctv camera.

Magicpaintbrush · 27/06/2021 16:10

I hope that when he sits his kids down for the inevitable "I love you but this is just something I have to do" speech, that they all tell him to go fuck himself.

Roussette · 27/06/2021 16:13

I think the private email account is a far far bigger story. This was known back in December and he was told to use a governmental email a/c
He ignored that and carried on, on private email. This will mean that crucial emails negotiating PPE contracts might never see the light of day. It means he concealed information from his own officials within the Health Dept. He's going to be under investigation for this.
Good.
