To ask for ‘tacky‘ holiday suggestions?!

My DD and I have been on all kinds of holidays together and the ones we have enjoyed the most have been typical English seaside places with arcades and amusements. Blackpool was brilliant and we also enjoyed Clacton on Sea, Butlins and Southend. Can anyone recommend similar destinations in that are on the coast that we might enjoy. Sandy beach is preferable to pebbles! Thanks!

Littlehampton is tacky but pebbles when the tide is in.

Filey, Cleethorpes

Loyaultemelie · 24/06/2021 08:42

Skeggy or Scarborough sound promising.

ShinyGreenElephant · 24/06/2021 08:43

@Knackeredneon why so angry? I love Blackpool but noone could say its not tacky! Not what I'd call an old fashioned seaside holiday either tbh, particularly Butlins.

TheLeadbetterLife · 24/06/2021 08:43

Great Yarmouth is fun - go to the Hippodrome Circus if it’s open, it’s bloody brilliant.

AdelindSchade · 24/06/2021 08:43

Scarborough/Filey/Bridlington - all very close together and all slightly different.

We had an excellent holiday on the Isle of Wight.

PurpleDaisies · 24/06/2021 08:43

Skegness has a great Sandy beach and is full of tack.

Knackeredneon · 24/06/2021 08:44

Soz I 'm not a classist twat.

It's nothing to do with being easily offended. I font live in these places. But somone does.

MarianneUnfaithful · 24/06/2021 08:45

@Knackeredneon

Why phrase your op like that? Just say old fashioned British seaside holidays. Makes you look like a wanker tbh.
Because old fashioned could include Southwold or Aldeburgh or Lyme Regis for example, which isn’t what the OP wants.

And she put ‘tacky in ‘ ‘.

LOL at Offenderati

AdelindSchade · 24/06/2021 08:46

Blackpool is in a league of it's own though I feel.

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 24/06/2021 08:47

@welshweasel

Rhyl Llandudno Porthcawl
My step grandparents had caravans in Porthcawl, all named after us kids. "Hearing my step granny saying she was going to change the curtains in Loveliness was weird..... Grin Such lovely memories. I'm glad it hasn't changed.
TheLovelinessOfDemons · 24/06/2021 08:47

NewLifeInTheSouth · 24/06/2021 08:48

And Great Yarmouth.

Also there is a holiday park with chalets or static caravans or something near Croyde on the north Devon coast which is a stunningly beautiful area but the holiday park itself is, well....let's just say not my cup of tea. But most people would say I'm a snobby bitch so...

We were out for the day with friends and drove past several lovely and suitable and lovely country pubs in order to stop there for a drink and some lunch once (don't ask) and I can safely say it fits your brief.

My husband's face was a picture. As was mine, I imagine.

Knackeredneon · 24/06/2021 08:49

In my experience only right-wing gammons use phrases like offenderati. How embarrassing for you.

Y'all are probably the same ones bleating on about toilets too.

motogogo · 24/06/2021 08:51

Weston super mare - even had a pontins nearby (think it was on a channel 5 tv show) for added retro throwback.

(I actually like it but only ride down for fish and chips on bike nights rather than stay, if you like motorbikes it's a good spot to see them)

StMarysKettle · 24/06/2021 08:51

Margate! Lots of arcades, dreamland amusement Park, a slightly menacing feel to the area and loads to do if you go a little bit further afield, zoos, castles etc
