To think that a super king won’t be that different to a king

Please help settle an argument with DH. If you changed from a King to Super King, did you actually really notice the difference? Also, would you recommend a Super king?

Yabu - a super king is awesome
Yanbu - stick with a king

Super King is awesome! A whole foot wider than king.

Menora · 20/06/2021 22:03

Super is massive. I regret not getting one

altiara · 20/06/2021 22:04

Massive difference!

NotTheCatsWhiskers · 20/06/2021 22:04

Super king is amazing, if you’ve got room buy one!

glitterbubbles · 20/06/2021 22:04

Super king is amazing, fully recommend!

ButterflyBitch · 20/06/2021 22:05

You’re so wrong. It’s a whole single bed to yourself. And another one for your partner. I would never go smaller than super king ever again.

SnarkyBag · 20/06/2021 22:05

A super king is indeed awesome I really miss mine (have a king size now). The only gripe I had was I couldn’t put a super king duvet cover on by myself.

ChoccyJules · 20/06/2021 22:05

The only problem you’ll find is when you stay at friends’ houses and they have a standard double in the guest room. Talk about sardines!!

Divebar2021 · 20/06/2021 22:06

It’s fantastic. There are two problems though… sleeping in a standard double afterwards is torturous and the cost of bedding is quite prohibitive.

Ridingthegravytrain · 20/06/2021 22:06

Superkings have ruined kings for me. I find staying in hotels annoying now!

Willyoujustpivot · 20/06/2021 22:06

Do it, or if it will fit I would recommend the luxury of an emperor (2m wide), you really notice the difference with that!

TimeFlysWhenYoureHavingRum · 20/06/2021 22:07

If either you or DH are tall it makes a big difference. Much better!

Atalune · 20/06/2021 22:07

I would rather sell a kidney than be without my SK bed. It’s my favourite thing.

Aquamarine1029 · 20/06/2021 22:07

Always get a super king if you have the room. There is a huge difference between a SK and a king.

Menora · 20/06/2021 22:07

I have a double and DP has a super king. My bed is indeed torture to share with him now 😭

Tyrannosaurusdrip · 20/06/2021 22:07

It's amazing. If you can afford it and have the room, do it!

AOwlAOwlAOwl · 20/06/2021 22:08

Yeah agree with everyone else.

If you have the room get a super king, you won't regret it.

It does spoil you for all other beds though. I can't sleep in a double with DH any more, I have no idea how we used to manage.

If it fits in your room, definitely do it! We got a super king frame with two different single mattresses with different firmness & one sheet over both so we both have exactly the bed we want. It’s fabulous. In the winter we have a super king quilt and in summer two separate doubles so we can both be at the exact temperature we want too. Never sleep as well anywhere else which is the only downside of being this spoilt!

PleaseCanWePutAGrownUpInCharge · 20/06/2021 22:10

SK absolutely. Over the years we’ve had a double, a king, a SK and now have an emperor and it’s bliss.

userchange8945 · 20/06/2021 22:10

YABU, honestly I know 30cm doesn't sound like very much, but that 30cm makes me feel like I am in my own bed and DH his, I believe it's the equivalent of two singles. It's honestly worth the upgrade. We went to a hotel the other day and stayed in a king and boy did I know it!

If you're upgrading anyway, def do it.

Changing sheets is a fucker though, again demonstrating the difference that 30cm makes!!

TheBestSpoon · 20/06/2021 22:12

I genuinely don't think my marriage would have survived without our superking, and there is not a chance we're ever having anything else. DH has many charming qualities, but he is 6ft2, 14 stone and thrashes back and forth in his sleep. The only downside is we are now totally unable to sleep in a double together when we're away!

Thelnebriati · 20/06/2021 22:13

You know in summer when the bit you are lying on is too hot and you have to move to a cool bit? That, get the Super King.

bloodyhell19 · 20/06/2021 22:15

DH and I have always had a superking & when we've stayed elsewhere with a king bed, the difference is huge. Much better quality sleep in a SK & we can be as close or as far apart from each other as we like!

justawoman76 · 20/06/2021 22:17

We went from sharing a double for 20 years to a super king in the last 6 months. It is amazing, although sometimes I feel like DH is miles away! Changing the sheets is a bit of a military operation though and you cant fit as much in the washing machine.

Not as much choice of bedding.
Technically need bigger pillows too but I just use standard ones with a 6 foot bolster pillow/cushion at the back to prop them all up.

But it's definitely worth it. When we first got ours I thought it looked utterly huge but now it just looks like a normal bed to me, its amazing how quickly you get used to seeing such a massive bed. If you have room, go for it!
