To think the UK should not fund the Eurovision Song Contest?

Or bother entering obviously.

It’s a humiliation and everyone hates us so we hardly get any votes. None this year due to Brexit and the Covid vaccine probably.

Poor James Sad. He certainly didn’t deserve NIL points!

Amanda Holden made a colossal sequinned tit of herself.

SpindleWhorl · 25/05/2021 20:40

Was Holden scripted, or drunk?

StColumbofNavron · 25/05/2021 20:51

I did think she might be drunk.

Janaih · 25/05/2021 21:08

Now that the adrenaline/gin has worn off I'm quite angry with Ms Holden. Unfortunately the powers that be will probably view the tweets and clickbait articles about the sorry mess as a success.

stayathomer · 25/05/2021 23:35

Either that or the whole semi final thing should be abolished. Just stick all 39 on air on the night
That would be one long night! I think when it was over the one night there wouldn't have been close to that and by the end you were struggling! And I love Eurovision!!

NiceGerbil · 26/05/2021 01:10

Not caught up at all just saw this on my threads.

It used to be all of them and all countries gave scores from 12 to 'nil points'.

It went on for hours. I mean literally hours.

Maybe there were less countries then etc? Dunno. But it was proper ages.

That's why they now have the rounds and the voting isn't all read out.

Mind you feels like a lot of stuff is back to the 70s at the mo so why not?!

blubberyboo · 26/05/2021 09:14

Yes years ago half of the night was singing and the other half voting.
So it wouldn’t be any longer to have all 39 acts on the night and then have the current voting system where each jury rattle out their 12 point winner.

Just for the record - Italy tested negative for drug use!

As bad as the German entry was at least it was more memorable (and fun) than ours. If it was just between UK and Germany I would have voted Germany[/quote]
Definitely.

@TellySavalashairbrush

We definitely need to bow out. £500k is £49000 too much for us to contribute to this political farce. Never been the same since Terry Wogan stopped hosting it anyway.

So you're saying it's OK to spend £451,000 on it? Where exactly has your figure of £49,000 come from in relation to the original approx £500,000‽
