Or bother entering obviously.

It’s a humiliation and everyone hates us so we hardly get any votes. None this year due to Brexit and the Covid vaccine probably.

Poor James Sad. He certainly didn’t deserve NIL points!

Waah waah we did win and now we are going to throw our toys out of the pram

WickedQueen · 23/05/2021 00:41

Wow it’s really shit to be making comments about the guy’s appearance.

PlanDeRaccordement · 23/05/2021 00:41

That would be the definition of a childish reaction to losing. You can’t win everything.

Mytiredeyeshaveseenenough · 23/05/2021 00:41

The Germans should have won that.

We won't win by coming up with turgid rubbish like that.

We need to do a Lordi or just get Faithless to do a new version of Insomnia.

All together now We can't get no votes. (admit you're singing it now)

UrAWizHarry · 23/05/2021 00:42

@Duckypoohs

We could win if we sent a decent song.
To be fair, we probably wouldn't, but we'd get a few more points than zero.

No credible artist is going to subject themselves to the humilation anyway, so this is why we get fat bloke from down the road representing us.

Duckypoohs · 23/05/2021 00:42

@SnapDragonCat

If we managed to clone the 60s Beatles and enter them we still wouldn't win. Love the idea of entering Vic Reeves singing in the club style Grin
Well we did win with the slightly cheesy katrina and the waves song tbh. I think that was still when it was only judges votes. .
IsFuzzyBeagMise · 23/05/2021 00:43

The song wasn't good.

SnapDragonCat · 23/05/2021 00:44

Agree there's not much point in it when it's more about xenophobia than how good the song is though

Stressybetty · 23/05/2021 00:44

UK staging was terrible as well, like something produced by a primary school. We need to get a lot lot better.

ATieLikeRichardGere · 23/05/2021 00:45

Leaving wouldn’t be throwing the toys out the pram I don’t think. No ones complaining about not winning - there’s only one winner anyway. But we just might as well not be there because no one wants us there so what’s the point. Nil points again and again. There was plenty of other shite songs getting points.

Duckypoohs · 23/05/2021 00:46

How is it about xenophobia? How could anyone listen to the shit song we proferred and say we were robbed? Blush

Dddccc · 23/05/2021 00:47

Funny if the UK put a good singer in we might get points haha he was crap sorry

AngeloMysterioso · 23/05/2021 00:47

Our song wasn’t great, but it definitely wasn’t the worst.

ATieLikeRichardGere · 23/05/2021 00:48

It’s not the song. People HATE us.

CuteOrangeElephant · 23/05/2021 00:48

There are countries way more hated than the UK that got points. Playing the victim here is a bit pathetic tbh.

The problem with the songs the UK send is that they are very bland!

Duckypoohs · 23/05/2021 00:48

@AngeloMysterioso

Our song wasn’t great, but it definitely wasn’t the worst.
It really was imo.
Stressybetty · 23/05/2021 00:49

If we are paying £500,000 membership it works out as about £0.008 per person in the UK!

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 23/05/2021 00:49

I Eurovisxit long before Brexit as I understand it’s not been a European song contest for years and that is not because it’s intercontinental but more because it’s an annual entertainment circus with some political and woke activism with varying agendas and block voting trends. Each to their own as like other beauty contests the best and by definition popular and established don’t complete in this spectacle as it’s more overall for second rate unknowns than top flight musicality. Admittedly it’s usually good entertainment and works well for social gatherings etc listening to other languages with occasionally some refreshing aural delights in a language one does not understand but resonates well emerge.

UrAWizHarry · 23/05/2021 00:49

It was a terrible song, and the performance/staging of it was easily the worst out of all of them.

"Here's a chubby bloke we found in a pub, who can't really sing live standing in between two trumpets doing dad dancing!"

ForgedInFire · 23/05/2021 00:49

I don't care how much we actually contribute. In these days that everything from the NHS to benefits to keeping local libraries open is under such heavy scrutiny we shouldn't be paying out for a song contest.

Duckypoohs · 23/05/2021 00:50

I'm watching the 1998 version on iplayer, blimey haha.

daytrogen · 23/05/2021 00:51

I didn’t like the song at all tbh

Calamaribabe · 23/05/2021 00:52

It's perfectly fair to criticise his appearance. The vote is about the whole performance - the staging, the costumes, the dancing, the special effects and the talent and appeal (or lack of) of the performers - as well as the song itself.

Judging by our decision to field an uncharismatic contestant with all the dress sense of Columbo singing a wholly unmemorable song, we are now scraping the very bottom of the barrel, and I can only assume I will have to step up and represent the UK myself next year.

I do feel it's time all contestants contributed equally and we stopped buying our place in the final - totally unfair.

ForgedInFire · 23/05/2021 00:52

There is no way that our song was worse then the cringe-fest that Germany offered up

ATieLikeRichardGere · 23/05/2021 00:52

@CuteOrangeElephant it’s not playing the victim it’s just how it is. It’s probably nicer to think the song was at fault but that’s kidding yourself.
