For one portion of broccoli as part of a meal.
We are going to our towns well to do Chinese Restaurant tomorrow and thought I'd browse the menu online.Mains are around £13-£22,starters £8-£11.Aibu (or tight) to think vegetables as part of a meal shouldn't be so expensive? We are in the North if it's relevant.

Lighthearted.

As good a reason as any not to eat a vegetable!

fluffythedragonslayer · 21/05/2021 22:04

Madness! Name and shame, I wanna look at the menu 😁

Lollypop4 · 21/05/2021 22:04

Insane cost!

HannaHat · 21/05/2021 22:05

Extortionate 😳

KindergartenKop · 21/05/2021 22:05

Just get chips

DancesWithDaffodils · 21/05/2021 22:05

I'd say its daylight robbery.
It would rapidly make for a very expensive family meal!

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 21/05/2021 22:05

I couldn't go to a restaurant that charged 7.20 for fucking broccoli! I'd pay loads for steak or other meat, main meal etc...

But just a bowl of fucking broccoli??? Shock

LittleDoritt · 21/05/2021 22:06

Fuck yes.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 21/05/2021 22:06

Starters are bit steep, but the mains aren't so bad. The bit of broccoli is bit Confused

BrownEyedGirl80 · 21/05/2021 22:06

@KindergartenCop they don't sell chips 😒

A vegetable side should cost less than a fiver.

Ireolu · 21/05/2021 22:07

Annoyed if veg sides r more than £3. A whole broccoli is less than a quid in Tesco. Rip off

FangsForTheMemory · 21/05/2021 22:07

Outrageous. This is a link to the menu at Rules, the oldest restaurant in the UK and wonderfully posh. £4.95 for a side dish of veg. rules.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/MAY-MENU-2021-front.pdf

coodawoodashooda · 21/05/2021 22:08

Do you know you don't have to eat there?

Flowerclock · 21/05/2021 22:08

Is it plain brocolli or does it have sauce/dressing on it? Totally missing the point, but who on Earth gets vegetables from the carry out?! And especially Brocolli. There is a special place in hell for these people. Buy a bag of prawn crackers instead.

TottiePlantagenet · 21/05/2021 22:08

Is it normal brocoli or Chinese broccoli (kai lan)? That's harder to source and way more delicious, so I would be willing to pay for that.

But in a Chinese meal, the veg can be as much a feature as a meat/fish, it's not just an accompaniment.

If it's only 4 pieces of normal brocoli though, I'd give it a miss too.

HmmmmmmInteresting · 21/05/2021 22:09

It might taste amazing though. Depends on the restaurant. I've been to Michelin starred restaurants where every dish is worth the ££££

I like them😂

But what would Monty celebrate with if he couldn't have chips and rice. Chips AND rice Joyce 😔

kitkatsky · 21/05/2021 22:10

Wtf!

KindergartenKop · 21/05/2021 22:10

@BrownEyedGirl80 No CHIPS????

Just leave.
