Discussing Palestinian Oppression part 2

Faffandahalf · 16/05/2021 09:28

Just starting another thread as the other one is full.

Please keep talking about Palestinian occupation and oppression.

Please follow Palestinian support groups like Friends of Al Aqsa and Mohammed el Kurd (an amazing Sheikh Jarrah citizen) on Twitter and Insta to get info from the ground. This will take you to other sources of infor coming out of Palestine.

Please keep Palestine part of the conversation and on social media so it’s not forgotten about.

Supporting Palestine is not anti Semitic
Criticising Israel is not anti Semitic.

As an aside I have not once seen the previous thread in active after page 1.
So MN have let the thread stand after numerous complaints of censorship but still odd that it never came up as active.

@DeepThinkingGirl you think the ‘pro-Israeli posters’ on here are ‘paid’? By whom exactly? ‘The Jewish lobby?’ I’m just giving you the chance to think about that ‘paid’ comment and possibly reconsider it before I report it for the anti-semitism it is. Let me know how you get on.

Blackberrycream · 17/05/2021 20:50

@DeepThinkingGirl
Some people did certainly try to hijack a thread about a British Jewish woman who felt scared. Weren’t you getting very friendly with some of the deleted posters?
It’s like Alice through the Looking Glass here sometimes.

GoingOnABarHunt · 17/05/2021 20:51

This deteriorated quickly...

You are the poster who queried why Palestinian women weren’t posting about being raped on Twitter, I don’t think you’re in a position to pass comment on the deterioration of posts.

On a normal everyday life thread I would not engage with someone whose user name includes self congratulatory description such as deep thinking, because the reality is usually anything but.

Of course I made an exception for this one, because I feel deeply about the issue.

Still with this kind of username starting to accuse others of stupidity is like shooting oneself in the foot. It would be comical if not for the horrors we are discussing here ...

We are in a me too era.

If they are systematically raped i expect they would speak up.

Blackberrycream · 17/05/2021 20:59

It seems like some posters can hold it together for a little bit, then the mask slips. Mumsnet has been an interesting place today.
Now anybody who disagrees is likely part of a paid lobby....

GoingOnABarHunt · 17/05/2021 21:01

@BFrazzled there are countless enquiries online for you to easily google that date back decades, why on earth are you expecting oppressed women to post on Twitter about their trauma? Would you apply this to all women around the world or just currently Palestinian women who have to provide photographic evidence of everything from being shot at to having their children killed in order to not be dismissed and disbelieved?

StoneofDestiny · 17/05/2021 21:01

The UN, US and UK have called for more protection for the civilians caught in intense violence between Israel and Palestinian militants.
Footage of children being pulled from the rubble in Gaza and people running for shelter in Israel have sparked international alarm
.
The conflict is now in its second week, with little sign of a ceasefire.
More than 212 people, including 61 children, have died in Gaza, and 10, including two children, in Israel

BBC
Israel says most of those killed in Gaza are militants and that any civilian deaths are unintentional.
Hamas, the militant group that runs the territory, does not acknowledge this.

Do you think the BBC is anti Semitic ?

Which mask slipping ? The fact that I’m angry for the many children whose voices those stupid posts are suppressing? Whose numbers are increasing ? Hence my mental health declining?

Ofcourse, you need to paint me as a monster. It helps you dehumanise me, and then when I speak for the children apparently I don’t represent them. But when I slip, I suddenly would represent them, so you can exploit that to vilify and dehumanise all of them. Therefore, convincing the world that we all have a mask to slip. Because deep down we are different monsters..

The world fears what they don’t know.

I’m here to tell the world, that I’m human too. And so are the Palestinians.

And I hope that this, keeps grating on you. And your lack of compassion.

Well, no, but potentially a student looking to make a few bob.

So a paid lobby...

As me too movement taught us posting about this online is often the only way to get justice. So if they are raped by the IDF I hope they find strength to post about it. There is no shame in it. The rapists are the ones who should be ashamed.
I do not think the specific Twitter post you linked is genuine though. Just because IDF perpetrated proven war crimes (including rape - but the one I know of was from decades ago) doesn’t mean that every Twitter account speaks truth.

piddocktrumperiness · 17/05/2021 21:13

@anemona
Where did I say refugees have no rights? Why are you assuming that?
Every Jewish refugee, wherever they are in the world has the right to live in Israel. I didn’t say anything to the contrary.

Why would you assume I’m not neutral? I have literally been arguing one stance in this thread; and that is a one state binational solution for all Jews- ALL JEWS and Palestinians to live side by side.

I’ve read my post over and over and can’t quite understand your conclusion of it.

I was merely highlighting the perceived insensitivity when suggesting that Palestinians should just suck it up and piss off to another country and just get over their expulsion.
Palestinian refugees have a right to come home and live in peace, as do all Jewish refugees too. No question.
I’m not arguing against that.
My point is wanting to live in peace as EQUALS.

DeepThinkingGirl · 17/05/2021 21:15

I think the next title of the follow up of this thread should be

“Demonstrating Palestinian oppression”.

This thread, and the continual dismissal, demonstrates, exactly what a thousand words can’t speak.

piddocktrumperiness · 17/05/2021 21:15

I wanted to add that it’s home to all of us, Christians, Jews and Muslims, as it has been for centuries.

1/14 Killing blockaded civilians and destroying infrastructure on a massive scale: Israel is committing war crimes in the Gaza Strip btselem.org/gaza_strip/202…

3/14 In some cases, entire families were wiped out after Israel bombings. Some of the deaths have been attributed to rockets fired from the Gaza Strip towards Israel, B’Tselem is looking into these claims.

כאלף פלסטינים נוספים נפצעו. btselem.org/hebrew/gaza_st…

1/7 B'Tselem published an advert on the front page of @Haaretz today: The current violence throughout Israel/Palestine is an outcome of the apartheid regime that controls the entire area.

2/7 Under this regime, about half of the people who live between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea – Jews – are able to lead full lives and enjoy protection of their human rights, while the other half – Palestinians – cannot.
3/7 The appalling street violence we are seeing is heartbreaking, terrifying and must be forcefully condemned. Any violence against civilians is absolutely reprehensible. Yet the violence runs deeper than what can be captured on camera.

@DeepThinkingGirl so I’m just flagging again that you have now, not once but twice, accused posters on this thread some of whom I assume are Jewish (I am) of being in the pay of the Israeli government?

Have reported all.

Literally Jews, Christians and Muslims in the region massacred each other numerous times in history in the region... So I am not hopeful for the future peaceful coexistence. Perhaps it’s better apart.
