AIBU?
I want neighbours like the people that surrounded that van in Glasgow

These people are legends. This was the tonic I needed:

This is not about promoting lawlessness. Dawn raids are barbaric and it was EID.
Am I being unreasonable?

@nickymanchester
So, you are saying that the police must never go to a suspected criminal's home in the early morning?
You are also saying that suspected muslim criminals should not be questioned or arrested during eid?
I bet this solidarity is making you seethe!
IntermittentParps · 14/05/2021 15:37
so the police should be sent home when there's any religious event, should they?
The point is just that the timing was particularly insensitive (at best; quite possibly it was deliberate).
No idea what the video is about Clearly. Maybe watch it and then share a more informed opinion?

The protest was against the UK immigration authorities raiding during a pandemic and during eid. It isn't the way their communities feel this should be done. Good on them indeed. Some people feel it's outdated and barbaric to treat people like this and I have to agree.

Glasgow is like that @flashbac
You have so many decent people here who will stand up for others. And dont look down on others or patronize each other. Scotland is a very socialist country. We rejected brexit by a big majority. And we'll never have a tory right wing government. We do need a decent opposition right enough, and i say that as a yes voter. A lot of us would like independence as we see the westminster Johnson Government as totally alien to everything we believe in.
Of course like everywhere else we have poverty and a real desperate under class. Theres always been less jobs up here than anywhere ive lived in England. And housing is desperate in some areas as people bought council houses to line their pockets and now young people and families cant get decent housing.
And of course we have the blight of sectarianism. This weekend will see gatherings of football fans with little police resistance, if its anything like last time.
But on the whole, its a decent place to live.

I have watched it. That's why I can have an impartial opinion based on it!

Take the Eid issue away and the protest would still have occurred. That was just another point on the list. There's a real culture clash between the Scottish views on immigration and Westminster and that's the point. Peaceful protest is a great thing.
