You just cannot talk about Palestine on this forum

Why has the last thread been taken down with a ‘goady op’ message?
What’s so goady about asking why we can’t criticise the actions of Israel?
Don’t even give a shit this is a TAAT and will get zapped.

Palestine exists. Ethnic cleansing is happening. And every single thread gets taken down.

Only one person on that thread shouted anti semitism. Every one else was mostly in agreement about what is happening and it still gets zapped.

I’ll once again direct people to friends of al Aqsa on Instagram and Twitter in the hopes people see this and would like some real information.

Israel is an occupying oppressor committing genocide and the Palestinians are an oppressed people. There is no comparison in the force power and might of these two groups esp when one has the backing and funding of the US.

Seriously pissed at MN for refusing to allow truths to be told about the situation

living as a jew in a tiny country in the ME surrounded by those who would wipe you out if they could and have tried several times. The Israelis are utterly paranoid and not without good reason

Let's swap some words here:

living as a Palestinian in a tiny area in the ME surrounded by those who would wipe you out if they could and have tried several times. The Palestinians are utterly in fear and not without good reason

Well said.
TheReluctantPhoenix · 13/05/2021 12:15

@StoneofDestiny,

The reality is that Israel could wipe the Palestinians off the map in a heartbeat. They have not tried to do this as they are, on the whole (granted there are some horrible racists there too), a decent democratic nation.

On the other hand, the Arab nations have literally tried to push the Jews in Israel into the sea. It is not for want of trying that Israel is still in existence.

Diemme · 13/05/2021 12:18

Yes bro, we don’t like you. No one in the Arab world likes Israel

As a Jewish woman this hurts me to the core. But hey ho, no doubt my post will be deleted before yours. Just the times we're living in, calling out racism and antisemitism is considered worse than making the racist remark. You are antisemitic.

Acidburn · 13/05/2021 12:21

@Diemme Flowers

Diemme · 13/05/2021 12:23

Thank you!

dropdtuning · 13/05/2021 12:31

@Diemme

I'm Jewish too. It's utterly shit. It's been awful here the past few years. One of my sisters (we don't generally speak to each other) was on the phone to me last night in absolute floods of tears, just terrified about what is going to happen.

The past few years has taught me that while there are many people who are deeply, irretrievably antisemitic, there are also many decent people both here in the UK and around the world who can see it for what it is, and will be there with us if and when the worst happens again.

Acidburn · 13/05/2021 12:35

@dropdtuning we are not alone Flowers

RoseBearx · 13/05/2021 12:51

When Bosnian Muslim’s (of which is the identity of one of my grandparents) were being slaughtered in the 90s, the Serbs weren’t exempt from criticism on the world stage under the suggestion that any discussion of it was prejudiced. Why is Israel seemingly different? The ‘antisemite’ claim seems to be a way of shutting discussion down, of course there are plenty of disgusting anti-semites about who are unfortunately having a field day with this but the majority are not antisemites. Israel does not represent the Jewish population. There are plenty of Jew’s who are anti-Israel. Saying Israel=The Entire Religion of Judaism is doing nobody any favours.

There isn’t any solution to this that is going to make everybody happy. I don’t see how anybody can justify Israeli forces storming a mosque during worship though, you’d be really stretching to justify that one.

Wannakisstheteacher · 13/05/2021 12:53

Yes bro, we don’t like you. No one in the Arab world likes Israel

And this is why many Israelis and Jews think “why bother?”. Do you truly think Israel wants to live like this, constant rockets and violence directed at them?

Your painful immaturity ruins your argument. Just like when you look on Twitter and see one side posting “we will try and avoid all civilian casualties, but must defend ourselves” v’s “the only mistake Hitler made was not killing them all”.

Why would you ever negotiate with people who wish all of you dead?

DeepThinkingGirl · 13/05/2021 12:54

I’m sorry if my words caused offense.

My best friend is Jewish.
My grandad used to play football with Jewish Neigbours in Haifa. Before he was displaced.

I would never stand for anyone hating Jews. I would never stand for anyone violating human rights of Israelis.

I remember once as a child, I told my dad that I hated Jews. When I was really affected by what was happening in Palestine . And he told me off and told me how UniIslamic that was. He told me about his Jewish flatmate in college m.

I agree there is confusion between faith group and nationality in the Arab world.

I would never accept anti Semitism.

But I think it’s human nature to hate someone that insists on violating your human rights. And I’m here directing at at the Israeli government. And when someone comes here publically enabling them and excusing their actions that hurts ME to the core.

Because your feelings and mine both matter, equally. No one gets to have a monopoly over being hurt by racism.

What’s happening in Israel is racist. Fascist.

I wouldn’t be hurt to the core of you hated Hamas, I can totally understand your human experience and how it leads to that.

But you must be able to see me as a human being, to be able to comprehend why many Arabs indeed hate the Israeli government for ITs ACTIONS against them , snd thats a perfectly reasonable reason to hate someone.

SciFiScream · 13/05/2021 13:11

I'm reading this with interest thank you all for your emotional and intellectual labour. I'm horrified and embarrassed to admit I really don't know what's happening.

I'm 43. I remember hearing about Netanyahu and Arafat in the 90s and didn't understand it then.

I'm terrified of saying or asking the wrong thing.

DeepThinkingGirl · 13/05/2021 13:15

However I’m not advocating for anyone who isn’t directly impacted by the conflict to harbour ill feelings towards Israelis ... that’s not my aim.

That’s why I didn’t want to bring emotions into this.

Like I said, I’m perfectly capable of rising above my emotions and looking towards a better future .. and so are most Arabs..

When there is commitment to abide by international law and secure the human rights going forward..

And we are all aware that Israeli government does pay people to shut down those discussions on forums..

It’s done by turning debates into - antisemetism. If it doesn’t work, it’s whatabouteRy. If it doesn’t work, it’s emotions and history.. and then taking things personal enough to accuse the posters of being offensive, or dismissive..

Fair play. How many of you here who are offended on behalf of the Israeli government have actually addressed the actual topic?!

Everyone that breaks international law should have someone to answer to. Who does Israeli government answer to? And why?

Even if they wanna answer to someone and plead innocence.. but international law is being violated by both sides, each and every side needs to be held accountable and answer to international law.

Is more work needed in doing that or not ?

Is Israel immune from that ? Because somehow some people can’t dissociate their sense of identity from a government and choose to be offended ?

No. I don’t think so.

Everyone is accountable, especially leadership

You think so? You've seen the scenes coming out of Germany and Austria have you? Massive gangs shouting 'f*k the Jews'. Synagogues attacked everywhere. Every Jewish parent I know is terrified that a conflict many thousands miles away will result in something horrible for them.

Not anti Israel, anti Israeli government policy. I think that it's very important to differentiate between disliking a country and disliking the policies of an incumbent government. There are many people who have had reason in history to dislike the British government for example because of its foreign policy but I would hope that there aren't lots of people who dislike Britain as a country.
Adventureswith · 13/05/2021 13:33

Jesus, the bar is pretty low if a country expects thanks or respect for not wiping another wine off the map. And anyone who thinks Israel’s ‘restraint’ is because they’re ‘decent’ is delusional- there would be massive repercussions for Israel if it decided to use its military might to destroy another country. Even the Palestinians.

JustFedUpOfThis · 13/05/2021 13:37

Every Jewish parent I know is terrified that a conflict many thousands miles away will result in something horrible for them.

Whilst every Palestinian family is wondering the same, except their conflict is on top of their heads.

Idiots will conflate Israeli and Jewish and I’m deeply ashamed of British people who do so. But idiots also conflate Terrorists and Palestinians and that has extremely grave consequence for innocent Palestinian civilians.

Just like I don’t hold Muslims to account for the actions of ISIS, I don’t hold Jewish people to account for the actions of Israel. The problem is Israel and its government.

museumsandgalleries666 · 13/05/2021 13:40
@SofiaMichelle so it's Anti-Semitic to criticise Israel's handling of things (not just Jews) but it's OK to generalise that all Palestinians murder their children? Right
Jeeez reign it in. You're putting bullshit in their mouth. @sofiamichelle didn't say anything of the sort

ConfusedAdultFemale · 13/05/2021 13:43

After reading some of the info on Israel, I feel sorry for both sides. They’ve all had it rough.

TheReluctantPhoenix · 13/05/2021 13:46

@Adventureswith,

Do you know what the Hamas charter is? Or what their aims are? They want to destroy ALL JEWS, not all Israelis (although that would be pretty bad).

Were the power imbalance in the other direction, we would be seeing another Holocaust. For that reason, yes, regarding Hamas, I would call the Israelis restrained.

I genuinely cannot imagine many countries not mounting a full invasion of a country on their doorstep lobbing missiles at them.

Acidburn · 13/05/2021 13:47

@JustFedUpOfThis could you please provide us with a plan of how should Israel fight the terrorists that are hiding within civilians? I would be interested to hear your thoughts on what to do, not what NOT to do.
