You just cannot talk about Palestine on this forum

Why has the last thread been taken down with a ‘goady op’ message?
What’s so goady about asking why we can’t criticise the actions of Israel?
Don’t even give a shit this is a TAAT and will get zapped.

Palestine exists. Ethnic cleansing is happening. And every single thread gets taken down.

Only one person on that thread shouted anti semitism. Every one else was mostly in agreement about what is happening and it still gets zapped.

I’ll once again direct people to friends of al Aqsa on Instagram and Twitter in the hopes people see this and would like some real information.

Israel is an occupying oppressor committing genocide and the Palestinians are an oppressed people. There is no comparison in the force power and might of these two groups esp when one has the backing and funding of the US.

Seriously pissed at MN for refusing to allow truths to be told about the situation

Ok @Acidburn
I will no longer respond to your posts.
I thought a discussion on a forum means that’s exactly what you do but ok you can just talk in to the wind I guess Confusedand we’ll just ignore you instead?

Please don’t lie though and try and get this thread deleted.
I have not said one single personal thing about you at all. You can report my posts and see if Mumsnet deletes them.
The word anecdote is not an insult.

But as you say you don’t want anyone to respond you directly so ok

Acidburn is hoping to provoke a strong enough reaction to her accusations that she gets the thread shut down. It's the same old same old diversion - call people anti Semitic if they oppose the Israeli Government.

Well, some of us won't be shut down that easily. Some of us will continue to speak up against injustice. Israeli is breaking international Law on a daily basis, has deliberately created an apartheid state, and will not be happy until the have got all Palestinians in ghettoes on the worst land, with limited resources, few prospects and no human rights.

DeepThinkingGirl · 12/05/2021 22:07

It's not that in my view - I don't blindly support any country but I will continue to put the argument across on behalf of Israel, because it's vital that you continue exist as the only Jewish state in the entire world, and there are no shortage of people in the world of all faiths and none that wish that wasn't the case.

Ok thank you for being honest about your reasoning.

You believe that because the Jews have the right to have their own protected state that you will always back Israel.

But this debate isn’t about Israel existing or not. I’m sure you can understand that any conflict resulting from Jews finding their state on an inhabited land was going to be a matter of conflict..

So let’s leave that aside.. I understand your perspective and loyalty to Israel over the Palestinians.

But, is it unconditional loyalty? Blind unconditional loyalty?

Do you never hold your leaderships accountable?

Acidburn · 12/05/2021 22:08

@Justnot if you throw rocks into random people - sooner or later you will get punched. And don't make it personal, it was just a way to describe your weird logic.

Faffandahalf · 12/05/2021 22:08

@DeepThinkingGirl is trying really hard to steer the conversation to the here and now, the present, the current situation which I really appreciate.

Let’s keep focus on that rather than who hates who the most.

I haven't done anything to contribute to this war. Neither has my father, who is 73 and has to run to the bomb shelter every single time the siren goes off

Some of us are the children of men who fought to liberate the Jewish people from a Fascist dictatorship. Some of us lost our fathers doing exactly that. Be thankful your father is alive. I know mine would be turning in his grave if he could see where this new Fascism has arisen.

Farmology · 12/05/2021 22:13

‘ This must be so nice to sit in the UK and talk about the issue when it's not your family who is in danger.’

I’m From Northern Ireland and grew up in the Troubles. My family are mixed, so the equivalent of Arabs marrying Jews. Which made us targets on both sides.
I have been in countless bombs and bombs scares. My family home/business was destroyed in a terrorist attack. We suffered financially, as many people did in the Troubles, lack of opportunity,
Discrimination in employment.
We have 4 murdered family members in total, 2 children. bombs again. All civilians, all ‘collateral’ damage.
My parents were discriminated against, harassed, threatened for being together.
My siblings and I as children were threatened, attacked by both neighbours and the authorities.
So maybe I do know what I’m talking about, and maybe I do know, as I did even as a child, that not only are there 2 sides to every story but that a bunch of politicians yelling ‘no surrender’ at each other and men with guns running around threatening each other and a Government declaring that it won’t negotiate with terrorist will lead to nothing.

Acidburn · 12/05/2021 22:14

@StoneofDestiny i don't want to get the thread deleted, honestly I don't.
I have repeatedly said I disagree with what this Government is doing.
But I don't think its fair to blame Israel for all the problems that Palestinian civilians are experiencing. I do believe that Palestine needs to be free - but from Hamas in the first place, and only then there is a chance.

Farmology · 12/05/2021 22:16

@Acidburn and respectively many people disagree.

headintheproverbial · 12/05/2021 22:19

I agree OP and in fact would go as far as to say the entire western world is like this. I have colleagues in Tel Aviv and I feel sorry for them and worry for their safety but the idea I would ever question whether Israel has a part to play seems outlandish. I find it bizarre.

Lauren15 · 12/05/2021 22:20

@StoneofDestiny brilliant posts- you are worthy of your username!

Acidburn · 12/05/2021 22:21

@Farmology many people disagree that Hamas needs to go?

Cosmos123 · 12/05/2021 22:24

How the conflict is reported.

You just cannot talk about Palestine on this forum
Faffandahalf · 12/05/2021 22:26

I assume Farmology means disagree that Israel’s actions are not to blame for Palestinian oppression. She believes many people would say they are in fact to blame.

OP posts:
Adventureswith · 12/05/2021 22:28

At least 65 Palestinian deaths now, 16 children. Hundreds more injured in the air attacks. It’s just going to get worse - what a mess. Doesn’t seem to matter who condemns the strikes.

Faffandahalf · 12/05/2021 22:28

I don’t think that picture is especially helpful @Cosmos123

I think we can agree that mainstream news reporting is biased in the extreme towards Israel. Words like clash/conflict/rising tensions etc when there have been footage of Israeli police attacks on mosques and dragging young girls around by their hijabs.

OP posts:
Adventureswith · 12/05/2021 22:31

The BBC probably have the most straightforward coverage from a bias POV.

Way too simplistic Acidburn. First you need to understand why Hamas exists in the first place, and why it has any support.
.

Adventureswith · 12/05/2021 22:44

Egyptians reportedly trying to broker some kind of talks but Israeli given not having it at the moment.

Adventureswith · 12/05/2021 22:45

I guess don’t engage then with anyone trying to get the thread shut down? Although, if it’s like other threads then just comments that break the posting rules should go and not a whole thread anyway.

BringMeTea · 12/05/2021 22:57

I am so glad to see this thread still here.

Beautiful footage. The good times when all three faiths were stronger together.

Good night everyone.
