Why has the last thread been taken down with a ‘goady op’ message?
What’s so goady about asking why we can’t criticise the actions of Israel?
Don’t even give a shit this is a TAAT and will get zapped.

Palestine exists. Ethnic cleansing is happening. And every single thread gets taken down.

Only one person on that thread shouted anti semitism. Every one else was mostly in agreement about what is happening and it still gets zapped.

I’ll once again direct people to friends of al Aqsa on Instagram and Twitter in the hopes people see this and would like some real information.

Israel is an occupying oppressor committing genocide and the Palestinians are an oppressed people. There is no comparison in the force power and might of these two groups esp when one has the backing and funding of the US.

Seriously pissed at MN for refusing to allow truths to be told about the situation

@StoneofDestiny

I do believe that Palestine needs to be free - but from Hamas in the first place, and only then there is a chance

Way too simplistic Acidburn. First you need to understand why Hamas exists in the first place, and why it has any support.
.

Absolutely this.
Jente · 13/05/2021 00:13

The UK doesn't give a shit about Palestinian children. This country colonised the world and commited huge atrocities against native peoples in Ireland, America, Australia and New Zealand to name a few. Palestine was just another notch on the bedpost. It will never be acknowledged, never faced up to.

White European guilt over their own actions in the Holocaust will always be assuaged by dumping on dehumanised brown people. It will always be explained away. I don't expect anything more. It's futile.

DeepThinkingGirl · 13/05/2021 00:17

Jente

I have no faith in governments. This is all deliberate sidelining of Palestinian rights.

But I have massive faith in humanity and people. And in their ability to put pressure to make it hard for international law makers to sideline Palestinians.

The youth are resisting using social media. And the rest of us need to echo their voices.

And we need to corner our politicians into making a stand for human rights. Regardless for whatever side of the conflict they want to be on if any, human rights should be non negotiable

Ikeasucks · 13/05/2021 00:19

What fo the Palestinians actually want, truly want

Jente · 13/05/2021 00:20

I hope you are right @DeepThinkingGirl. I hope you are right. It's been a long time coming and I appreciate you trying.

Adventureswith · 13/05/2021 06:50

@DeepThinkingGirl I hope so, that's what ended up happening with S.A. and their Apartheid, though it was allowed to exist for far too long.

Acidburn · 13/05/2021 07:01

Here you go, very uncomfortable video for your narrative.

Adventureswith · 13/05/2021 07:29

I'm not going to bother with any links that aren't from a news organisation. I'm looking at everything from BBC and CNN to the Daily Fail and local papers and there's nothing there to make me change my mind. It's an absolute mess and the collective punishment of the Palestinian people needs to stop. Hamas aren't going away anymore than the IRA/Sinn Fein went away.

WhyDontWe · 13/05/2021 07:46

@Jente, said: This country colonised the world and committed huge atrocities against native peoples in Ireland, America, Australia and New Zealand to name a few.

Yes indeed we have, but we don't anymore. In fact you remember the huge outrage here about the Iraq involvement.

The best summary I've seen: "Israel hates bombing civilians but when Palestinians resist our efforts to evict them and steal their land, what else are we supposed to do?"

Did anyone posting here see the Netflix series Fauda? I really enjoyed it.

Acidburn · 13/05/2021 07:58

@WhyDontWe i saw Fauda. Very very accurate.

CourtAndSpark2 · 13/05/2021 07:58

@WhyDontWe, I think you looking at things through (slighted) rose tinted glasses. Indeed there were protests again Iraq intervention, but we still went ahead and did it anyway. I was also surprised at the recent NI massacre report (admit I only read the headlines).

Israel is doing things I'd consider very very wrong, but we've done similar things (and a lot worse). Given human nature, and a strong military, I'm not sure so we would not do again in future.

Acidburn · 13/05/2021 08:01

@Adventureswith do you know that every single time before striking - IDF drop a non explosive smoke making device to let the civilians know that this building will be bombed, so they can leave? Have you ever heard of that? Have you ever heard that they are very specific about who they target, but the terrorists choose to place their weapons in civilians houses? Specifically so later on they can complain that IDF have killed the civilians! This is how terrorists operate - they do not value human lives, which was proven every single time they blew themselves up in public places...

Save the Children are doing everything they can to try to support kids in the area, no more than ever they'll be needed.

www.savethechildren.org.uk/content/dam/gb/reports/defenceless_impact_of_detention_on_palestinian_children.pdf

And this is a great report on how children in the region are suffering in this conflict and how they can be helped.

Feckfeckfeck123 · 13/05/2021 08:14

Well, this is interesting.

Eid mubarak to those celebrating. And thinking of the Palestinians on their holy day this morning, in particular those that have lost their loved ones, their homes, those currently living in fear of constant bombardment. 69 now killed, 17 of them children.

You just cannot talk about Palestine on this forum
StoneofDestiny · 13/05/2021 08:16

Acidburn. Here is a report from 2014. Their strategic targeting and smoke warnings really work don't they?

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip -- Israeli forces fired a tank shell at a hospital in Gaza on Monday, killing at least four people and injuring 40 others, health officials said.

It was the third hospital Israel's military has struck since launching a ground offensive in Gaza last week

The four people killed at al-Aqsa Hospital on Monday included one patient and three visitors, health officials told NBC News.

Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf Al-Qidra told Reuters that the tank shell hit the third floor of the building that houses an intensive care unit and operating rooms.

Adventureswith · 13/05/2021 08:18

@Feckfeckfeck123. That's the problem with information coming from official Israeli sources, or all those videos being share on FB or Instagram that turn out to be from 2 different combatants several years ago in a different country as 'proof' that the Gaza should be bombed, just can't trust it.
But there's plenty of coverage out there from real news sources showing the impact of the conflict on both sides.

Justsocross · 13/05/2021 08:18

The world has ignored the plight of Palestine for a long time . We need to be able to talk on forums such as mn . The more people talk And question what is happening the soon the world will sit up and help resolve the problems in Israel

StoneofDestiny · 13/05/2021 08:19

Adventureswith
Yes, that is a practical way to support the victims. Also, Amnesty International could do with more help to ensure their on the ground news and coverage gets to more people.

CourtAndSpark2 · 13/05/2021 08:22

@Acidburn, I enjoyed it too.

www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2018/may/23/the-next-homeland-problems-with-fauda-israel-brutal-tv-hit

"It portrays the infiltrator unit, whose members (mostly male, but there is one woman) kill, torture, assault and violently threaten Palestinians in a manner that jars with any claims of moral superiority."

TheQueef · 13/05/2021 08:24

Thank you to posters on this thread, I'm learning.

CourtAndSpark2 · 13/05/2021 08:25

Shabi has her perspective, @Acidburn has his/hers

Adventureswith · 13/05/2021 08:33

Action Aid also do great work, supporting mainly women and children in OPTs and they again have great information about why they feel the need to work in Gaza and the West Bank. When it comes down to it 50% of the population in Gaza are children and they are suffering daily.

"Why we work in Gaza

Since 2007, Gaza has been living under a blockade, meaning people and goods are prevented from freely entering and leaving Gaza by land, sea, or air. This severely limits basic necessities like food, medicine, and building materials from getting into Gaza.

The blockade makes life near impossible for the 1.8 million people who live there – 1.2 million of whom are refugees. Most people have little or no access to essential resources such as electricity, water, and sewage removal.

Half the population of Gaza is children. Many have experienced conflict for a large part of their life and are battling with severe trauma and emotional distress. And their education has been affected too: over 250 schools were damaged or destroyed in 2014 alone.

The blockade, repeated conflict, and increasing poverty has had a devastating impact on Gaza’s economy. Three out of seven people are unemployed, giving Gaza the highest unemployment rate in the world."

I'm sure no-one on here would disagree that children, caught up in a conflict they aren't responsible for shouldn't be helped.

StoneofDestiny · 13/05/2021 08:34

Fauda..........overwhelmingly narrated from an Israeli viewpoint, focused on the Israeli protagonists. More so than in the first series, the Israeli occupation is nowhere to be seen – there’s no wall, no settlements or settlers, no house demolitions, only a few small checkpoints and none of the everyday brutalities of life under occupation. Yes, it shows that Palestinians love their mothers, but it also renders them as violent fanatics without a political cause The Guardian

Hardly an accurate documentary.

Adventureswith · 13/05/2021 08:36

gave up on 'Fauda' for the same reason I did 'Homeland' can't bear 'Torture porn'. I
