Why has the last thread been taken down with a ‘goady op’ message?
What’s so goady about asking why we can’t criticise the actions of Israel?
Don’t even give a shit this is a TAAT and will get zapped.

Palestine exists. Ethnic cleansing is happening. And every single thread gets taken down.

Only one person on that thread shouted anti semitism. Every one else was mostly in agreement about what is happening and it still gets zapped.

I’ll once again direct people to friends of al Aqsa on Instagram and Twitter in the hopes people see this and would like some real information.

Israel is an occupying oppressor committing genocide and the Palestinians are an oppressed people. There is no comparison in the force power and might of these two groups esp when one has the backing and funding of the US.

Seriously pissed at MN for refusing to allow truths to be told about the situation

The Hamas leader has said they will escalate if Israel does, or back down if Israel does. The Mayor of LOD is warning of civil war between it's citizens, there are Arab Israelis as well as Jewish ones.

All the guff about who's 'Holy' land this is or isn't is pretty much irrelevant isn't? Jerusalem is an important site for Christians, Jews and Muslims but that's not actually got anything to do with Israel trying to start a ground war to chuck the Palestinians out once and for all.

DeepThinkingGirl · 12/05/2021 16:24

I think both sides have made many mistakes and continue to do so. Israel have a much better defence system and use it to protect themselves. Should they switch off their shield system and let Hamas and the Jihadi group bomb them to appease others so they all have the same amount of innocent loss of life. Neither side look good and the innocents suffer.

I would like your input on what you feel the residents of Sheikh Jarrah have done wrong ? These were civilians vs soldiers. And don’t you think n they have right to protection by international law ?

Painting everyone with the same brush

Painting everyone in the same brush is quite manipulative in situations like this one.

Mr Netanyahu described the riots as "unbearable" and said they reminded the Jewish people of their past

Utter Bollox Netanyahu - this is a present you have created and a future you have determined. Shame on you and those who support you.

He knows it’s utter bollocks. The world also knows its utter bollocks. But it’s a good enough lame excuse until he can buy time while the world is reduced to confusion and inaction due to their exploited sympathy, that way he get some retaliations and justify his further settlements.

There is absolutely no incentive for him to have the approval of the international law. They don’t hold him accountable ever.

But he needs to manipulate the public enough so that the media circulated about human rights violations don’t make it to those in power before he does with his skewed narrative.

The past needs to be brought in somehow. Or religion. Or anything deeply emotive and personal to FOG our minds.

Until we recognise this and built intellectual immunity from this manipulation.

This discussion needs to be had. No it’s not a century long debate that leads to nowhere. It will lead to somewhere.

Those civilians documenting their suffering are doing this because they have faith in international communities standing up for humanity. They have faith in each one of us to value human rights and human life.

And we need to honor that. By having this discussion about how they can have their basics human rights protected. Everyone should. Everywhere.

Zotter · 12/05/2021 16:55
@Zotter - I have already regretted phrasing it like that! My point was, as you say, Palestine has always had its supporters who have helped keep the conflict deadly.

But, as I said to OP when I first posted, I had hoped the whole post made my perspective clear when snippets did not!
Thanks @CuriousaboutSamphire, I hear you.

To this thread, NRT all the thread. Israel situation is complex though Bibi is a hawk and I suspect would be happy to continue building Jewish settlements in West Bank, East Jerusalem until no viable two state solution.

Was some hope with Rabin.

JustFedUpOfThis · 12/05/2021 17:04

saying it’s okay to bomb some children because they have shelters and they started it - come on!

Melodramatic, made-up shite designed to undermine those who oppose your view. Absolutely no one wants any children or anyone for that matter, bombed and no-one has said anything like that.

You should apologise for making such an offensive statement which is as goady as it is untrue.

Puttingouthefirewithgasoline · 12/05/2021 17:08

Please don't zap this, I too struggle to understand the issues over there and many mn are great at explaining the issues. I love the fact we usually hear both sides also.

Lol, I would like to carry on the discussion but I think im going to leave now as ive started seeing double(... or triple, maybe quadruple!!!).
Wink

CuriousaboutSamphire · 12/05/2021 17:21

@Zotter I was listening to Radio2 (I know, JV is bloody awful) but his callers on the subject showed just how polarised and angry people are. Justifiably angry in the historical aspects they cleave to, both sides.

The ring of encampments was touched on and the usual "There is no zoning policy, people live where they want to live" vs "We are being forced out and, when we have gone they say 'Look! Nobody lives there" Both true but neither is the whole story.

And the lone voice of sanity from a man, I think, living in the middle of it all! Just stop! We can live in peace.

But Hamas aren't listening and the Israeli government won't stop their steel dome response. Netanyahu is being as belligerent as ever.

gaaaaaaaargh!

Alonim · 12/05/2021 17:34

I don't want to derail. Perhaps this has already been said. Perhaps this has nothing to do with the situation ... well it must have in a way.

Religion. If only it was less tribal - and more individual/personal.

Well -
 1. Israel is the world’s only Jewish state
 2. Israeli Jews and Palestinian Arabs both want the same land
 3. An early United Nations plan to give each group part of the land failed, and Israel and the surrounding Arab nations fought several wars over the territory. Today’s lines largely reflect the outcomes of two of these wars, one waged in 1948 and another in 1967.
 4. The 1967 war is particularly important for today’s conflict, as it left Israel in control of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, two territories home to large Palestinian populations.
 5. Today, the West Bank is controlled by the Palestinian Authority and is under Israeli occupation who enforce Israeli security restrictions on Palestinian movement and activities, and Israeli “settlers,” Jews who build ever-expanding communities in the West Bank that effectively deny the land to Palestinians. Gaza is controlled by Hamas, an Islamist fundamentalist party, and is under Israeli blockade but not ground troop occupation.
 6. So what to do - a two state solution dividing the land - neither side have been able to agree to this or a one state solution - neither side agree to this.

So they basically continue on and on with no end in sight and innocent civilians killed. Bloody sad.

DeepThinkingGirl · 12/05/2021 17:37

But Hamas aren't listening and the Israeli government won't stop their steel dome response.

I think it’s dangerous to frame this as a Hamas vs Israeli government. It distorts the narrative.

The East Jerusalem inhabitents aren’t under the rule of Hamas.

This was Israeli soldiers clashing with civilians on land ownership.

Everything else becomes polarising. But this isn’t. This is clear breach of international law by one side.

This wasn’t an Israeli response. This was an Israeli land grabbing agenda.

Of defenseless armless civilians.

Imonlyhumanafterall2021 · 12/05/2021 17:37

It's not 'guff' about the land being Holy .... the Jews have considered Jerusalem holy for thousands of years, the Christians considered it Holy for 2000 years and the Muslims considered the area Holy for just over 650 years or so.....

You are deflecting from the main issue. Palestinians are being chucked out of their lands by Israeli soldiers protecting settlers on Palestinians territory.

Are you saying that the narrative of history you provided mean that Israel is immune to break international law?

Are you saying Israel is above international law? And must be protected in whatever it does in the region ?

Because I would like that to be challenged.

It’s a load of guff when you are discussing a humanitarian issue with a secular international community who don’t follow the same religion as you.

You religious beliefs are between you and god.

The question is, would you think that because of your narrative of history that Israel shouldn’t be challenged when breaking international law ?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 12/05/2021 17:47

Sorry @DeepThinkingGirl It is impossible to reference every single extant factor in every post.

But today in response to the radio reports I was specifically referring to, that sentence is as true as any other.
