To be in pyjamas on a Sunday afternoon?

Went out this morning for a walk with the kids and got absolutely soaked. When we got in I had a shower and put on clean pyjamas and planned to spend the rest of the day lounging and eating and watching films.
The door went and it was a neighbour picking up a parcel that was left. Never really spoken to her much since she moved in. When I answered she immediately said oh my goodness have I got you out of bed. I said no and handed the parcel. She took a deliberate look at her watch and then asked if I was ill.
Surely it’s not so odd to be in pyjamas on a miserable wet Sunday?!

I wouldn't have thought anything of it, if someone was still in their pjs.

joysexrenovated · 09/05/2021 16:58

Nope. I was at the allotment from around 7am and got soaked in an unexpected downpour this afternoon. I was home showered and in pjs by 3.

romdowa · 09/05/2021 17:02

If I'm at home I'm usually in pjs. How rude of her to make such a fuss about it as well

KurtWilde · 09/05/2021 17:03

If I'm at home I'm in my pjs, doesn't matter what time of day it is.

AdoraBell · 09/05/2021 17:06

YANBU. I always put my pyjamas on after a shower/bath unless I’m going out.

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 09/05/2021 17:06

Been in mine all day. Need to nip out soon but as soon as I get back I'll be straight back in them again

fairynick · 09/05/2021 17:07

I would never even dream of wearing jeans round the house. As soon as I get in from wherever I have been it’s straight to pjs/loungewear.

purplecorkheart · 09/05/2021 17:08

I only wear pjs for bed (I grew up in a house where you never wore pjs outside your bedroom/bathroom unless you were sick and have developed that habit unnecessarily). However I would never ever judge someone wearing them in their own home and certainly not to a neighbour who was kind enough to take a parcel in for me.

lolacola77 · 09/05/2021 17:08

She was a CF. I'm barely out of my PJs! I've always changed into them the second I get home!

Akire · 09/05/2021 17:10

How old were they? Some older people see it as sign of lazyness. When my mum comes to stay and we are in pjs and drinking wine say 7pm. She will flat out refuse to open the door to pizza delivery “what will they think” Grin

motherloaded · 09/05/2021 17:10

It's your home, you do what you want. I would have thought the same as your neighbour though, that you were in bed or unwell. It's not about judgment, it's feeling embarrassed to have bothered you!

It wouldn't occur to me to put nightwear on until I go to bed, so each to their own.

TheWeekendMum · 09/05/2021 17:10

Sunday is pj day in my house unless we're going out.

user1471538283 · 09/05/2021 17:11

I've been known to get dressed for Sunday lunch out then into pyjamas the second I get home!

mmmmmchocolate · 09/05/2021 17:11

I love being in pyjamas, I’m not in them right now because I’ve got to get DD from her boyfriends shortly. Otherwise I’d have been in them 2 hours ago 😂

In the winter I barely wear outdoor clothes at the weekend. Your neighbour is weird. And rude.

Burnt0utMum · 09/05/2021 17:11

Sounds like a perfect Sunday! Ignore her.

halcyondays · 09/05/2021 17:12

Yanbu and looking pointedly at her watch was rude.

Coldwine75 · 09/05/2021 17:13

Not weird at all, athough personally I couldnt be in pjs all day but thats just me, mind you lounging about eating sounds heaven !

Pemba · 09/05/2021 17:14

I wouldn't take in any parcels for her again. She's rude and weirdly judgy.

FleetwoodRaincoat · 09/05/2021 17:15

I find it weird that people wear pyjamas all day. What if someone calls round or you need to go out of your front door?

Do you sleep in the same ones? Surely tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt would work instead.

KurtWilde · 09/05/2021 17:16

@FleetwoodRaincoat then I answer the door or go outside in my pjs. They're only clothes when all's said and done!

vodkaredbullgirl · 09/05/2021 17:17

I work nights, so often in my pjs during the day.

honeyytoast · 09/05/2021 17:17

The only time I’ll get dressed into proper clothes is if I’m specifically leaving the house straight away

vodkaredbullgirl · 09/05/2021 17:18

Oh and I often answer the door to Iceland, still in my pjs and dressing gown.

NavigatingAdolescence · 09/05/2021 17:19

Been in mine all day. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Fluffinell · 09/05/2021 17:22

Why should you have to wear something less comfortable at any given time because someone may knock at the door uninvited?
If I had to step outside my door to say take the bin out or get something from the car I would chuck trainers on and go out! If I were going further I’d put clothes on. I’m always clean, just as comfortable as can be in my own home.
