Just going through those early great albums, The Slim Shady, The Marshall Mathers LP, the Eminem show...and thinking what a genius. I’ve also had some glasses of wine so am rambling. But those brilliant lyrics. Sigh....anyone agree?

Some of his work is outstanding. Some is terrifying. Lots wouldn't be released today.

He is a lyrical genius. I don't listen to enough rap to say if he's the GOAT but he is excellent.

He’s definitely up there. The combination of him and Dre as a production was truly masterful. I don’t get the same feelings from his new work though which is a shame, but he’s not really working with Dre and has changed himself a lot since then. He’s grown up and is no longer angry at everyone so I can see why his music has changed.

I think he’s the best shock rapper but not THE best of all time. Especially lately.

I love Eminem. DH thinks he's shite. He likes rap I hate though, I don't like any other rap really.

I don't really know a lot of rap artists but yes some great stuff on those albums.

At risk of sounding like my grandma but most chart rap these days just seems all about partying and banging and its really dull.

Umm, Darryl McDaniels, LL Cool J, Andre 3000, Queen Latifah, Kanye ... All of them knock Eminem into a cocked hat.

Eminem was the sound of my yoof he resonates with so many people but I agree that his newer tracks are far less irate.

He’s good and I like him but not GOAT imo.

I adored Nas growing up and found early Kanye pretty mind blowing and can still remember the excitement I felt when he first started making a name for himself. I don’t LOVE Jay-Z but he’s more successful than Eminem and doesn’t have to try as hard.

Tupac and Biggie were better imo. Tupac had the lyrics and Biggie had the flow.
