Just going through those early great albums, The Slim Shady, The Marshall Mathers LP, the Eminem show...and thinking what a genius. I’ve also had some glasses of wine so am rambling. But those brilliant lyrics. Sigh....anyone agree?

Whilst Eminem is without doubt a truly amazing rapper, especially his earlier stuff. Tupac is without doubt the GOAT.

I’d say Tupac. Have you all watched The Defiant Ones on Netflix? Fascinating. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Also, can I mention some women? Lauryn Hill and Missy Elliot are both underrated in their rap.

Missy is a pioneer of course. I always loved her videos, they were so out there, high concept and interesting. She’s so creative.

Loads of underrated uk artists. Wretch 32, Avelino, Akala is absolutely amazing, you should check out his Fire in the booth 1-4 on You tube. Actually, check all of their FITB.

Saw him live almost 20 years ago now, he was amazing. His lyrics are incredible.

I think Kanye is awful, not even comparable IMO.

Bizarre coincidence! Was saying exactly this earlier after kids forced me to listen to the current number 1. Was showing them what a decent record sounds like through Slim Shady

Love Lauryn Hill, Tupac, and Kendrick Lamar etc. but yeah, OP, I think Eminem is (was, haven’t heard the latest album) pure, shocking brilliance.

He’s a white rapper so people think he’s a genius. Truth is he isn’t a patch on black rappers. Even Nicki Minaj runs rings around him in terms of lyrical content

I'm too white to know the right way to say it but his 'flow' and word play are excellent. Saw him live at a stadium with lots of other rap acts where he was the headliner and I was so disappointed. There was no off the cuff remarks or pumping up the crowd or free styling. It was note for note every track exactly as it was on the album. Cypress Hill and Xzbit blew him out of the water live.

Eminem is a good rapper but there are plenty better. He got a huge amount of profile from being white, highly offensive and absoutely vile to and about women.

Greatest! Appeals to everyone. I dont really appreciate any rap music. A bit of Dre maybe. But Eminem, I owned albums!
