John Barrowman put his dick on co-star's shoulder

John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness has (had?) been my all-time favourite Doctor Who character. I knew JB has a history of indecently exposing himself on set multiple times, but today I learned that he not only exposed his dick repeatedly but also non-consensually touched fellow actors with it -- like Camille Coduri (who played Rose Tyler's mum)!

AIBU to think that he got away with this only because he is gay? If he had been straight, wouldn't non-consensually putting his dick on his female co-star's body from behind have landed him loads of trouble already? I was utterly shocked to watch the video -- I don't know how I should be feeling after learning that my favourite Doctor Who actor behaved in this despicable manner. Shock

It's about power. He's able to behave that way and get away with it because he has power.

I once worked in an office where a particular man would start talking about mastibation loudly whenever he noticed I was in ear shot, everyone looked uncomfortable but no one said anything. If he caught me alone he'd whisper insults about me. JB reminds me of him, attention seeking, bullying.

flashylamp · 08/05/2021 12:29

He didn't expose himself. He flapped his hands around, miming a fart, fully clothed

He 100% showed his arse.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 08/05/2021 12:34

ok it was a strange thing for JB to do, yet it was 12 years ago
he has apologised.
end of story

It's not end of story though. Abusive predators don't change because they said sorry. Abusive predators should be exposed at every turn.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 08/05/2021 12:40

we could say jb is not an abusive predator
he admits to being a prankster

longwayoff · 08/05/2021 12:41

@TheQueef, come on, you know that in that case context was all. That was one of the greatest 'art' moments of the century, Jarvis showing his arse to the perverse conman MJ who was attempting to convey himself as a Messianic saviour. All about hypocrisy and the emperor's new clothes and not about sex.

rabbitcow · 08/05/2021 12:43

@DontDrinkDontSmokeWhatDoIDo

It's disgusting, it's abuse of power and he should be put out to pasture.

I'm sure there are many, many more of them.

For example, I was at an industry dinner in 2019. About 1,500 people.

Alexander Armstrong was the host.
His opening 'joke' was...

"What has 100 legs and no pubes?"
"The front row of a Justin Bieber concert".

Can you imagine what his behind the scenes comments & attitudes are if that's his public persona just two years ago?

That is revolting.
VestaTilley · 08/05/2021 12:43

YANBU. It’s disgusting, it’s sexual assault and he should be arrested. I hope he doesn’t get TV work again.

Many gay men are extremely misogynistic- but they get away with it because they’re gay. Enough.

Pintosmash · 08/05/2021 12:44

Pranks aren't getting your cock out in the workplace all thr time, that's called being an abusive creep.
Mrsfrumble · 08/05/2021 12:47

Jarvis didn’t “expose” his arse though Confused He stuck it out and waggled it around before he was dragged off stage but it remained fully clothed throughout. I’ve just watched it on YouTube to check I wasn’t misremembering (how can it be 25 years ago?!)

flashylamp · 08/05/2021 12:47

'We' could say?

I feel for any of the women on this thread sharing your attitude, and there are many. It's really shocking how low people set the bar for basic level stuff. Whipping your cock out, uninvited, at work is not a 'prank' it's sexually abusive behaviour. Men get away with it because of the women in this thread defending and minimising it.

CynsterBitch · 08/05/2021 12:47

There have been a few articles mentioning this in the last few days, off the back of the NC allegations. The difference being the same people who call NC a predator also mention JB whipping his Willy out as something jokey, non-sexual. They are obviously not scared of telling the truth, if they had found JBs behavior to be harassment surely they would have no problem expressing this?
Also this was reported back in when it happened and JB was reprimanded. There doesn’t seem to be any inappropriate Willy exposing after that

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 08/05/2021 12:49

I've found this too but can rarely say it out loud. I've met many gay men who find female anatomy disgusting and are very vocal about it. I've also found that straight women have hugely supported the gay right's movement throughout the years but I rarely see a gay championing women's rights - quite the opposite (Owen Jones is a raging misogynist)

He did that not in a sexually harassing way, he did it clearly to take the piss out of the self absorbed wankfest that was Michael Jackson singing What About Us as he portrayed some sort of Jesus character as POC worshipped at his feet. Good for Jarvis Cocker I say.
Mrsfrumble · 08/05/2021 12:53

Oh I agree @FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop. I remember 17 yo me watching it live and cheering when he did it Grin

I was just pointed out that he didn’t actually expose his buttocks!

FrangipaniDeLaSqueegeeMop · 08/05/2021 12:55

@Mrsfrumble me too it was brilliant!! I fancied the arse off Jarvis Cocker still do

Pintosmash · 08/05/2021 13:06

He was reprimanded before that by Andrew Lloyd webbers production company when he sunset boulevard (1995) yet still continued, he has a long history of doing this, proudly talks about it on TV shows.

Blue4YOU · 08/05/2021 13:15

For those of you saying his “prankinf” isn’t sexual assault you don’t get to decide that.. the people he did it to get to (in case you don’t know what I’m referring to The Sexual Offences Act 2003 helps clear this up.
It doesn’t matter if JB “intended” humour - (why does it have to involve the almighty penis?) - do his actions only matter from his perspective??

I’ve been sexually assaulted by a GAY hospital consultant who got away with it precisely because he is gay. I noticed no-ones ever countenanced that he might be a disgusting misogynistic cunt.

I’m taking legal action against him and the Trust for covering for him. Guess how much support I’ve gotten so far for trying to take him on...?

The latest thing is not to offend anyone with an “alternative” sexual orientation, sexual lifestyle etc. At the cost for women. Always for women,

Blue4YOU · 08/05/2021 13:15

Pranking 🙄

HepLaurenceLB · 08/05/2021 13:27

@Lasttraintolondon

He apologised for 2008 for exposing himself on radio.
He continued to flash young cast members on arrow in 2014. The apology meant nothing, he is a serial sex offender

“But the biggest shock was that our very own John Barrowman is up to his old tricks.

In the show the naughty star convincingly leaves his jazz hands and camp humour on one side when he plays evil boo hiss baddie Malcolm Merlyn.

But it seems that on set he still can't stop flashing the unsuspecting cast.”

ItWasLikeThatWhenIGotHere · 08/05/2021 13:30

Yes Blue4You, that’s exactly the point. His behaviour was definitely not OK, he shouldn’t have done it and his employers should have acted to prevent him from doing it in the workplace.

Whether it constituted sexual assault is a question of intent and the effect on the other party. I’ve sadly had men behave inappropriately to me on many occasions. What might theoretically be described as the same behaviour from one man might elicit an eye roll and a “fuck off” from me. From another man it would cause stomach churning fear of what he might do the next time we’re alone, and/or a feeling that I’d been “put in my place” as a sex object rather than a colleague.

If any of JB’s colleagues take this opportunity to speak up and say “I felt violated, I felt his behaviour was motivated by misogyny, I dreaded having to work with him” then I’ll believe them.

flashylamp · 08/05/2021 13:38

Whether it constituted sexual assault is a question of intent and the effect on the other party. I

The effect on the other party has absolutely no relevance here Confused

His actions, and his only, are important.

Sexual assault/ sexual abuse is determined by the action not by the fucking victim Hmm

Don't get me wrong, I'm not intending to criticise Jarvis.
More trying to find an example of PWB I found funny.
I absolutely agree, it wasn't sexual to my eye at all.

Here's some from me, I wish you well with your action Flowers

John has been a valuable commodity for the BBC but AFAIK they have never taken any role in addressing his undoubted psychological problems.

Do you know if he realises that he has problems and that his behaviour is not okay? A lot of people who are so desperate for attention can have other aspects to their personalities that mean they can't see their own failings/problems/issues, call them what you will.

CandyLeBonBon · 08/05/2021 13:51

If a good looking man came up to you in public, got his cock out, laughed and waved it at you, would you think it was a funny prank, or would you consider it indecent exposure and report it to the police? Even if he thought it was 'just a joke' and didn't mean any harm by it.

Or if he did that you your 14 year old daughter. For a laugh?

Would you be ok with that? I bloody wouldn't, snd just because he's a 'luvvie' doesn't mean it suddenly becomes ok.
