John Barrowman put his dick on co-star's shoulder

John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness has (had?) been my all-time favourite Doctor Who character. I knew JB has a history of indecently exposing himself on set multiple times, but today I learned that he not only exposed his dick repeatedly but also non-consensually touched fellow actors with it -- like Camille Coduri (who played Rose Tyler's mum)!

AIBU to think that he got away with this only because he is gay? If he had been straight, wouldn't non-consensually putting his dick on his female co-star's body from behind have landed him loads of trouble already? I was utterly shocked to watch the video -- I don't know how I should be feeling after learning that my favourite Doctor Who actor behaved in this despicable manner. Shock

a petition like that would cause a lot of people to feel hot under the collar and try to fade into the woodwork for a while. We could end up with a new name in the tabloid headlines every day for months :-)
Sounds good.

I'm not disgusted by a bit of bum flashing and those rolls were pretty impressive!

@Meltinthemiddle Would it be impressive if Jodie Whittaker and Eve Myles (or any of the other main female Doctor Who/Torchwood actresses) posted videos of themselves doing exposed bum roles? Or if they repeatedly flashed their nether regions in front of colleagues at work?

Indecent exposure is illegal, full stop.

JB has been removed from the new Doctor Who Time Fracture experience! I hope BBC and ITV also decide to ban him forever.

As I said flashing their regions in the workplace isn't on and I wouldnt be impressed. There is a professional code of conduct that people should follow. This didn't look like it was in the work place but in a hotel with friends and more like someone trying to be funny after a few drinks! We all have friends that get like this after a few drinks and if you are offended then don't socialise with them. But in the work place you don't have that choice.

This is horrendous. I did not know this about him. This isn’t ok. His behaviour is unacceptable.

But anyone staying in the same hotel happened to see it, that would be their tough luck, would it? Hmm

Meltinthemiddle · 12/05/2021 17:27

Not really but I don't watch it and think it's disgusting he needs to be sacked because of it. If I was there then yes I might complain to hotel management. Im pretty sure Dua Lupa had her ass out on stage last night for all to see. Am I offended not really, do I want to see it not really. I couldn't care less.

No we don't. We aren't puerile teenagers Hmm.

everythingthelighttouches · 12/05/2021 17:35

No we don’t.

Meltinthemiddle · 12/05/2021 18:00

Well obviously you don't because you've chosen not to socialise with people that behave like that which is fine! However if you work with someone like that who behaves like that in the work place then that isn't fine. But I'm sure you may have friends who do twatty things when they are drunk or second thoughts maybe not on here 😬

RampantIvy · 12/05/2021 18:09

No. Both DH and I are are in our 60s. If a grown man in his 60s can't keep it in his trousers he would probably be locked up.

Meltinthemiddle · 12/05/2021 18:18

I saw more of someone's bum in Tesco today when he was bending over to pick a can of beans!

Not really the point of the discussion though was it, whether you accidentally saw a bit of bum crack whilst in the supermarket. But I'm sure you're aware of that?
Meltinthemiddle · 12/05/2021 20:42

No the point of the discussion should be the way he's conducted himself at work amongst his colleagues by exposing his genitals!

Star555 · 13/05/2021 19:40

JB's removal from Doctor Who: Time Fracture is getting wide coverage now: www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-57086390

But it's rather interesting that the actual Time Fracture website doesn't mention JB by name in their "statement" (buried deep under several layers of clickable tabs in their FAQs), only mentioning "Captain Jack Harkness". Almost as if a fictional character, not the real person portraying him, is the problem. Hmm

What about the producers and directors who allowed this behaviour onset?

StellaLeonte · 13/05/2021 20:28

He’s disgusting. Who the fuck thinks it’s appropriate or funny to do this?

SaintVal · 14/05/2021 13:04

It's vile behaviour and I'm glad times are changing. I am 50 and have worked as a PA/secretary for 34 years. In the 80s this type of vocation was seen as a green light for harassment, in my opinion. I remember having to laugh things off because that's just the way it was but I hated it. Hated being sleazed over like it was a Carry On film or something. It doesn't matter what sexual orientation a man is; getting his penis out and sticking it in people's faces is no better than someone flashing their bits down the common (which, incidentally, has also happened to me).

TheSongOfTheSea · 15/05/2021 14:05

I'm actually repulsed by Barrowman now and I don't want to see his smug, self-satisfied grin on TV any more.

Hope BBC execs take note of threads like this.

TheSongOfTheSea · 15/05/2021 14:08

@Star555

Glad to see that report. He's a creepy man and he needs to know that his behaviour is not acceptable. However hilarious Lorraine Kelly seems to find him (honestly, half of his interviews online seem to be with Lorraine, and her shrieking with laughter in her vacuous way at him).

For no particular reason, I wish that they'd cancel her too.

TheSongOfTheSea · 15/05/2021 14:09

Nobody is socialising with him, they're at work.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 15/05/2021 14:22

@MissTrip82

I can’t be the only person working in health/emergency services/defence laughing at the PPs who think long hours, high stress, travel, being away from your family, and having nobody who understands what you’re going through but your team are issues unique to show business.

I mean really. Nobody can be that self-absorbed.

These things occur across a swathe of industries. They do not excuse sexual harassment and assault.

This. When I first qualified as a doctor, I regularly worked over 100 hours a week, and was the only doctor in the whole A&E dept at night, taking life or death decisions. Yet I managed it all without exposing my genitals.
Star555 · 15/05/2021 16:28

New audio story featuring JB has now been scrapped:

Hope BBC execs take note of threads like this.
Exactly. If anyone here works for BBC, please help spread the word if you can. The more things JB is removed from, the stronger the message will be that such abuse of male power and non-consensual sexual touching/displaying of genitals is not to be tolerated in society.
