Easter eggs - none left

I've gone to M & S and Sainsbury's this afternoon, and there are no Easter eggs left . Literally none at all. Why??

OP posts:
ConnieCaterpillar70 · 02/04/2021 20:00

I've been manic at work all week, and Ocado didn't have any so I thought I'd pop out today and get some.

There was barely even a bar of chocolate left, let alone a box of them or a bloody egg. Slightly panicking now about what to do for the grandkids..............

Tealightsandd · 02/04/2021 20:04

I bought early this year. The problem with that is they get eaten early too... I had real trouble hunting more down yesterday. Even hugely marked up eggs on Amazon were selling out.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 02/04/2021 20:04

Waitrose has some left. I think the smaller shops might still have some.

Tomasinabombadil · 02/04/2021 20:06

Oh no!
I’ve got a Tesco click & collect order for tomorrow evening and have put a couple of Easter eggs on it, I don’t often eat chocolate, just thought I’d treat myself as I’m on my own.☹️
Since first lockdown I have been doing an order every 2 weeks which would have been last w/e., but changed to 3 weeks this time.🙄
I’ll put a note asking the picker to make a substitution with a bar of fruit & nut chocolate.😂

Chicchicchicchiclana · 02/04/2021 20:08

Husband got some on the M&S at a services on the M4 today. Good lad.

UR88 · 02/04/2021 20:13

This happens every year! I always buy mine 2 weeks in advance.

dividedwefall · 02/04/2021 20:27

Sainsbury's had tons of them today. Even heard the staff saying "I think we're the only shop with any left"

MammaSchwifty · 02/04/2021 20:27

our Co-Op had masses of KitKat Chunky eggs this morning but nothing else. I wonder why.

because they're shite.

dividedwefall · 02/04/2021 20:27

Tesco had lots of Kitkat eggs and literally nothing else.

CherryPieface · 02/04/2021 20:29

Our Tesco only has Wine Gum eggs left today - yuck!

MammaSchwifty · 02/04/2021 20:29

The sort of people who buy up all the easter eggs weeks before are the same type that book out holidays months in advance... they ruin all the spontaneity of life

@ErinAoife

l bought my Easter chocolates weeks in advance, plenty for the Easter egg hunt on Sunday, yesterday I bought Jelly beans to add to the Easter chocolate. I have hidden 2 full shopping bags but to my horror when I went to put the jelly in it, 90 % have disappeared, I am only left with 3 medium Easter eggs and half a bag of small eggs. Turn out my middle child aged 14 has eaten them, he did not care about the Easter hunt, did not care that his little sister (6 years) will be disappointed.
Ahh, reminds me of my lot when they were young! When people brought eggs I would put them on the piano ready for Easter Sunday. That particular Easter Day was very disappointing all round! One or some of my children had eaten the backs and contents of the eggs, just leaving the shiny fronts intact. We were all totally unaware until the mass tuck in😂 It never happened again thank goodness!
Alwaysandforeverhere · 02/04/2021 20:30

But w shave the eggs and the holidays Grin

Alwaysandforeverhere · 02/04/2021 20:31

But we have the eggs and the holidays Grin

kowari · 02/04/2021 20:35

@YippieKayakOtherBuckets

All my local tesco had left last week was masses of kitkat eggs.

How funny - our Co-Op had masses of KitKat Chunky eggs this morning but nothing else. I wonder why.

KitKat is Nestle. Wouldn't buy them if they were the last left.
RedcurrantPuff · 02/04/2021 20:41

Well from having pallets of them on Tuesday when I bought mine our Morrisons was ransacked today! Aldi had a few Kit Kat ones left. Glad I got ours a few days ago.

Ddot · 02/04/2021 20:47

Got my ma fish n chips and three cadburys toffee eggs. She informed me that I should have got 12 eggs. Never ever get anything right.

MrsMaizel · 02/04/2021 20:49

I was hoping to get reduced ones 😂😂😂😂

What a selfish boy. Me and my siblings would often eat chocolate and then rearrange the foil so it looked like we hadn't, but only our own and we would always be in on it together, we would never eat anyone elses' in the family, or go it alone. I hope he feels ashamed of himself.
DemobHappy · 02/04/2021 20:59

Went to my local Sainsbury’s at about 5pm and there were dozens of KitKat and Crunchie ones, but nothing else left.

dividedwefall · 02/04/2021 20:59

Those were the days! Lucky to get a pound off 6 weeks after Easter now. And that's if they have any left.
ElderMillennial · 02/04/2021 21:03

@ChalkingsIsAGatewayCrime

I think you mean "non left".
No OP had it right when she said there were "none" at all left
ArcheryAnnie · 02/04/2021 21:04

Try deliveroo - bizarrely enough, the little shops inside garages will deliver within half an hour, and some of them are M&S and Co-Op! (I have used this to deliver things like strawberries and cream, and ice-cream and wine, as birthday present to friends elsewhere in the country in lockdown!) A quick look at a couple just now tells me many have eggs left.

Starlightstarbright1 · 02/04/2021 21:07

There were loads in Morrisons and B&m . Aldi had virtually nothing. I picked up mine a couple of weeks ago.

Can you separate out the eggs from the accompanying chocolates in the boxes and hide separately to make more for the six year old to find? Then a suitable consequence for the selfish teen.
