I've gone to M & S and Sainsbury's this afternoon, and there are no Easter eggs left . Literally none at all. Why??

OP posts:
EKGEMS · 02/04/2021 16:47

I got the last Easter basket on the shelf at Aldi Wednesday was very lucky

blobby10 · 02/04/2021 17:00

I suspect that, after last year when stores had loads left over because people thought you could catch Covid from them and therefore didn’t buy them- that they didn’t order as many this year and have simply sold out 🤷‍♀️

Notavegan · 02/04/2021 17:01

Judging by my trip to Tesco it's because some families buy a trolley full

TomHardyAndMe · 02/04/2021 17:12

Because people now buy tons of them and fill them with sickly cheesecake before flogging them illegally (not registered food businesses) for weeks before Xmas?

Diabetes epidemic incoming.

Hopeisnotastrategy · 02/04/2021 17:16

Buy chocolate oranges and tell them they were laid by the Ooh-Aah bird.

Nishky · 02/04/2021 17:17

Oh dear. Haven’t bought ours yet 🤣

Flowers24 · 02/04/2021 17:19

Sorry no sympathy for anyone as you have had ages....

KurtWilde · 02/04/2021 17:20

Our tesco and Lidl had loads, as did wilkos. Not much help to OP but I missed out on them last year and has to give the kids bags of snack size Mars bars. I'm better prepared this year!

What’s this? Why catching COVID from an Easter Egg more than anything else?!
Davros · 02/04/2021 17:24

M&S I visited today had loads

Commonwasher · 02/04/2021 17:27

Gah! Me too.

What a lovely snooty comment
Toomuchtrouble4me · 02/04/2021 17:28

Because people have bought them all😀

OverTheRainbow88 · 02/04/2021 17:31

I finally found two, got them home and realised they are white choc bunnies NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOIOOOOOOO

RedGoldAndGreene · 02/04/2021 17:32

This time last year there was a lot of shaming if your trolley included an Easter egg. By shaming I mean on here and places like the Daily Mail where there was a lot of debates about non-essential purchases.

Alsohuman · 02/04/2021 17:33

@islockdownoveryet

It’s always like this it’s nothing new . I went earlier in the week and could see running low then .
Why do people keep saying these ridiculous things? Clearly it isn’t always like this or we wouldn’t all have got caught out.
RedGoldAndGreene · 02/04/2021 17:33

Ju at back from Morrison's and the Easter Eggs had been replaced by barbecue stuff

Can anyone who works in a supermarket confirm if anyone buys the Easter eggs that are displayed after Christmas? I saw people with Easter eggs all through March but I can't imagine buying them before Pancake Day
nannygoat50 · 02/04/2021 17:36

Because people have planned in advance and already bought them 😛

vixeyann · 02/04/2021 17:36

To be fair I usually buy as last minute as possible. If I buy them before, I will almost certainly end up having to repurchase on account of me eating them all.

GinWithLime · 02/04/2021 17:37

There were people kicking off today because the supermarket had sold out. It's insane that people expect them to have Easter eggs on Good Friday! It's like going to Tesco on Christmas Eve wanting a turkey Grin

I've seen a lot of bakers offer cheesecake eggs so they're buying 50 eggs at a time to fulfil orders.

In all honesty, eggs have been on sale for a few months so you've had lots of them to prepare...

fishonabicycle · 02/04/2021 17:40

There were lots everywhere today (Tunbridge Wells).

Mmpip · 02/04/2021 17:47

Tesco express today - Loads....

Motheroftwofeline · 02/04/2021 17:48

Cheesecake eggs??? Sounds disgusting (and I like both chocolate and cheesecake)

TomHardyAndMe · 02/04/2021 17:52

Cheesecake eggs 🤮

Easter eggs - none left
