Disgusting things discovered on MN

Pricklypear12 · 24/03/2021 14:34

During my time on MN I have read about some disgusting/unhygienic things that people do on a regular basis.

Examples are:
Letting dogs lick human plates
Washing dog bowls in dishwasher with regular dishes
Sharing bath water (seen this one today!)
Sucking snot out of a baby's nose (I somewhat get it but really think I could never)

What are some vile things you've read about on MN that are seemingly normal to those that post about them?

Let me guess you also don’t pee in the shower, change your bedding every 4 seconds and change the sponge twice whilst washing up.

sst1234 · 24/03/2021 14:37

I’ve seen the first three on MN and was honestly surprised that people live like this. Dry wiping is another unhygienic one.
But I’m sure people will be along to tell you in a minute that that’s just normal hygiene standards and anyone who doesn’t do this stuff is weird.

Oh i love a good 'how long before you wash your bra?' thread!

Do you not have a toilet in your house?
Happytentoes · 24/03/2021 14:38

@FTEngineerM 😂😂😂

StCharlotte · 24/03/2021 14:39

Uh dry wiping?

(whatever it is, I bet I do it ha ha!)

SilverBirchWithout · 24/03/2021 14:39

What’s dry wiping?

Anoisagusaris · 24/03/2021 14:39

What’s dry wiping?? Confused

vodkaredbullgirl · 24/03/2021 14:39

Nothing worse than wanting a pee when in the shower lol.

Foobydoo · 24/03/2021 14:40

I thought letting dogs lick plates was vile until we got ddog six months agoBlush
I dont let him do it personally but have caught dd1 doing it and it doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. DD insist it makes washing up easierGrin.
I wouldn't want to eat from a plate someone elses dog had licked though.

vodkaredbullgirl · 24/03/2021 14:41

You wouldn't wet wipe your arse.

The leggings sniff test. There was someone a few weeks ago who said rather than just wear clean leggings everyday, she sniffed them first to see whether they were okay.

I mean, leggings are pretty easy to launder, don't need ironed and don't cost that much. Just sayin' ..

vodkaredbullgirl · 24/03/2021 14:44

I try not to let the dogs lick the plates, always goes into hot soapy water and washed straight away.

XelaM · 24/03/2021 14:46

I agree with the OP that all those things are gross, but sharing bath water one after another really made my stomach turn Confused That’s so gross

Meowchickameowmeow · 24/03/2021 14:46

Sucking snot out of a baby's nose
...and I'm out. That is beyond disgusting.

jellyfishinatent · 24/03/2021 14:46

What is dry wiping?!?!

XelaM · 24/03/2021 14:47

I also read on here that some people actually put their toilet seats/brushes in the dishwasher Confused Ewwww

Pricklypear12 · 24/03/2021 14:48

I get that people love their dogs but I honestly could not eat at someone's house knowing their dog has perhaps had a good lick in the past.

Ugh I do NOT pee in the shower, that's another grim one.

I don't own a dog. I'm intrigued how you think blasting plates with very hot water and chemicals alongside other plates some used by humans, some not matters. Do you understand what unhygenic means? You surely mean you find it distasteful. Living with a dog in the house carries risks, but this example is not unhygenic. Sharing bath water with someone in your household is fairly risk free. You'd probably be horrified by my plans for the afternoon. I'm off to play with my son in the local stream (one mile from its source) imagine, untreated water. How will we live through it. Hmm

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 24/03/2021 14:49

What's dry wiping?

TeckanandMultra · 24/03/2021 14:50

I thought this was going to be more along the lines of dragon butter and munting...

PlasticCupPolitics · 24/03/2021 14:50

Surely you’ve misunderstood sucking snot from a baby’s nose? I’m 99% sure these people aren’t doing it directly with their mouth. You can buy little gadgets from the chemist, you suck on the tube and out comes the snot BUT there is a stopper on the tube so the snot physically cannot go into your mouth...

Wtf is dry wiping?

OhToBeASeahorse · 24/03/2021 14:51

I've done the snot sucking. She poo'd in my womb, I'm not that fussed about a bit of snot.

Janaih · 24/03/2021 14:52

Whats wrong with putting animal food bowls in the dishwasher? It sterilises everything in it.
