Sharing bath water

I remember we all used to use the same bath water one after another (parents too) when I was a kid but the thought of doing that now makes me cringe. Does anyone go in the same bath water after another family member?

Yup always do it.
Germs - in 20 years no sign of any illness but we are in country
But then I do five second rule with dropping things on floor and ignore best before dates and just smell

With what adults do together, the bath is imho the least germy transaction😂😂😂

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/03/2021 23:23

I love baths but see them as a leisure activity, not for cleaning myself. We shower daily, sometimes together.

Bath towels we aren’t fussy on - two bath sheets, two people, washed twice a week.

Sparklingbrook · 24/03/2021 06:21

It has nothing to do with germs or getting ill IMO. It’s just nicer to have your own bath water that nobody else has used.
Nobody is growing to get sick from bathing in someone else’s old water. 🤷‍♀️

Sparklingbrook · 24/03/2021 06:22

*going

Meowchickameowmeow · 24/03/2021 06:38

We only shower here, I can't remember the last time I had a bath, must be well over ten years.

Beautiful3 · 24/03/2021 06:48

When I have a bath, my eldest gets in afterwards then my youngest. The rule is to not wee in the bath! We don't have a shower, sharing a bath every other night is the quickest way of cleaning ourselves.

jessstan2 · 24/03/2021 07:29

Why not buy one of those showers that fit over taps, it would make life a lot easier. Just make sure nobody is running water, flushing lavatory etc when somebody is showering, it makes the water flow cold and then boiling hot. My parents and my in laws had one of those for years. They have several types in Argos and other places, quite cheap too. Some have a mixer function - I remember my mother in law's having a plunger that you pushed down to run the bath and pushed up just for the shower. It's also very cheap to have a shower compared to bath. Your daughters won't want to be bath sharing when they are older.

Poorlykitten · 24/03/2021 07:43

Yes, used to all the time when we had an emersion and cost the earth to run separate baths. Sometimes DH gets in after me and the kids will share. Has never been a issue but not a clean freak.

Poorlykitten · 24/03/2021 07:43

Really wondering about the ‘dry -wiping’ comment???😂

BabyBee93 · 24/03/2021 09:13

Really wondering about the ‘dry -wiping’ comment???😂

Yes I was too! So I Googled it...apparently regular toilet paper is the anus' devil and will give you, among other things, haemorrhoids, infections and injuries. Dry wiping is for animals I tell you!!!

(Kidding. A nice roll of 3ply has served me well so far and will continue to do so until I can't actually wipe anymore Grin)

Flowers24 · 24/03/2021 09:15

Yuk yuk yuk never!

SchrodingersImmigrant · 24/03/2021 09:17

Re dry wiping.

Where my DH is from they have little but showers😁 He finds just toilet paper (dry wiping) unsatisfactorily hygienically.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 24/03/2021 09:18

Butt shower nout but shower

Flowers24 · 24/03/2021 09:19

Can I add baths in general are not really for cleaning yourself are they, you are sat in your own poo and skin......I have a shower daily and a bath to relax in , imagine all that 'stuff' in the bath if multiple people use the same water, absolutely vile

PopsicleHustler · 24/03/2021 09:20

I will bath my 7yr old dd with her 3 yr old sister but that's it. Sometimes I might have my dd get in after me depending on how long I have been in it. As I have a newborn also and i only get a 5 minute bath these days so seems such a waste to drain it all.

screamingfromtherooftops · 24/03/2021 09:26

Are people taking the piss? Is this genuinely a thing?🤮😵

Fembot123 · 24/03/2021 09:40

I love the hysteria, so funny 😆

leafygarden42 · 24/03/2021 09:52

Yep - bath water always goes to 2 people - never more. What a waste otherwise.

Family of 5 here. We also have a shower - so it depends on what people want as well.

Can't be shocked and 'ewwww' about it. I mean, really?

leafygarden42 · 24/03/2021 09:54

@Fembot123

What you said!! Grin

Flowers24 · 24/03/2021 09:56

Its unbelievable this is a thing, so dirty???

Lacucuracha · 24/03/2021 10:00

@ZackaryQuack

Not quite the same but weekend mornings we put the plug in and ds sits in the bath while dh and I have our showers then stays in the tub for a while longer.

Dh and I have been known to get in the bath together, but never one after the other, I like to lounge until the water is cold.

He sits in the run off water from your shower? That’s both sweet and a bit gross Grin
Tossblanket · 24/03/2021 10:01

I'll jump in after my 16 month old has been in.

Providing he's not taken a shit in it 😂

woodhill · 24/03/2021 10:02

Yes some nights I get in after DH. He likes it hotter than I do. Why not?

I shower in the morning anyway

MaryIsA · 24/03/2021 10:03

Yep, I like the water superheated - and I also like to shower before getting in the bath (japanese style) so DH quite happily jumps in after me.
