To be disappointed that my favourite radio presenter does not look how he sounds

I have recently found a radio presenter that i love listening to. His voice is like catnip to me and he makes me giggle while i am doing my daily work. I listen to all his shows now. I decided today, to follow him on Twitter and saw his picture.

He is not what i imagined him to be. Based on his voice i had an image in my mind of what he looked like. I am slightly and mildly disappointed. AIBU to be so bothered by this?

I had this when I was in my early teens - Steve Wright looked nothing like I expected him too.

I had a similar thing happen where I looked him up and he was a good 20 years younger than I thought he’d be. It’s really weird!

My favourite radio presenter sounds like he's about 65 and I was shook when I saw a photo of him. He's 42!

I used to speak on the phone a lot to a male colleague in one of our other offices. His voice made him sound tall, dark, handsome and sexy .... I was stunned when I met him and he looked like Les Dawson

I must be older than you as i used to see Steve Wright on TOTP and he had his own BBC 1 show back in the day. I always knew what he looked like!

I suspect that few of us look as we sound and many radio presenters have 'a face for radio' as they say.

I won't say who it is,but, it feels the same hurt, like when i first saw Clive Bull's image, having listened to him since the 90's!

They shouldn't show us what the presenters look like, we should just be left with our imaginations!
