To be disappointed that my favourite radio presenter does not look how he sounds

I have recently found a radio presenter that i love listening to. His voice is like catnip to me and he makes me giggle while i am doing my daily work. I listen to all his shows now. I decided today, to follow him on Twitter and saw his picture.

He is not what i imagined him to be. Based on his voice i had an image in my mind of what he looked like. I am slightly and mildly disappointed. AIBU to be so bothered by this?

Not Ken Bruce ( he is R2 ) and certainly not Nick Ferrari. I put Chris Evans on when Nick Ferrari starts! Cannot stand Ferrari and also he sounds exactly like he looks! Bleurgh!!

I think Greg James is quite attractive, especially as hes such a lovely person I think it shines through

My money is on Eddie Mair, purely because I don't know any other LBC presenters

I'm a long time LBC listener. I was so disappointed to see all their faces after having listened to them for so long. I should have never looked on the website!!

I had the same experience with Eddie Mair. I miss him on R4.

Not really the point of the thread but Tom Ravenscroft is the opposite - he's way hotter than he sounds ( I guess because he sounds like his dad, John peel).

Me too @Velvian. I tuned into his new show on Friday. Only took me 2.5 years to find LBC on my radio...

I always get a shock when I see a picture of Eddie Mair that he doesn't actually look like Andrew Neil which is how I always imagine him.

I followed Eddie to LBC I love his voice and his very dry way of expressing that he thinks something is ridiculous.

Eddie Mair flies so close to the wind sometimes, I love him.

That happened to me when I saw the guy from the Backlisted podcast.

He looks nothing like the sexy fella in my head. Took me a couple of weeks to get over it

@Take has phrased it really well and put into words what i mean. It is not Eddie Mair but Ian Payne i was referring to. He does not look like i imagined , I imagined slightly younger, but equally, now i know what he looks like and combined with his voice and his presenting style , he is by far , still my favourite radio crush !

Oh no I know what you mean, I actually felt the same. Had a major crush listening to him and after seeing him took me by surprise as it wasnt what I was expecting!

Well if you switch channels when Nick Ferrari starts; you are listening before, so I'm going to guess it's Steve Allen.

Oh god just can’t stand Steve Allen! Endless stream of camp consciousness. If I get in my car before 7 I have to listen to s podcast to avoid him. Same after 10 with the chippy James ?? Listen to Eddie Mair on the way home - love those mellifluous tones and dry humour.

God no! Steve Allen is awful. If i wake at 4am i will put a podcast on or catch up on another show.

Well I listen to a podcast that I really love and for a very long time I thought it was one woman around 35 - 40 years and one woman around 60ish....
