I need some inspiration as I eat the same boring sandwiches every day and always fill up on crisps, biscuits and chocolate alongside it which is making me pile on the pounds. Any ideas welcomed Smile

now I'm wfh I usually have leftovers from the night before …. today will be lasagne, with a bit of salad. Funnily enough I seem to put on weight more easily with sandwiches for lunch than leftovers!

TheParadiseClub92 · 17/03/2021 12:24

I just had a deli kitchen flatbread filled with Aldi spinach & pine nut falafel, houmous and salad. Also had 3 chocs from my Mother’s Day stash. I don’t usually have that much and often have leftovers from dinner.

DataColour · 17/03/2021 12:25

I'm having a tin of sardines in oil drained, on a pile of broccoli, mashed swede and carrots (veg left over from last nights dinner).
It's usually left overs or soup.

BashfulClam · 17/03/2021 12:25

Omelette or dinner leftovers or home made soup.

Everyday21 · 17/03/2021 12:28

Homemade soup, I usually make a big pan that does dh and I for 3 days. I'll then make another or have other leftovers on the other days

Mellonsprite · 17/03/2021 12:29

Cold pasta salad
Beans on toast
Jacket spud & coleslaw
Ham sandwich & crisps
Cous cous with a bit of salad

dementedpixie · 17/03/2021 12:30

Greggs frozen savoury- cooked at home
Steak beak for dd
Sausage and bean bake for me

LagneyandCasey · 17/03/2021 12:30

I'm wfh all the time now so like pp I try and have some sort of leftovers. Today I had macaroni cheese with ham & tomato. I like chunky veg soups so I make sure I've always got some in the fridge or cupboard and I'll have that with toast. Flatbreads spread with pasta sauce/tomato puree and cheese then folded and grilled are lovely.

HUCKMUCK · 17/03/2021 12:30

I can’t get this right. I have really good intentions to have soup and salads but when lunchtime comes I just want a sarnie!!

I might try @BigSandyBalls2015 leftovers idea.

Last week I had something on toast every day. Sardines, hummus and grapes, Avocado.

Be interested to see other ideas.

Dorisdaydream2 · 17/03/2021 12:31

Always sandwiches, I love bread!! Need to lose weight though, this could be why Grin

VictoriaLudorum · 17/03/2021 12:31

Lunch is my main meal.
Today it was mushrooms a la bourgignonne, wilted spinach and potato gratin (all home-made from fresh).

TidyDancer · 17/03/2021 12:32

I've got stir fry. I buy the frozen bags of it for about £2 and that's four servings. Usually have it with some kind of protein. Filling and reasonably healthy most of the time!

troppibambini6 · 17/03/2021 12:32

Three pieces of streaky bacon
Spinach with smoked salt and balsamic vinegar
Asparagus
A poached egg
Greek yogurt with raspberries and a few flaked almonds

Most days are something similar. I've recently given up sugar so I'm dodging carbs a bit too.

CloseEncountersOfTheTurdKind · 17/03/2021 12:34

Today we have home made houmus, toasted pitta bread and vegetable sticks. Yesterday we had nachos with salsa, cheese, avocado and sour cream.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 17/03/2021 12:35

@VictoriaLudorum

Lunch is my main meal too. Yours sounds lovely!

I often make a soup or stew or some kind of other easy one pot dish like risotto or quinoa with all kinds thrown in. Or something with boiled rice on the side.

Kerzehmet · 17/03/2021 12:36

Mushrooms on toasted sesame bagel and a couple of slices of bacon. Usually leftovers or something on toast. Not really a sandwichy person.

LucilleTheVampireBat · 17/03/2021 12:36

Today i'm having a pot noodle. With home-made water.

afaloren · 17/03/2021 12:36

I have an omelette most days, filled with spinach or chicken or cheese. Then some fruit. Or I might have a salad with tuna etc, or maybe egg on toast.

Tryingtogetitright · 17/03/2021 12:38

2 ryvita with 1/2 avocado mashed on top, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, yellow pepper and a mini babybel. I'm dieting! Actually really enjoy my salady lunches more than the sandwiches I used to eat.

ostrom · 17/03/2021 12:39

Now I'm working from home I tend to make something more interesting for lunch or use leftovers from the night before. Today it's cajun salmon with frozen broccoli and peas and a small portion of mixed grains (rice, pearly and spelt barley) witha tabelspoon of sweet chilli dressing.

Other days - small jacket potato (micro) with beans or tuna. Egg mayo on sourdough. Two taste the difference cod fish fingers with a lovely fresh salad (no dressing). Portion size varies depending on whether I am going for a bike ride in the afternoon or not.

Snacks throughout the day - banana, small apple with a few almonds, or dried apricots with a few almonds. If I really fancy a biscuit in my tea two good old fashioned digestives.

ShouldHaveCouldHaveWouldHave · 17/03/2021 12:41

I’ve just had an Activia yogurt with flaked almonds.
I don’t get long for lunch as I have get home to walk my dogs and then get back to work all in about 45 minutes so has to be something really quick.

maddening · 17/03/2021 12:41

Soup, the fresh soups from sainsburys, I have a 3-400 calorie portion and it fills me right up, I do not snack at all, so protein weetabix with oatmilk for breakfast and soup (no bread) for lunch. I have my dinner around 5-6pm (soup 150 cals and bread) and that sorts me for the day.

WhatHaveIFound · 17/03/2021 12:42

Yesterday it was fried potatoes & rollmop herring. Today I had bread & cheese.

Normally we tend to eat either leftovers from the night before, sandwiches or soup/bread.

Bouncebacker · 17/03/2021 12:42

I avoid sugar and carbs mostly, so lunch’s are usually a vat of homemade soup (today is creamy spinach and cauliflower), scrambled eggs with watercress/ rocket, an omelette, a Chaffle (waffle made with eggs and cheese and then filled like a sandwich) or a salad

PurpleDaisies · 17/03/2021 12:44

Leftovers, daal or soup pretty much every day. I freeze things in portions for ease.
