To ask what you eat for lunch

I need some inspiration as I eat the same boring sandwiches every day and always fill up on crisps, biscuits and chocolate alongside it which is making me pile on the pounds. Any ideas welcomed Smile

@happymummy12345

I don't have breakfast or lunch. I just have dinner in the evening. I don't see how people can eat 3 meals or times a day
OMG neither do I!!!!

The salad at lunch is all I eat 💪

cakebythepound1234 · 17/03/2021 14:28

Oooh I forgot - love a fish finger sandwich too for an easy lunch!

Flippyferloppy · 17/03/2021 14:31

Since lockdown, we've been having our main meal at lunchtime and a lighter meal in the evening. Lots of stews. Today's luch was Osso Bucco. In the evening we're tending to have salad or chunky soups.
We've managed to avoid putting any weight on. I'm not sure if this is the reason why though.

greeneyedlulu · 17/03/2021 14:32

Salad with left over chicken, homemade soups, ploughman's is our usual.

whatisforteamum · 17/03/2021 14:36

Lentil soup today.cheese and biscuits or toast normally.dh had leftover pasta bake with peppers.

Samanabanana · 17/03/2021 14:38

Today avocado and scrambled egg on toast and a mini pork pie with red onion chutney

StupidBlanket · 17/03/2021 14:45

I also only eat one meal a day, at dinner. It works for some and isn't completely out there.

The nasty comments are unwarranted and quite frankly, hilarious.

Presumably you can understand how people eat three meals a day though?
StupidBlanket · 17/03/2021 14:50

@PurpleDaisies Sure, I can understand that. However it's worth noting that some people just don't feel great eating throughout the day. Hell, even as a kid I often did what I do now. I'm no worse for it.

Xiaoxiong · 17/03/2021 14:55

Today, a small bowl of gazpacho out of a carton, alongside toasted cheese and sliced tomatoes on toast with grain mustard. And a couple of cornichons on the side.

Yesterday - a mushroom, pepper and cheese omelette.

Monday - leftover Moroccan fish tagine from dinner the night before.

ConkerBonkers · 17/03/2021 14:56

Usually toast with peanut buttet

Marmite27 · 17/03/2021 14:57

Chicken, rice, salad. Sometimes the chicken is in a curry sauce with other veggies, most times it’s just a flavoured one.

Jambalaya, bagel with ham and cream cheese or ham, egg and cheese, beans on toast, scrambled eggs or ravioli. Occasionally even a sandwich and a bag of snacks jacks.

Inextremis · 17/03/2021 14:59

Recently, it's been a big bowl of dal for brunch. I cooked a load of lentils in the slow cooker over the weekend (with fresh chilli, garlic and ginger paste, asafoetida, tomatoes and turmeric). All I do for brunch is fry some onion, garlic and dried chillies in ghee, then add a ladleful of the lentils, salt to taste, and reduce it down a bit. Very quick to prepare, and very satisfying. Not at all worthy 'cos of the copious amount of ghee I use :)

Serin · 17/03/2021 15:06

Today I surpassed myself and had a bachelors pasta n sauce, macaroni cheese sachet thing. Totally crap but unbelievably good.
Usually its salad, egg on toast, or a quick stir fry, sometimes just a couple of biscuits.

shinynewapple21 · 17/03/2021 15:08

@TheParadiseClub92 @VictoriaLudorum

Your lunches sound delicious!

@happymummy12345 I wish I did just eat 3 times a day! I have an afternoon and evening snack as well as 3 meals .

Some great inspiration on here . When I was in my office I would have a mixture of different lunches , sometimes sandwich , sometimes salad , a wrap , soup or a ready meal .

Since I've been WFH I've had a can of soup and toast . Every day, except Sometimes just toast . I eat far too much toast !

sanfranfibber · 17/03/2021 15:14

Today I had a bagged salad with a tray of roasted veg, some ham and mozarella. Delicious, filling, and

shinynewapple21 · 17/03/2021 15:19

Actually now I think of it I had a couple of days where I had a cooked salmon fillet , cottage cheese and salad.
Back on the soup and toast again now though.

sunflowersandbuttercups · 17/03/2021 15:21

Soup, a couple of slices and bread and some veggies/hummus.
Ravioli.
A sandwich with salad/cheese/ham and veggies on the side.
Leftovers from the night before.
Pasta/pasta salad.
Jacket potato with various topping.

joystir59 · 17/03/2021 15:23

Just had scrambled egg on toast.

HoldontoOneMoreDay · 17/03/2021 15:27

Me and DH both work from home now so lunch is a bit more of a 'thing'.

Quite often buy those bags of ready-made frozen dumplings from the Asian supermarket, they cook from frozen in 10 minutes (fry, steam, fry in a pan) then knock up a dipping sauce from soy, chilli oil and vinegar.

The same supermarket also sells homemade parathas - heat one in a non-stick pan, fry an egg in another, spread the paratha with mango chutney, stick the egg in, top it with some Korean chilli paste and thank me later.

We replaced the toastie machine with a panini press recently and that's good too - always have wraps in the freezer so do that tiktok four quarter quesadilla thing with whatever's in the fridge.

And left overs

I keep contemplating low carbing but it's lunch that's putting me off it...

Hesma · 17/03/2021 15:27

Home made soup
Homemade quorn chilli
Crackers with philly and cucumber
Leftovers
Salads with grapes in

Frozen parathas, not homemade!
WaitingForNormality · 17/03/2021 15:32

Typically some soup (I buy a few tubs of the nice fresh soups each week - the Yorkshire branded ones are lovely) and 2 slices of wholemeal buttered toast. Altogether its rather low calorie. I then have a banana/some grapes for something sweet afterwards.

I like to save more calories for a filling dinner!

changi · 17/03/2021 15:34

A bowl of soup and slice of toast.

Both home made. Obviously.

Oh god, you again Grin

It's perfectly normal to eat 3 meals a day. It's also perfectly normal to eat 5 or 6 smaller ones, and actually recommended by many.
No one would ever recommend to do what you do, so please stop trying to make people feel bad about their very normal eating habits. You're like a magazine from the 90s trying to convince us all we are nothing but fat cows and we should all start having a nice little eating disorder.
