I need some inspiration as I eat the same boring sandwiches every day and always fill up on crisps, biscuits and chocolate alongside it which is making me pile on the pounds. Any ideas welcomed Smile

In summer I might have salad topped with hard boiled egg or sliced avocado or tuna to make it more filling.

Or crudités with pate or hummus.

ThursdayLastWeek · 17/03/2021 17:42

Not looking like you have an eating disorder doesn’t mean that only eating one meal a day isn’t disordered eating.

Pepperminttea16 · 17/03/2021 17:55

Sometimes I make soup in my soup maker

A lot of times I can’t really be bothered and just have cereal or a slice of toast

CateTown · 17/03/2021 19:44

You're welcome

There was a whole thread about what a PA twit this makes you look.

moita · 17/03/2021 19:46

I find high protein and low carbs works for me so usually meat or fish with cheese and salad. Or a big bowl of soup (made spinach soup today).

EileenGC · 17/03/2021 19:47

Am I the only one who had 2 3 choc chip cookies for lunch, then? They were from M&S and had hazelnuts in them if that redeems me at all ...

Oh you’re not alone! I can easily eat a whole box (of 12 cookies) in a day. I’m also a pretty healthy weight even though the air and crumb inhalers wouldn’t believe me 😂

What I wonder is, do these people who claim they only eat one small meal a day, DO anything? Don’t get me wrong, I have no issue skipping a meal sometimes when there’s no time/food in the fridge/I’m on a diet or fasting, but honestly, day after day, they keep going on one meal? I’m assuming they don’t do much?

I’m out of the house 11-12h 6 days a week, normally move between 3 sites all across the city, always running to catch a train or fit a shopping trip in, on top of a very physically and mentally demanding job. Then there’s chores/work prep/admin to do when I’m at home. This is what life looks like for a majority of people. Add some children, caring duties... There is absolutely no way in heaven I could do it all properly on one meal. These people’s days must be quite relaxed and not very energy-consuming.

PumpkinPie2016 · 17/03/2021 19:49

I used to do soup/leftovers quite a lot but can't currently due to covid restrictions at work meaning I can't access a microwave.

I have mainly been resorting to sandwiches- must try to vary it next week with salads. Bread isn't great for me as it bloats me.

queenofthenorthwest · 17/03/2021 19:51

I'm doing keto so I have a lo dough wrap with avocado and some sort of meat and cheese.

BlackBucketOfCheese · 17/03/2021 19:57

Today I had:
Hummus in a small wholemeal pitta with salad of pea shoots, spring onions, spinach, grated beetroot and grated carrot with garlic and chilli olives and some cucumber and celery sticks for dipping in an extra bit of hummus.
Plus an apple and a single finger Twix.

Often whilst at home I’ll have gnocchi with some left over chicken.

If I’m on days at work I take a soup and a sandwich.

HavelockVetinari · 17/03/2021 19:58

Soup, salad or omelette

SandrasAnnoyingFriend · 17/03/2021 19:59

I try to only eat two meals a day so lunch is more brunch-like
Usually involving eggs, bacon, tomatoes, avocados and smoked salmon in some combination

BlackBucketOfCheese · 17/03/2021 20:00

Oh yes and I will often have leftovers or pate and toast (if at home).

My favourite lunch is a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel. But I like to stuff it full of sauerkraut and gherkins too.

Graphista · 17/03/2021 20:19

@VictoriaLudorum thanks I've screenshot that, I love mushrooms I'm having mushroom stroganoff tonight (yes it's late I got tied up with doing a sort out in my bedroom cos I couldn't find something! Ironically I've recently given it a good sort out but that's probably WHY I couldn't find the blasted thing!)

SophieB100 · 17/03/2021 20:26

Today I had a tin of Sainsbury's potato and leak soup with a round of homemade wholemeal bread.
Yesterday, overnight oats with yoghurt and berries.
Often I have a few crackers with a little bit of cheese and an apple.
I rarely eat breakfast - so only two meals a day - my lunch is smaller than my dinner.

99victoria · 17/03/2021 20:31

Chilli rice crackers and caramelised onion hummus is my favourite lunch. Other options include multi-seed oat biscuits, home-made soup or occasionally a brie and salad wrap. Usually followed by an apple

Carishina · 17/03/2021 21:04

Amazed by the number of people on here admitting to eating food! In 2021!!

I just absorb nutrients from the air then once a week DH mists me with a plant spray. I suggest you lot do the same.

rainbowfairydust · 17/03/2021 21:15

In my head it's going to be chicken salad or soup, but quite often it ends up being a chicken Mayo sandwich, crisps and an apple or a cheese and pickle sandwich.. Or cheese on toast!
Not much to look forward to atm apart from food I like!

KimchiLaLa · 17/03/2021 21:16

Leftovers or a mash up of stuff from the fridge - rocket, feta, olives, houmous. Or oven food like quorn sausages and a waffle.

maggiethecat · 17/03/2021 21:57

Another here for mash up of leftovers which we always have loads of. So today was lemongrass chicken wings, spicy rice, coleslaw, sweet potato and feta salad, and then banana chocolate cake.

We’ve pretty much run down all the leftovers so tomorrow will have a quick pasta and pesto with a Greek salad.

Lunch defo more interesting than when in the office!

CateTown · 18/03/2021 12:00

I wonder how reflective of wider society these replies are? Someone must be buying Cup-a-Soups!

maggiethecat · 18/03/2021 22:41

food is probably one of the few pleasures these days...Cup-a-Soup doesn't quite cut it

ExitChasedByAnImposter · 19/03/2021 07:04

@maggiethecat Agreed. I have recently started to enjoy eating food as much as I love preparing them. I find it hard to tell the difference between the tongue-in-cheek comments and the competitive undereaters especially with the lack of emojis or emoticons. I used to suffer from disordered eating and had an eating disorder for several years so those kinds of comments always makes me question how much I’ve eaten and I have to fight those invasive thoughts of needing to skip meals because I might have eaten too much for one meal.

maggiethecat · 19/03/2021 11:51

@ExitChasedByAnImposter
Well done for dealing with your eating disorder!

Londonmummy66 · 19/03/2021 11:54

I bought a small 2 serving soup maker just before Christmas. Its great as I can just chop up veg etc when I feel like it and then add the water and turn it on 20 minutes before I want to eat.

A good way of getting to my a day and using up left over veg and the less useable stuff like broccoli stalks.

Inpersuitofhappiness · 19/03/2021 12:11

Usually leftovers from the night before for me.

Nip to Aldi, get a couple of packs of cod, fresh pepper some juice from a lemon, wrapped in tin foil and thrown in the oven, with a salad or tenderstem thrown in the microwave with garlic and a tbsp of butter.

Steak, tomatoes and mushrooms under the grill.

Tinned tuna with cucumber slices.

Nandos style chicken, tenderstem.

Or even in the morning, balti paste on some diced chicken breast, large slices of red onion and slice some peppers, grill it off at lunch time. I avoid rice/pasta/bread until my evening meal. These foods keep me full for a good few hours
