School uniform yucky colours

Please can I ask for your views? At a regular state primary school what are the most horrid colours for school sweatshirts? What are the best? What do you/your children like?

From the normal range of primary school colours - blue, red, navy, yellow, dark green, bright green, purple, light grey.

Thanks - most interested in your LEAST favourite.

All of them.
I dislike uniforms.

speakout · 11/03/2021 19:10

Why do you ask?

derryrose1980 · 11/03/2021 19:10

Yellow is the worse. They usually look like they have been washed in with dark stuff and are a nasty faded colour after a while.

Itsjustaride8w737 · 11/03/2021 19:11

For me grey, green and navy are awful. I prefer bright colours, i love purple but not many schools have that colour uniform.

Ilovemaisie · 11/03/2021 19:12

But seriously - white for shirts is the dumbest thing ever.
White.
For children with pens and paint.
Ha ha ha haaaaaaaa.
No. Don't do it.

Blockedoff · 11/03/2021 19:12

I think it's always best to choose a colour uniform you like and send your children there!

I mean what could go wrong!

Carolina24 · 11/03/2021 19:14

Double whammy of ‘yucky’ and ‘horrid’ in one post... Wink

Are any of the colours bad? Yellow is a bit impractical but they’re all pretty inoffensive.

zigaziga · 11/03/2021 19:14

Yellow is the worst.

Thecatisboss · 11/03/2021 19:14

My secondary school uniform was black and bright yellow (with the option of knee height yellow socks which no one wore! Everyone, even in winter wore ankle socks).

Truly horrible uniform.

Poundaminute · 11/03/2021 19:14

The worst I have seen was a catholic primary school with brown trousers / skirts and yellow tops with brown jumpers 😬
Ks2 wear white shirts with brown and yellow ties.

Cheesypea · 11/03/2021 19:15

Blue, red, green ok.
Dont like yellow or purple or any weird colours.
Grey isnt a colour for young kids.

Didiplanthis · 11/03/2021 19:15

I thought that about white shirts and probably for ks1 is stupid but my dc moved schools and went from a pale ish but coloured polo shirt to a white shirt and I was horrified but actually the shirts wash up soooo much better than the polo shirts did and don't shrink all the bloody time !!

Rollerbird · 11/03/2021 19:16

Blue Red yellow are the best.
Easiest to find in supermarkets

MissDollyMix · 11/03/2021 19:16

I’m not keen on yellow or green. My DC’s uniform is purple which I love. Red or navy usually look smart.

Didiplanthis · 11/03/2021 19:16

Agree yellow is awful.. purple ok but does look a bit odd..not that keen on green..

TeenMinusTests · 11/03/2021 19:17

Yellow not so practical.
Light grey seems boring and impractical too.

Why do you ask?

WhiskyIrnBru · 11/03/2021 19:17

Yellow. One wash and it ends up looking sludgy.

They can call it gold all they want but it is always sunflower yellow!

therocinante · 11/03/2021 19:18

Yellow worst, dark green best.

MuddleMoo · 11/03/2021 19:18

Blue and Green. Hate yellow

Whathappenedtothelego · 11/03/2021 19:18

Are you designing a new school uniform.

Ours is navy and fades and looks washed out quite quickly.
Black and dark green probably the same.

Grey washes well but is a bit depressing.

I prefer purple, red, bright green, bright blue. Or maybe maroon. I'd like matching joggers too, like they have in places like China, rather than grey school skirts or trousers.

Yellow and pale blue are massively impractical, and would end up looking filthy.

therocinante · 11/03/2021 19:19

My high school uniform was brown though, so I have strong feelings about this ha!

AccidentallyOnPurpose · 11/03/2021 19:19

Yellow and brown at DD's. I hate it for so many reasons.

sunflowertulip · 11/03/2021 19:20

Don't like yellow. I like blue and purple. My children's is purple and I really like it!

wasgoingmadinthecountry · 11/03/2021 19:20

Looking at it as a teacher as we are considering our uniform - what do parents think? Just really want to know if there's a colour you'd go, "Ooh, really? Why on earth?" to if your child's school was changing sweatshirt colour. Hard to keep clean? Might fade?

My children are all grown up. I may be out of sync with parents in 2021. No hidden agenda! Thanks.

That's all - no hidden aganda.

I don't mind. Primark Uggs go with everything.
