To feel absolutely devasted.. So much pain!

3 trips to A&E with serve stomach pain possible endometriosis bladder retention (from separate on going issue) swabs taken from GP to send off then maybe consider gynaecologist referral.

To be told deal with it at home won't be doing nothing for me at hospital..
Go and see my GP.

Just spent 6 hours in A&E throwing up.

I cannot cope at home with pain and throwing up taking care of kids.

This is really effecting my mental health and I honestly can't do it anymore.Sad

Please any advice and experience!

Stay in a&e until you get seen. Do not let them fob you off with a prescription for some painkillers and instructions to come back if it gets worse. Don't be rude but do be assertive.

I have no idea what you can do in this situation it sounds dreadful Flowers

You have two issues:

  • the underlying issue
  • the pain

Hopefully you can get help for the pain - can you get an out of hours gp to help with a prescription?

3 trips 2 different hospitals, 5-6 hours wait.
Vomiting pain relief. 2nd visit waited in waiting room the whole time to be told the beds are for more sicker people not me. Sad

I am sitting on a bed in A&E now just seen the gynecologist who told me she won't be doing nothing for me now. I will need to wait for scan and that could take up to 12 weeks because of covid i asked why can't you scan me now because it's the weekend and this is not emergency..

Fuck my life.

I literally want to end it all.

What about a private referral? I don’t know if the cost would be prohibitive but it would then fast track you up the waiting list. Sounds horrendousSad

Oh my sympathy! Can you call your GP and get a prescription of something for the pain to help ease things while you wait for the long term solution?

Could it be an infection? Vomiting is a symptom. Do you have other fever symptoms? (Temp, nausea, lightheadedness, the shakes?). I had a pelvic abscess. Had intermittent fever symptoms (though never a temperature) and it was only when I paid for a private ultrasound that they discovered a tubo-ovarian abscess (related to endo - an endometrioma had got infected).

Can they prescribe an anti emetic as well as pain relief. Ask for ondansetron. If you can stop throwing up then you can keep the pain meds down but you need help to break the cycle?

Can you ask for an injection - can't remember what the drug's called - to stop the vomiting? Then your pain meds can work.

Would it be possible to get a GP appointment asap and get a private scan?

Severe pain that is not associated with a dangerous or rapidly worsening condition is not treated as a medical emergency at a&e.

YANBU to think this is wrong.

you need a gybe referral. I suffered for years. surgery cancelled last year and now told it might be another 2 years. I have no quality of life left and won't be able to cope much longer. you have my sympathy. sorry you are going through this bus no practical advice. women with endo don't count. not in the NHS.

How long a period did the 3 visits take place in? Like was it in 3 days or 4 months where it's happened multiple times?

If you’re in retention are you still passing any urine, or are you catheterised? Feel for you, I have had urine retention dozens of times (have chronic with residual volume of about 700ml) and then episodes of acute) thanks to a knackered bladder; it is a pain unlike any other, absolute agony . I’ve been taught to ISC (8 times a day for life) now but absolutely hate it ...

Fortunately all my blood and obs are fine.
I got sickness shot in arm and oramorph, was told catheter to get sent home for however long I said I can't cope with that.

I said I'm done I can't anymore I got my bags and left, as I left the door the doctor said "oh are you refusing medical treatment, OKAY! BYE!!"

On way home now sobbing in taxi, i have this deep feeling of self harming never felt like such before.

OP I have adhesions, end can cause these, mine are from previous surgery

They can sometimes trap the small bowel causing vomiting, called a small bowel obstruction

However with mine it has been a kind of green bilious vomit and they then do X rays on the tummy to check

Hopefully yours is not that as they sometimes need to operate to free it up. But just to make you aware if that happens again it could be adhesions. Hope all goes OK Flowers maybe check in with the GP asap as they can refer you up the hospital urgently if needed which is better as they will read a GPs letter more than if you just turn up

Also GP could do bloods to check for infection etc

I know what you mean about A&E have experienced it myself
They just deal with life threatening emergencies right away

I hear that you are in terrible pain but don't start throwing around covid theories at doctors as it won't help you. They can't help the fact their hospitals got overwhelmed.

This seems very poor. You are being fobbed off. I agree that you need to be assertive. I would be leaving.

I was a bit confused by your last, OP. They wanted to catheterise you or they wanted you to self- catheterise until you get a scan? And have you been referred for a scan or do you need to go back to your gp?

Northwest - standard and if it shows anything, referral to gym which is another 4-5 months so about 8 months to get seen by a consultant.

So have you left without a catheter? If you can’t pee at all and can’t cath yourself you really do need to let them pop one in . That will definitely help with the pain - retention is agony . I find it gets me in a blind panic as well as utterly desperate to pee, that’s relieved as soon as a catheter in .

It is fairly standard to be discharged home with one if no obvious surgical ermegency and obs stable etc . There’s hundreds of us on FB in the same boat . After 24h or so you do get used to it .
