3 trips to A&E with serve stomach pain possible endometriosis bladder retention (from separate on going issue) swabs taken from GP to send off then maybe consider gynaecologist referral.

To be told deal with it at home won't be doing nothing for me at hospital..
Go and see my GP.

Just spent 6 hours in A&E throwing up.

I cannot cope at home with pain and throwing up taking care of kids.

This is really effecting my mental health and I honestly can't do it anymore.Sad

Please any advice and experience!

It's fairly simple to get a private ultrasound. Many of the private baby bonding ultrasound clinics also offer womens health scans. Try Ultrasound Direct, clinics all over the country, costs about £100. Google 'private ultrasound' and the name of your town/area.

Porcupineintherough · 27/02/2021 07:54

For a private referral you look on line to find a gynecologist that practises privately near you (private hospitals may have lists). Then you either get your gp to refer you or sometimes you can self refer. You'll get an appointment very quickly but you'll have to pay for it (usually £200 -£300). They can refer you on for scans and tests, again either privately, for which you have to pay, or on the NHS.

Getting all your treatment privately is £££ but sometimes it can help jumpstart you into the system and save time. You can go back to the NzHS at any time, often to see the same person but for free.

Our local hospital has a 24 hour Gynae A&E drop in. See if your hospital has the same thing. My DD had some problems and we were seen at 5 in the morning and she was referred for tests.

RubiconGuava · 27/02/2021 08:00

Sorry if my post wasn't clear I am now sitting in the corner..

The doctor wanted to send me home with the catheter, I no its not the smartes idea to just leave with 500ml of urine in me but the doctor could not of cared less.. he was glad to see me go and I could see in his eyes that I was kinda wasting his time.

I'm planning on speaking to my GP first thing in the morning and go from there..

My god I just cannot stop crying 6 hours in waiting room.. damn.

Private if you can
It's the covid only nhs at the moment

BusyLizzie61 · 27/02/2021 08:01

If its endometriosis, sadly there is little they can do beyond painkillers. They're unlikely to operate as it's deemed a routine operation.

Being an endometriosis sufferer, my short term advice is to call the ooh gp. Get prescribed some longlasting painkillers to get through the weekend.

Do you have a period or ovulating?

What normally happens with the bladder retention? When did you last urinate?

Springsnake · 27/02/2021 08:02

I’m no expert, but I don’t understand why you waited 6 hours to be seen ,then left when they saw you ..I think you need that catheter in ASAP ,you need to go back

ChameleonClara · 27/02/2021 08:03

Please listen to the post about the catheter.

If you can't pee and you're not using a catheter, your pain will worsen.

Can you pee?

If not - go back after shift change and try to get a catheter fitted.

Porcupineintherough · 27/02/2021 08:03

I'm not surprised about the crying or that you feel absolutely at the end of your tether. Flowers. I am kind of worried that you didnt get catheterised.

KibeththeWalker · 27/02/2021 08:04

I don't understand why you waited so long and then left when they started treating you?

ChameleonClara · 27/02/2021 08:04

@Beaniecats

Private if you can It's the covid only nhs at the moment
Yes it is but that is not the bloody doctors' fault. The government were warned this would happen and let it happen Angry
BusyLizzie61 · 27/02/2021 08:04

If the references to ultrasound are to look for endometriosis, that's pointless. If to check for other issues on ovaries etc, then yes a good move but you would assume if deemed necessary A&E would have organised unless op has had one on the other 2 visits.

Inthevirtualwaitingroom · 27/02/2021 08:06

dont blame covid op.
you need to restore your faith in the doctors.
try meditation?
have you got pain relief?

HoneysuckIejasmine · 27/02/2021 08:09

Oh love, I know you're having a difficult time but I'm not sure refusing a catheter was a good idea. What do you actually want to do to? Yes, a scan, but that won't relieve pain. A catheter would do that whilst they figure out the root cause.

I say this as someone with endometriosis. I waited almost a decade for my pain to be investigated, multiple surgeries and treatments. But I certainly did take all the pain killers they could give me whilst waiting for various referrals to come through.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 27/02/2021 08:10

I've had similar treatment I'm afraid . No one gives a shit when its gynae related . I'd rather suffer now than put myself through that again , I was treated similarly to you and it really upset me. They didn't even have covid as an excuse 4 years ago either

giggly · 27/02/2021 08:13

Having just spent a week in hospital with a severe infection you’ve got it al wrong about COVID only that’s just ridiculous.
I also had the displeasure of listening to various patients threatening to self discharge as the “doctors weren’t listening/ not interested” when it was absolutely apparent that they were only able to offer the short term pain relief.
A&E really isn’t for long term management.
I sorry that you are in pain but what were you really expecting to happen that you didn’t get?

justamummydoingherbest · 27/02/2021 08:13

Yanbu a&e docs are uncaring bastards mostly. They could have helped prevent a medieval emergency for me a few years ago, all I got was though was 'go home to your baby. Stop wasting nhs resources' absolute cunts Angry

RaidersoftheLostAardvark · 27/02/2021 08:15

So you've repeatedly presented to AE - what did they say /do the first time? All you've said so far is that you had a full bladder & refused a catheter- so to be blunt, you did waste A&E's time here. And there is an obvious reason they aren't keen on vomiting people in A&E- if that's Norovirus you've just spread it to a lot of patients & staff.

Serin · 27/02/2021 08:15

I'm sorry you are going through this OP but you need to go back. Your bladder needs emptying.
If ever one if my family needs A and E we expect to be there the whole day. 6 hours isn't unusual at all all and it means that for 6 hours they were treating people sicker than you.

scaredofwhatswrong · 27/02/2021 08:18

You do need to go back and get a catheter - it’s routine that they send you home . Search catheter support on FB, we’re a lovely bunch and all been through the same things . You get used to it after a day or so, it isn’t as painful as you imagine and it probably would help with your belly pain .

Better a catheter than sepsis or renal failure .

scaredofwhatswrong · 27/02/2021 08:21

If you do go back; wear loose trousers, not skinny jeans, and take some wet wipes/pads with you . Bit more comfortable that way ! Ask them for some painkillers for home but I find if I sit and relax, it’s less painful - it’s movement and walking that it nips a bit . Hopefully it’s just a short term stop gap for you .

randomer · 27/02/2021 08:22

Why did you refuse a catheter? Sorry

tara66 · 27/02/2021 08:29

Can you not try to go to another hospital?

Lalliella · 27/02/2021 08:29

You need to get back there and get the catheter. This happened to DMIL, she had a bladder blockage and was in absolute agony with a massively swollen abdomen, soon as she was catheterised the difference was amazing.

sunflowersandbuttercups · 27/02/2021 08:35

I'm sorry you're in pain Thanks

But why did you wait in A&E for six hours only to refuse medical treatment and walk out?
