To ask what you’d do with £1500

Just received an unexpected windfall of about £1500. Very happy. Will probably do something sensible with it (have savings but planning home improvements).

But just to while away the hours, what would you do with £1500 this weekend if you could just spend it on yourself, and things you want rather than need?

Ragdoll kitten

AStudyinPink · 29/01/2021 21:33

Yes! Just googled it.

I always think a nice watch or handbag but it’s just a thing at the end of the day

So a holiday probably (when we can go again )

GrandTheftWalrus · 29/01/2021 21:34

Boring but baby stuff and new switch games.

S0CKS · 29/01/2021 21:34

I would book an optimistic trip for later in the year, on really good cancellation terms so I wouldn't risk loosing it = +/- £1000

I would order dinner from the slightly nicer Indian resturant +/- £35

Pop to the supermarket and get some really nice Gins £20

Leaving me with +/-£445 - I would spend this online shopping on some nice clothes.

Didicat · 29/01/2021 21:35

New electric bike, mines 10+ years old and battery is knackered.

Already got a ragdoll cat and a ragamuffin kitten. My Ragdoll would move out if I brought another kitten home.

HearMeSnore · 29/01/2021 21:37

I'd get a log burner put in.

I know technically it's a home improvement but I'm the only one in our house who wants one so it would actually be just for me.

saturning · 29/01/2021 21:37

i'd buy a really nice upholstered armchair by pols potten.

JellyBabiesFan · 29/01/2021 21:38

Chuck it in the bank I guess. If I dont want or need anything whats the point spending it?

Beetlebum1981 · 29/01/2021 21:38

I'd buy this:

djorup.net/products/wave-branch-ring-with-diamonds

It was a struggle between this & the ring I chose for my engagement ring.

OrigamiOwl · 29/01/2021 21:39

New bedroom furniture from The Cotswold Company. I've been eyeing up their website this afternoon!

Leave, please. This is a thread for frivolous, irresponsible spendthrifts. Grin

A new patio so I can sit outside with coffee and hide from the children during homeschool.

greeneyedlulu · 29/01/2021 21:41

We had a win on the postcode lottery and had air con put in.

TheCanyon · 29/01/2021 21:43

A new fanny trimmer Grin mine has just died mid cut Sad then stick the change in next year's holiday fund

sbhydrogen · 29/01/2021 21:43

I'd buy the chest of drawers that I've had my eye on for a while, and a new sideboard to house all my beautiful glassware. Both of those are things I want as oppose to need 🤣

If I could I'd get my hair done, just to add the cherry to the cake 💁🏼‍♀️

Beetlebum1981 that's beautiful, good choice!

CaramelCup · 29/01/2021 21:47

I’d replace ALL my kitchen dining stuff. I’ve had things for years, hand me downs etc..
Dining set
Cutlery
Saucepans
Serving bowls etc

CaramelCup · 29/01/2021 21:48

Just to say, my choice may seem borning. But I love cooking/entertaining (normal times)

HTH1 · 29/01/2021 21:48

If it had to be spent this weekend and we weren’t in lockdown, I would have an amazing mini break in London (staying in a lovely hotel, going to see a show and just generally spoiling myself!). Otherwise, maybe some really nice antique furniture (and a takeaway of whatever I want).

Clicketyclick21 · 29/01/2021 21:52

I'd get my living room floor sanded and varnished a deep walnut stain.

HarryDresdensLeatherDuster · 29/01/2021 21:52

SOCKS please tell me where you can get really nice gins for £20???

At the moment, my wish list includes - the Freddie's Flowers cut down vase; new bras; a Biorb fish tank; smart lounge wear for lockdown living; a Waves hot tub; a soup kettle; decent wine glasses as I keep breaking them and a set of Circulon saucepans. I reckon that would deal with most of £1.5k!

Clicketyclick21 · 29/01/2021 21:53

We were going to do it ourselves but could afford to get it done by someone else if we got a windfall.

Vivi0 · 29/01/2021 21:54

A Burberry trench.
