To ask what you’d do with £1500

Just received an unexpected windfall of about £1500. Very happy. Will probably do something sensible with it (have savings but planning home improvements).

But just to while away the hours, what would you do with £1500 this weekend if you could just spend it on yourself, and things you want rather than need?

One of the beds they use in the Premier Inn (£870 for the double), a nice headboard, new fancy bedding and whatever is left on Oodies and fluffy socks.

Botox and teeth whitening and some lasering...

Rainallnight · 29/01/2021 23:28

I love this thread.

Custom made Josef Frank bedroom curtains.

An eyebrow transplant.

Dental work.

Deereamer · 29/01/2021 23:30

I’d like a new patio set and an Indian bean tree.

Lauren1983 · 29/01/2021 23:33

I had a little windfall a few years ago and bought a sensor bin and a Dyson hairdryer.

maybelou · 29/01/2021 23:39

I honestly think I would spend the whole lot on shoes Grin But not all at once, I'd want to buy a pair every few days so the package excitement is spread across multiple weeks. Hearing the doorbell go with a parcel for me has become one the few joys of life!!

Hopeandglory · 29/01/2021 23:47

I keep looking at garden sets with a gas fire pit in the table but need a windfall to be able to afford one

There's only 1 available. I'll arm-wrestle you for it. Grin

Infra red sauna

rach2713 · 30/01/2021 00:03

I would be like a rabbit in head lights and just buy stuff I don't really need or want and then be like why did I blow that money lol🙉🙈

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 30/01/2021 00:10

Some Diptyque perfume
A mini break in a nice hotel when we’re able to, with a couple of lovely dinners
Some new jumpers for DP, his are all like rags but he refuses to buy more
A big grocery shop for loads of cleaning, freezer and cupboard stuff, so the shopping budget can go on more treaty things, and wine.

lioncitygirl · 30/01/2021 00:12

Sensible me would like probably get stuff for the house.

Irresponsible me would get a handbag.

😂

spaceghetto · 30/01/2021 00:17

£100 on craft supplies and beautiful boxes to store them all in.

£300 on a coffee machine for dh.

£50 on seeds and bulbs for our garden for the rest of the year.

£50 on new cushions for our sofa.

£100 on one of those long padded coats for me.

£100 on kitchen bits like popcorn pots for movie night, hot chocolate cups, special pudding bowls.

£50 for garden lights

£200 for garden projector

£200 for bean bags and covers so we could watch films outside.

£100 on new silk bed linen for us all

£200 on toys for ds

£50 on fresh flowers for my house

Disclaimer, i've played this like I get the money tomorrow in our current covid lockdown. It would be different in normal life!

Howshouldibehave · 30/01/2021 00:18

New patio doors!

RonaldMcDonald · 30/01/2021 00:21

Buy a small piece or Georg Jensen

ZackaryQuack · 30/01/2021 00:26

Sensible me wants to add it to savings as dh and I want a pretty good cash deposit for the next house when we sell this one next year.

I would treat myself to some nice new underwear, I've found a lot of what I have doesn't fit so well since having ds.

KeeefBurtain · 30/01/2021 00:26

I’d take the kids and leave my husband. Been squirrelling money away bit by bit for a year but a lump sum like that would be the difference between planning and doing.

JM10 · 30/01/2021 00:27

It's pretty much the exact amount of the (fully refundable) holiday I am considering booking at the moment, so probably that.

Turnedouttoes · 30/01/2021 00:30

I got this amount last week as my end of year bonus (a hell of a lot less than usual but grateful all the same)
We want to buy a house this year so sadly it went straight into savings but if I could justify frittering it I’d probably have either put it towards laser eye surgery or a really lovely designer handbag.
When I was at uni I always promised myself that with my first proper job pay check I’d buy myself a designer bag. Then I realised about all the bills that need paying before that Blush and it’s just never happened....always something else to pay or save for

Lucieintheskye · 30/01/2021 00:34

OP don't spend it straight away! Pop it in the bank and forget about it until you think of something worthwhile.

Cam77 · 30/01/2021 00:37

£1500? That’ll buy you six shares in GameStop. More than enough to be part of history.

Sue81 · 30/01/2021 00:54

Teeth whitening and a holiday for me and DD

LakieLady · 30/01/2021 01:09

New bathroom suite and tiles, and flooring if the money would stretch that far.

lovescaca · 30/01/2021 01:22

New front door Smile

yaboo · 30/01/2021 03:16

I'd buy a second-hand large kiln.
