To ask what you’d do with £1500

Just received an unexpected windfall of about £1500. Very happy. Will probably do something sensible with it (have savings but planning home improvements).

But just to while away the hours, what would you do with £1500 this weekend if you could just spend it on yourself, and things you want rather than need?

I would get anything from the Tiffany city hardware range. It's gorgeous, loads of lovely pieces in it. Plus Tiffany jewellery seems to at least double in price every ten years so in my mind a solid investment too 🙂

Put it in savings to use towards a family holiday when things go back to normal/as close to normal as possible.

DiscoStusMoonboots · 30/01/2021 10:23

I'd buy a mint green Smeg fridge or the gorgeous burnt-orange velvet sofa I've had my eye on all year (and bar anyone else from sitting on it without permission).

Fix bathroom floor if I was being boring, or pay off a bit more mortgage.
Otherwise, some Sheila Fleet Jewellery, new kitchen knives, facials and massages, thick curtains for freezing cold sitting room.

@AStudyinPink if it weren’t the tax bill I’d buy a sofa!

VestaTilley · 30/01/2021 10:51

Book a holiday.

But I wouldn’t actually in this climate, I’d put it all in my savings.

I'd upgrade my phone. Nothing wrong with the one I have but I love a shiny gadget and I'd really like to upgrade my dad to this one.

Too cold 54 .Think you might need to be as Airline Prices are bound to shoot up! Had a trip to US planned obv didnt go as many people couldnt. .When they open up again ,prices will reflect supply and demand I think!

dottiedodah · 30/01/2021 11:14

Living the good life .Not supposed to be mundane things! However we pay about £50 for our oven to be cleaned yearly .Not needing a windfall!

MondeoFan · 30/01/2021 11:27

Bramwell & Brown Weather Clock - beautiful

Lovely meal out (later in year)

Weekend Trip (later in year)

Cheap little sports car (bonus points for convertible)

@CaramelCup

I’d replace ALL my kitchen dining stuff. I’ve had things for years, hand me downs etc.. Dining set Cutlery Saucepans Serving bowls etc
God I’d love to do that. Everything I have is a hand-me-down from grandparents and parents. I’m not sure any of it is something I’ve actually chosen. It was a godsend in the early days of adulthood because it meant I didn’t have to buy anything, but I’d love my own stuff now.

Sadly I think I’d feel too bad about the environment and I’m too tight. But if it was the £1500 windfall..!

Justvisitingthisplanet · 30/01/2021 13:56

Would probably be boring and put it in savings towards deposit on first home.
If I have to spend it now I'd buy good bedroom furniture, not flat pack.
