To ask what you’d do with £1500

Just received an unexpected windfall of about £1500. Very happy. Will probably do something sensible with it (have savings but planning home improvements).

But just to while away the hours, what would you do with £1500 this weekend if you could just spend it on yourself, and things you want rather than need?

I got composite bonding on my teeth with £1500 I saved. Wouldn't recommend, they're uneven and I've been back four times.

Anystarinthesky · 30/01/2021 03:41

I would plan a holiday to Lake Bled in Slovenia.

It is so beautiful.

I went there for a day and would love to go back for longer.

CorianderBee · 30/01/2021 03:42

Now I'm boring and would put it towards a new house (3 beds cost 1mil and up here).

Or, maybe, a trip to China. Always wanted to go.

waitrosetrollydolly · 30/01/2021 04:03

@CaramelCup this is what I would do too. I did buy new cutlery before Christmas ( when I hoped there would be full family here. That didn't happen. ) I had 12 of everything from years ago, but after a few breaks etc I'm down to about 8 full place settings only but now need 16 of everything as the family grows.

atz333 · 30/01/2021 04:23

I would put it towards a new kitchen (which I'm currently saving up for).

IncorrigibleTitmouse · 30/01/2021 04:49

Either:

  • retile the bathroom and put a new bath in.
  • optimistically book a holiday and have the most marvellous time looking for and planning it.
  • buy a gorgeous piece of furniture that I’d usually find too expensive, like an Arne Jacobsen-style egg chair (I say ‘style’ because an actual one is north of ten grand...).
  • Definitely buy £50 worth of Crunchies.

So I will have £1,450 for the other things.

DramaAlpaca · 30/01/2021 05:07

I have everything I need so I'd spend it on a total luxury. I'd buy a Mulberry handbag.

ZaraW · 30/01/2021 05:24

I'd put the money towards a decent electric bike.

intheshallows · 30/01/2021 05:27

Mulberry amberly handbag here! (I even have the colour picked out 😊) Not sure what I'd do with the rest- properly fritter it away at Anthropologie.

Bookwords · 30/01/2021 05:33

Book a (refundable) holiday!

Thailand or India.

DramaAlpaca · 30/01/2021 05:40

intheshallows it'd be a Mulberry Bayswater for me, a small one in a bright colour. Lovely Smile

SuperCaliFragalistic · 30/01/2021 06:01

A lovely big comfy sofa. Mine is too small and groans when we sit on it. Or I would pay for decorators to paint the entire house. I really can't face doing it myself...

Bookwords · 30/01/2021 06:30

@DramaAlpaca they're on sale, you could get two!

user1483387154 · 30/01/2021 06:34

haircut, massage and beauty treatments and an all inclusive holiday * if we werent in lockdown

Pleaseaddcaffine · 30/01/2021 06:38

Iceland trip with a hot tub to watch northern lights or a cruise of the ffords. Just for one so I could have some peace after being with my family every hour or evry day (I love them, just need a bit of space)

Oysterbabe · 30/01/2021 06:45

We just booked a week break for the first week of June for about that. (UK and we'll get a refund if Covid doesn't allow it)
I'm really, really looking forward to it 🤞🤞

Frazzlefrazle · 30/01/2021 06:53

Oh we are in similar situation!

(It's actually going into savings for our disney holiday in August however...)

If it was just me on my own I think I would be picking between a piece of jewellery, fancy bag or an amazing coffee machine. I would probably get a coffee machine and a new ring.

maddiemookins16mum · 30/01/2021 07:13

A garden makeover 😊

louisejxxx · 30/01/2021 07:16

Probably a holiday, or we need a new set of bedroom furniture including bed frame and mattress so possibly that.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 30/01/2021 07:20

I've got money aside to buy a piano. This would bring me to amount I need! I havent actually found a space for it in my house but oh well

AStudyinPink · 30/01/2021 07:30

OP don't spend it straight away! Pop it in the bank and forget about it until you think of something worthwhile.

Screw this. I’m buying a horse. Wink

It’s actually going on the house.

I’ve always wanted to fly business class. So many cheap flights to Europe right now with BA for silly money but I daren't risk my own money on a flight that might not happen but I’d chance it for later in the year if the money didn’t matter.....

Iceland, Italy, Cyprus.....anywhere actually

WeirdLoverWilde · 30/01/2021 07:37

I would buy a beautiful guitar. A Fender American Pro Jazzmaster in surf green

Monkeytennis97 · 30/01/2021 07:39

Save £750
Put £750 into overpayment of mortgage

Boring I am

PopsicleHustler · 30/01/2021 07:43

I'd treat us to a weekend away once things are better.

Or new rugs throughout the house and some clothes for my 5 children, myself and my gorgeous hunk of a man
