Yes, it is fascinating.

Continuing on from the Nazi scientists in the USA - isn’t that the whole premise of the Amazon tv show with al Pacino, that a lot of nazis moved to the USA and were protected?

See also - extreme right wing. It’s touched on in the movie blackkklansman, that an investigation into the KKK was shut down. There has also been something that came out today where the department of homeland security has had to issue a bulletin about the terrorist threat from right wing groups, but under Trump they had had to downplay the threat or not mention it —because he was their leader—

Thanks for the new thread @Sbowiegirl

Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone to shoot JFK.

Dr Kelly committed suicide.

Jason collier is just a made up story on Facebook to distract us all from the boredom that is Covid

Yes @Absy it’s called hunters

I’m not sure if this counts as conspiracy but the Harry/James Hewitt posts have reminded me about doppelgangers - people that are the very double of total strangers. Some of the rioters in the FBI pics from the Capitol could double for some of my friends - I wonder if anyone’s ever been arrested for this!

HalfGirlHalfCake · 28/01/2021 17:17

The government has been conducting secret experiments where they remove the brains of citizens and then they study the impact. The biggest issue they have seen so far is an increased tendency to believe conspiracy theories

Whatdoyoudowhendemocracyfails · 28/01/2021 17:17

@Absy in The Motorcycle Diaries when he’s trying to find barns to sleep in Che Guevara meets an old Nazi, it was quite well known that Argentina had taken them in.

I know next to nothing about David Kelly as was out of the country when it happened but I heard that his wife is convinced he committed suicide and is unhappy about the theories. If it wasn't for that I would be open to the idea but generally loved ones who feel that a wrong has been committed don't stop until they find the truth. So on that alone I suspect he probably did commit suicide. In a strange way I think there are parallels with the Duchess of Cambridge nurse. It is horrible being in the spotlight and can feel relentless.

When we toured the FBI building on DC we were shown a board of America's Most Wanted and asked if we recognised anyone. When we laughed the guide said it's surprising how often someone is recognised by a visitor. We once knew a family in which the son was the image of the father, everyone commented. He was however no blood relation, he was from his mother's previous relationship and nothing like his biological father.

Nazi scientists moving to the USA after the WW2 is in no way a conspiracy - it happened and the US didn't "turn a blind eye", they actively encouraged it.

The space programme built on the V2 rockets that smashed up London in 1945.

As for the rest of the theories on here, I think they're all nonsense. Although I am currently reading a book where the premise is that the 9/11 attacks were engineered by companies that would do well out of wars in the Middle East. That does not seem far fetched and would explain odd behaviour on the stock market.

My personal favourite conspiracy is that Amazon started the pandemic so that everyone would buy stuff from them online.

The Boys From Brazil was a chilling film.
It's well known that many Nazis found their way to South America. Adolf Eichmann was snatched from Argentina by Mossad,

I should say "co-engineered with OBL" and does not seem that far fetched. The book is a work of fiction.

LetItGoGo · 28/01/2021 17:33

Wernher Von Braun was the rocket scientist who ended up in USA. I think I remember his photo up in a Cape Canaveral exhibition.

There's no conspiracy about it.

LetItGoGo · 28/01/2021 17:41

There is a story / myth that Adolf Hitler spent time in Liverpool between the wars.

His (half ?) brother did live there and his sister in law claimed he stayed with them in a memoir. Beryl Bainbridge wrote a novel based on the tale.

Daftasabroom · 28/01/2021 17:43

While it's easy to laugh at conspiracy theories they can have serious consequences, whether that's Qanon inspired violence, alternative facts and fake news, or simply shifting debate away from potentially damaging technologies such as AI, 5g, nano, GM, robots and automation etc.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 28/01/2021 17:45

They have found buildings in Argentina with contemporary Nazi artefacts so it is highly likely some senior Nazis were there.

Absy · 28/01/2021 17:51

I have relatives in Georgia, one of which started posting stuff about the plandemic video. At that point I cut contact because I just couldn’t deal with it.

LetItGoGo · 28/01/2021 17:55

It's been really shocking these past months seeing how far and wide this stuff is now reaching.

I met some people with eccentric views years ago but it took a bit of effort! And over time even the more plausible ones will slip up.

Now it's got to a whole new susceptible population out there via the internet. Where the nonsense can look kind of professional and no so obviously loopy.

HalfGirlHalfCake · 28/01/2021 17:57

The Queen died about 20 years ago and was replaced by a robot. Which means robot Queen will never die and Charles will never become King

MollyButton · 28/01/2021 18:11

Doppelgangers : When touring in Germany we visited a castle in Munich where there are the portraits painted by "mad" King Ludwig's Grandfather of his mistresses. One of them was exactly like a girl I taught science to in the UK - maybe she was a distant descendent but they certainly looked very similar.

Of course lots of Nazis ended up in the US and South America. That is a well known fact. The ones the Russian's got their hands on on the whole hand any useful information extracted and then were killed - but that is not surprising if you look at the horrendous death total of the Soviet people in WWII.

Beketaten · 28/01/2021 18:12

Here's an older royal baby conspiracy theory you may not have heard - the warming pan baby! It was alleged that Mary of Modena (wife of James II or VII of Scotland) did not give birth to a live son in 1688, but had one smuggled in to her chambers, hidden in a warming pan.

www.futurelearn.com/info/courses/jacobites/0/steps/27725

James and Mary were Catholics and not expected to have a male heir, or at least the Protestant majority hoped they would not and the throne would pass to James's Protestant sister, (also called) Mary.

It's apparently the reason why until recently the Home Secretary would attend all royal births to make sure there was no doubt who had given birth to whom.

To return to the Pentagon 9-11 plane issue. The recent declassified files showing actual recognisable parts of the plane aren't shown in situ within scenes inside the building. Closeups of parts, yes, but placed for photography. Interior shots of the devastation etc in no way confirm it was a plane.
