AIBU to think women should not be banned from Social media for asking the question - Thread 2

Many women have been suspended from sm for asking the question:
“Do you believe that male sexed people should be allowed access to changing rooms and showers for female sexed people and teenagers?”
Seems like a perfectly reasonable question which we should be allowed to ask.

@DialSquare

You are invalidating other people experiences too. We are people with views.
No, women aren't allowed views, close your eyes now ffs
Ereshkigalangcleg · 29/01/2021 15:49

I'm inferring that wth your clever semantics in relation to a sex change

No one calls it that any more, get with the program.

DialSquare · 29/01/2021 15:49

It's not us that's not willing. We're trying to do it now but you are refusing to and resorting to name calling instead.

AryaStarkWolf · 29/01/2021 15:49

@Ereshkigalangcleg

People don't have to accept that someone who says they 'feel like a woman' is stating a provable truth in order to know that trans people exist.

Yes, it's like saying I think Christians don't exist because I don't believe in God.

Exactly right
ErrolTheDragon · 29/01/2021 15:49

I'm inferring that wth your clever semantics in relation to a sex change, you are undermining what this means to people.

I'm not the one indulging in 'clever semantics'. What I wrote was simple and factual.
Maybe people who've undergone these interventions genuinely feel as if they've 'changed sex', and if it makes them happier and more like their 'true selves' then great. But it does not mean they have actually, literally 'changed sex'.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 29/01/2021 15:50

close your eyes now ff

Your wide, anime-style eyes.

DialSquare · 29/01/2021 15:50

Sorry Arya! I'm closing my wide eyes now!

midgedude · 29/01/2021 15:50

Sex reassignment therapy makes people look like the other sex to some degree

It doesn't actually change their sex , didn't you realise that?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 29/01/2021 15:50

Gwan gwan, why not give it a try, rather than scoring points?

Obviously I have my own ideas about why you don't.

BarbaraofKent · 29/01/2021 15:51

I have not once invalidated your experiences as a woman because I don't necessarily disagree with the changing rooms argument.

What do you mean by 'woman' in this context? What is a woman?

JoodyBlue · 29/01/2021 15:51

@DialSquare

No, I'm Barbara from Kent
Hahahahaha - someone took Barbara Grin Wine Flowers Cake
MaudTheInvincible · 29/01/2021 15:55

Telling a man he could not possibly know what it feels like to be a woman is denying trans.

Telling a woman a man has the first idea of what womanhood entails is deeply misogynist and gynophobic.

MaudTheInvincible · 29/01/2021 15:56

I'm not that arrogant.

Oh come on!

Winesalot · 29/01/2021 15:56

coherent arguments. Grin

Ereshkigalangcleg · 29/01/2021 15:57

because I don't necessarily disagree with the changing rooms argument.

Ah, so you think you also maybe should be banned from social media if you expressed this?

DialSquare · 29/01/2021 15:57

I just want to get this straight. Trans people who believe in biological reality are denying the existence of trans people? But Trans people who think they are actually the opposite sex are correct? They literally become the sex the have transitioned to? Even without any effort to transition (under stonewalls definition of trans)?

This one is for you Lurkers.

Impatiens · 29/01/2021 15:58

No. That's not the same at all and that's an offensive comparison.

You never explain yourself, just throw out comments and insults - how is it different and how is it offensive?

Winesalot · 29/01/2021 16:01

because I don't necessarily disagree with the changing rooms argument.

Oh dear.

Is this the answer to the question that we have been asking??? I don't want to get it wrong again.

MaudTheInvincible · 29/01/2021 16:02

Would you say that to someone having any other kind of reconstruction? Of course you bloody wouldn't.

In what way is the surgery undergone by people wishing to approximate the appearance of the opposite sex reconstructive?

AryaStarkWolf · 29/01/2021 16:04

@Ereshkigalangcleg

because I don't necessarily disagree with the changing rooms argument.

Ah, so you think you also maybe should be banned from social media if you expressed this?

we need a wide eye emoji
midgedude · 29/01/2021 16:06

The moment you say that a msn knows what it feels like to be a woman you are forcing me out of the class woman

Because I can only accept being a woman if it's purely a statement of biology

Anything else .., well it brings back those feelings these days are called gender dismorphia . That can get quite black . That can make me want to harm myself , to change myself to force others to see me as me without the cage of woman being applied

Thanks to the lovely people round these parts , I know I don't have to change myself and I know that anyone who leads me to think that way isn't a good person

AbsintheFriends · 29/01/2021 16:06

Blimey.

Someone has come on here and spent all this time arguing a point while simultaneously demonstrating how totally illogical it is.

Whatwouldscullydo · 29/01/2021 16:08

Has anyone called archaeologists transphobic yet?

They can tell from skeletons the bighots

JoodyBlue · 29/01/2021 16:08

@MaudTheInvincible

@MaudTheInvincible I did a quick google of gynophobic. In so doing I came across this word Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia - completely off tangent, but thought I might share. I need a bit of light relief sometimes.
