AIBU to think women should not be banned from Social media for asking the question

999 replies

Angryresister · 27/01/2021 09:13

Many women have been suspended from sm for asking the question:
“Do you believe that male sexed people should be allowed access to changing rooms and showers for female sexed people and teenagers?”
Seems like a perfectly reasonable question which we should be allowed to ask

@Impatiens

God you lot are needy. I don’t know who he is but sounds like you are describing someone who is a transvestite not a transsexual.

Does that mean you aren't going to answer the question @Fembot123? Also - as you've already been told, a transvestite/cross-dresser is classed as a 'trans' person.

I was asked for my definition and I answered you question based on my definition. Transvestites don’t identify as women.
BrumBoo · 27/01/2021 17:32

@Bambini12

Trans women are not men.

All women should be allowed to use women's spaces.

@Bambini12

Perhaps you can explain to everyone how they are women? What defines a woman outside of biology? No one else seems to know...

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 27/01/2021 17:32

Biggerthancheese absolutely.

What's even more gobsmacking is those same individuals, will enthusiastically cheerlead for young people to start taking harmful medication to prevent puberty before they're allowed to legally have perfectly working parts of their bodies removed or mutilated. To be replaced with imitation sex organs that will never work as nature intended. And never experience an orgasm. And be sterile. And woo hoo, you too could have this all before you're even 25.

It's the most horrific projection.

Quaagars · 27/01/2021 17:33

What is a man then ?
How do I know if I am one or not?

merrymouse · 27/01/2021 17:33

I didn’t say they did, I was asked for my definition not any official line.

But ‘the official line’ is what matters in legislation.

He was on the credit suisse woman of the year

Philip/Pippa does 3 days a week. Pippa also wins women in business awards based on part time identifying.

JFCO · 27/01/2021 17:34

'Female sexed people'- FFS!

BrumBoo · 27/01/2021 17:34

@Fembot123

No they aren’t transsexual.
Transphobic I'm afraid, on many levels. According to todays society anyway Wink.
ListeningQuietly · 27/01/2021 17:34

@LowlandLucky

ListeningQuietly People with a prostate are males
Absolutely. My friend is at the same risk of Prostate Cancer as any other middle aged man. Despite having lived as a woman their whole adult life.

luckily they are very open about their past
so will be getting the correct health care and checks
for their biological sex

Winesalot · 27/01/2021 17:34

ok Bambini.

What about 'female' single sex spaces? Any exceptions to transwomen using female single sex spaces?

Fembot123 · 27/01/2021 17:34

@RedDogsBeg

Whoops, you are being transphobic there Fembot123 not allowed to use transvestite and transsexual these days, just transgender. On Pippa days Phillip under the TW are women dogma is a woman because they say so and that's what you believe isn't it?
I haven’t called anyone a transphobe or a bigot or claimed to be ‘woke’ I just gave my opinion ☺️ I’ve learnt some things though so that’s nice.
SchadenfreudePersonified · 27/01/2021 17:35

@lifeturnsonadime

I said it before and I'll say it again but this issue goes beyond who gets to go in which toilets.

It is really important to be able to define the word woman in a meaningful way if it now must encompass more than people with 2 x chromosomes, which we are being told , with no debate, that it must.

If women are no longer just people with 2 X chromosomes then what are they and why? My entire belief system has been based on this biological belief, I deserve to understand what I must accept as an alternative, and why.

Because the definition of women is important.

This a thousand times.

And yet no-one seems to be able to offer a definition, other than a biological one, which isn't just a circular arguement.

Interestingly, whilst the govt allow self-ID as women for natal males with fully intact genitalia, they do not permit self-ID as men by natal females if it means they are going to inherit a title.

Funny, that.

merrymouse · 27/01/2021 17:35

Transvestites don’t identify as women.

Without wanting to get sidetracked onto Eddie Izzard, things obviously aren’t that clear cut.

DeaconBoo · 27/01/2021 17:35

fembot so your personal definition of trans excludes people that haven't undergone any physical transition? (Hormones etc)? Wow.

Fembot123 · 27/01/2021 17:36

@BrumBoo, so be it then. As I said I haven’t said anything about anyone on here being transphobic or that I’m an expert by any means, I just made the mistake of giving my opinion 😂😂😂

Wishitsnows · 27/01/2021 17:36

I don't get why this was moved from AIBU. It had over 90% in agreement with the op. Annoying.

Impatiens · 27/01/2021 17:36

I was asked for my definition and I answered you question based on my definition. Transvestites don’t identify as women.

They do when they are dressing as Women.

Fembot123 · 27/01/2021 17:36

Who aren’t undergoing it yes, wow away @DeaconBoo😘
Buccanarab · 27/01/2021 17:37

Yes it does and it is unethical. If women standing up for themselves are no-platformed. Twitter should be called out, but who is going to do and where will it be done, if public debate is conducted on that platform?

Twitter isn't the only platform or forum for discussion, we've got 28 pages of discussion here on this thread.
Further, Twitter clearly does allow for this debate to be aired as several posters have posted links to these issues being openly discussed there.

That said they've a set of clearly defined policies that say what you can and can't say/do with regards to debating things and those posters who have been banned have clearly breached that policy.

Do they..
JoodyBlue · 27/01/2021 17:37

Such a long thread, it is worth summarising some of the issues with activist ideology for women and children. I think they are: 1. the silencing of discussion, 2. the confusing communications to children 3. the blurring of sexual boundaries and the impact on safeguarding 4. the changing of the meaning of words in current use 5. the loss of single sex space 6. the insistence on the affirmation model with young people Think there are other things that need light and air, but those are key to me.

Winesalot · 27/01/2021 17:37

I was asked for my definition and I answered you question based on my definition. Transvestites don’t identify as women.

They certainly DO. In fact, the person you are referring to was awarded a prestigious Women's award. (despite only being a woman a few days a week, and generally having benefitted greatly from being a male in banking for their entire career).
