AIBU?

AIBU to think women should not be banned from Social media for asking the question

999 replies

Angryresister · 27/01/2021 09:13

Many women have been suspended from sm for asking the question:
“Do you believe that male sexed people should be allowed access to changing rooms and showers for female sexed people and teenagers?”
Seems like a perfectly reasonable question which we should be allowed to ask

Women are not human shields!

@ChattyLion

Joody totally get your inclination to look for compromise, but these are binary decisions: men in or men out of women’s spaces. Children and teenagers kept away from male adults or not.

A red flag is that the people who really want to mix adult men in among women, children and teenagers in spaces labelled ‘for women’ and while they are changing or otherwise vulnerable, can’t ever seem to explain why this arrangement would be better than single-sex spaces are, for the women, children and teenagers concerned. It’s because there isn’t an upside and there are evidenced risks so instead they resort to women budge up, women shut up, you're transphobic if you object and other silly names and threats.

the people who really want to mix gay women in among women, children and teenagers in spaces labelled ‘for straight women’ and while they are changing or otherwise vulnerable, can’t ever seem to explain why this arrangement would be better than non-gay spaces are, for the women, children and teenagers concerned. It’s because there isn’t an upside and there are evidenced risks so instead they resort to straight women budge up, straight women shut up, you're homophobic if you object ...

^ I used to hear this kind of argument growing up in the 70s. Didn’t like it then, don’t like it now. The only thing that has changed is the marginalised group that is seen as the threat.

I have never seen anyone on the GC side use that kind of language about what a Woman is. Never. Your posts are SO dishonest

Seriously?
Not dishonest at all - I know what I've seen, and maybe you haven't and fair enough if so.
It does all come down to what is between the legs for some, it's even on this thread.
But if I say it it's OMG, how can you say that, we're not just that!
I KNOW we're not, I'm not disagreeing!!

For those new to the discussion, search for the 'break it down for me' thread on FWR - it's a couple of years old but a good overview of some of the issues we wish to be allowed to talk about.

...and another thing. Women are belittled, mocked, raped, coerced, genitally mutilated, sold, prostituted, trafficked and other horrors to numerous to mention. 99% of rapes reported are unpunished. Now we are lied to that trans women are the ‘most vulnerable’ and told to give more space to men because of just their feelings. The BBC and other institutions, schools and companies are sneaking and bringing this in as ‘facts’ despite not considering or consulting the 75% of the population (51% women 24% children) that it will make less safe.

Why do you not get that some people are saying they are perfectly aware of their female biology, but sometimes it's something more at play as well?

How can I get it when I don't know what this something else is?

I keep hearing what being a woman isn't, but not much about what it is.

Just wanted to point out that the technical toilet review deadline is on Friday and the Freedom of Speech committee consultation closes on Sunday.

Both seem relevant to this discussion so thought I'd share.

@tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz

Weird how so many don't know how to define a woman.

Never a problem for people to identify which child to mutilate in the name of religion or modesty.

Also never a problem to know which person to rape.

Weirdly never difficult for pervs to know which people to "upskirt".

They must all have sort of sixth sense. So odd Confused

Mmm, its weird how everyone knows exactly not to define one for sure. Biology is offensive and not inclusive.

Personal beliefs have always been proven to be a great way to run a society, and never has serious repercussions for women, minorities, basically anyone who isn't male. Not like men use belief systems as a way of gaining power and control, using an unprovable ideology as a boogeyman to demand respect. Not happened at all.

No one has ever checked my pants at work. I wonder how they know I should get paid the cunty rate?

Seriously? And yet, do late transitioning transwomen get to keep their previously male pay rates? The ones they achieved while women fought to simply get the same opportunities?

No one said they were likely to be more of a threat than any other male.

I ALSO know that that's not all it is for me and someone else has said so too.

But you only know about having babies and periods. What other physical traits are common among biological females?

Once we get the answer to this question, we will move to the next part of discussion, for which we need these data.
