"For there is always light
If only we're brave enough to see it
If only we're brave enough to be it."

— Amanda Gorman, 20 Jan 2021, inauguration of President Joe R Biden

I hope Amanda does run for president in a few years.

BoreOfWhabylon · 20/01/2021 19:23

Well done Perking Smile

Do you think they get new mattresses in the White House? You wouldn’t want to sleep on the sweat stained, fake tan stained ones left behind!

lifeturnsonadime · 20/01/2021 19:23

Checking in, I was always a bit of a lurker on the threads as they moved too quickly for me to keep up.

So happy this evening.

PerkingFaintly · 20/01/2021 19:26

Ah no, left the poll on! MNHQ, help! Please remove it!

I kept doing that Perking! So annoying it's the default position. I had to report my own thread each time Grin

So relieved everything went well. It does feel hugely better. Onwards and upwards!

@Cacacoisfarraige

I’m very sure the mattress were replaced as soon as the trash was taken out.

I hope they the republicans can take the olive branch being extended - (apart from Josh Hawley who is tying for head knob with Rand Paul) and seems beyond reason with his new found power

I’m very sure the mattress were replaced as soon as the trash was taken out Trump and Melania left.

FTFY.

Igotjelly · 20/01/2021 19:42

Hmm those were American flags when I posted them....

Another here who would like to thank all who started and contributed to these threads!

I'm a huge latecomer but have enjoyed being educated by all you very intelligent people.

Words can't express how relieved I am to see Trump go, he was so dangerous in so many ways!

I'm so so happy everything today seemed to go without a hitch, I was seriously concerned something awful would happen but so glad nothing did!

Onwards and upwards for the USA! Grin

NotaRealLawyer · 20/01/2021 19:44

Thank you Perking, here with a lighter heart.

From Arlington Cemetery, and wreath laying at the Tombe of the Unknown Soldier - the news that, the Bidens will be looking to better support, for military families.

Building on the Joining Forces programme, started by Michelle Obama and Jill Biden.

Sleipnirthewonderhorse · 20/01/2021 19:44

I didn't realise the new president received presents from the other officials there. It's lim Christmas

AcrossthePond55 · 20/01/2021 19:44

Thanks for the new thread, Perking. And for the new direction it will take!

Zebracat · 20/01/2021 19:44

Thank you so much for this thread, and previous threads. As a mainly lurker, don’t think my opinion is worth much, but I hope we stick with one thread. Great day. Loved watching it with you. Bernies mittens, Amanda Gorman, Kamala’s smile, and Joes speech, I only noticed one folksy aphorism in it though - Mama always told me to walk a mile in their shoes. Perfect.

Sleipnirthewonderhorse · 20/01/2021 19:45

Like Christmas. doh.
