To ask what I am missing about bath bombs?

Loads of people seem to love them. I got some for my birthday and thought I would have lovely fragrant relaxing bath. So I now find myself sitting in a bath that looks like I weed in it when waking up with a serious hangover and that just smells meh. It was an expensive lush one too.

I got step dd bathbombs once for Christmas and she told me later that the santa fizzer which was white on the outside, was actually bright green inside and apparently it dyed the bath green too. I bet her mum was really happy with me after that.

What am I missing?

nothing I've always thought they were shite

FippertyGibbett · 17/01/2021 15:52

Nothing. I’m fairly sure I’ve read that there’s the possibility of cervical cancer like using talcum powder ?
Bubble bath every time 🛁

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 17/01/2021 15:53

I think they're made from bicarbonate of soda, so if you have an undyed on it should clean the bath?
Only used one once, found it quite drying - prefer a good slug of bath oil.

mistermagpie · 17/01/2021 15:53

I've never used one but just thinking about it makes me feel like I'd get thrush...

The ones with stuff like petals in them, I assume you shower afterwards or something?

Snackz · 17/01/2021 15:54

Not a fan of Bath Bombs as they don't bubble up! I love a good bubble bath Blush

HorseOfPhillipMoss · 17/01/2021 15:54

Surely it's just like bubble bath without the bubbles? You just choose a scent you actually like.
I had one yesterday that had sandalwood, shea butter, dried roses and some other things in it (Comes in a knotted muslin cloth so the bits don't end up in your bath), bath smelled nice, skin felt soft no bubbles getting all over my book, did the job.

elsaesmeralda · 17/01/2021 15:54

Don't use them I also think they'd surely give you thrush?

HorseOfPhillipMoss · 17/01/2021 15:56

How often do people on MN get thrush 😳

Lockdownbear · 17/01/2021 15:56

What's the difference between them an the bath salt square things that you got when you were a small kid?

Weirdly this one has produced bubbles. A good amount of bubbles to be fair. Its just the weird colour and lack of smell

Mine contain shea and cocoa butter, and also make bubbles, so are very moisturising - if you have dry skin on your feet they make a world of difference! My trotters are now soft and silky, as is the dry patch of skin I've had on my elbow for years! Don't need to moisturise after a bath now, so they are time saving as well :)

I'm not sure why a bath bomb would give you thrush - I've been testing loads recently so I can get the recipes perfect before I get the paperwork I need to sell them - not a whisper of thrush.

Jemimapuddleduk · 17/01/2021 15:59

I bloody love them, especially the lush ones. The bubble bars are also good. They make the bath smell gorgeous and some of them are quite moisturising too. They don’t give me thrush.

HorseOfPhillipMoss · 17/01/2021 15:59

If it's from lush and it produced bubbles, it's probably not a bath bomb...

Cheeseandlobster · 17/01/2021 15:59

My urine bath

Maybe its a bubble bar then?

I love a bath bomb.
The Harry Potter ones that revealed your HP house that were in Boots last year were fabGrin.
Im happy with any bath bomb really.
Received some Babyliss and Harding ones this Xmas. They are lovely.

HorseOfPhillipMoss · 17/01/2021 16:01

That does look a bit grim

Spied · 17/01/2021 16:01

Bayliss

Throwaway99 · 17/01/2021 16:01

Everything gives Mumsnetters thrush.

I love a lush bath bomb, the bubble bars are fab.

Spied · 17/01/2021 16:02

I'd look at that OP and see gold- not urine.

MinnieMD · 17/01/2021 16:02

Is it a bubble bar rather than a bath bomb you’re using?
Use lush bath bombs once or twice a week and choose them so I can have the scents and oils without the bubbles.
Only had thrush once in my life and it was a side effect of antibiotics, never from baths.

CrazyToast · 17/01/2021 16:03

It's just a bit of fun, smells nice and turns your bathwater a colour. That's it.

CounsellorTroi · 17/01/2021 16:04

I very rarely add anything to a bath other than myself. Don't want to sit in a bathful of chemicals.

twobrews · 17/01/2021 16:04

I don't see the appeal of bath bombs or baths for that matter, I was given some shower steamers for Christmas though and they smell lovely.

AlternativePerspective · 17/01/2021 16:05

I have no idea why anyone would want to even set foot into lush never mind buy anything in there.

Bath bombs are overrated, and don’t get me started on the ones full of petals designed to cover your skin and block the plug hole
