To ask what I am missing about bath bombs?

Loads of people seem to love them. I got some for my birthday and thought I would have lovely fragrant relaxing bath. So I now find myself sitting in a bath that looks like I weed in it when waking up with a serious hangover and that just smells meh. It was an expensive lush one too.

I got step dd bathbombs once for Christmas and she told me later that the santa fizzer which was white on the outside, was actually bright green inside and apparently it dyed the bath green too. I bet her mum was really happy with me after that.

What am I missing?

Never fancied trying a bath bomb, they just seem to make the water dirty.

Godimabitch · 17/01/2021 16:28

Sounds like you're not very good at picking Grin
I love bath bombs but usually only use half of one. I love relaxing smells when I'm bathing.

waydownwego · 17/01/2021 16:30

That picture is awful.

I also hate bath bombs and Lush. I used to walk past one of their shops on the high street and feel sick each time. Mind you, I have allergies to all kinds of perfumed crap, so I'm not their target audience.

I have grown rather fond of a bubble bath during lockdown, though. It feels like a luxury I didn't have time for beforehand. Normal bath stuff though, nothing that changes the colour of the water and/or smells weird! Epsom salts are another good alternative - they really help with aching muscles.

VanGoghsDog · 17/01/2021 16:31

@CounsellorTroi

I very rarely add anything to a bath other than myself. Don't want to sit in a bathful of chemicals.
Shame that water is chemicals then, eh?
Cheeseandlobster · 17/01/2021 16:33

Still sat in wee. Lets see how my skin feels now when I get out

Thrush?!
MN'ers get thrush from everything Grin
MoveAsideCherry · 17/01/2021 16:35

I second epsom salts and lovely for muscles without the addition of weird bits amd perfumed crap.

Silkiechickscat · 17/01/2021 16:36

I don't like them, love a nice bath foam.

Sparklingbrook · 17/01/2021 16:36

I thought MNers got thrush from wearing pants under pyjamas? The incredible 'breathing' vaginas.

GuyFawkesDay · 17/01/2021 16:37

I blooming love a butterball from lush. I don't want glittery ones, ones that dye the bath but butterball leave my skin SO soft, and smells gorgeous.

metallicker · 17/01/2021 16:41

I prefer the bubble bars to bath bombs. I like a nice smell, and find some of them leave their scent behind so I smell nice and so does the bathroom. I've had some lovely ones that leave my skin feeling really good- think they tend to have oils in them.

DD used to suffer from mild eczema and I managed to get some that really helped.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 17/01/2021 16:42

'MN'ers get thrush from everything'

Grin

I love bath bombs, the smellier and brighter the colour the better. We only had Yardley bath cubes in my youth which were very disappointing.

Sparklingbrook · 17/01/2021 16:44

I remember in my teenage years 'Bath Pearls' were a thing and you were lucky to get put of the bath without breaking your neck as it just covered the bath (and you) in oil.

My Mum used to get given the very square bath salts in gold wrapping but never used them. Very wise.

YouKnowItsTrue · 17/01/2021 16:45

Overrated for sure. I feel all slippery and slidey after a bath bomb.

I give them a wide birth nowadays.

Agree with PP who said they expect thrush Grin

Inthemuckheap · 17/01/2021 16:46

MN has invented Lush Thrush. Wink

Can't believe people actually give their money to Lush. Vile company.

Doggybiccys · 17/01/2021 16:46

YANBU OP. DD got me a Christmas one and I came out the bath looking like I’d been rolling around on newly cut grass! Took ages to clean the bath after as well.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 17/01/2021 16:49

'Can't believe people actually give their money to Lush. Vile company.'

Is it? I thought they didn't test on animals and were all ethical and environmentally aware.

Lulu1919 · 17/01/2021 16:49

I think you get what you pay for with bath bombs
I don't like the ones with bits in ....but wrapping in a muslin cloth could help that ..
I've used cheap Poundland ones and they are meh ...I was given a posh one from lush and it smelt awesome...I used it in two halves.

AvoidingNextdoorNeighbour · 17/01/2021 16:49

I used to nick my DD's Bodyshop green Tea one because it really did smell amazing without being agony on the poor sinuses. Sadly Bodyshop are no longer available to us any more since they removed all products for women or girls from their website. Turns out you can still search for men's products though..... 🤷

You know what I mean.

Mummyoflittledragon · 17/01/2021 16:50

@Spied

I'd look at that OP and see gold- not urine.
Nah definitely wee. Cant stand the buggers either. Don’t understand the point in them at all. Dd also isn’t a fan of baths.
MistleTOEboughski · 17/01/2021 16:52

Lush Thrush 😂😂😂

DrFoxtrot · 17/01/2021 16:52

The colour of your urine would make me think you're dehydrated Grin

OohThatCat · 17/01/2021 16:52

I love them, I use Lush ones all the time. Like anything else you get good ones and shit ones. I've had some amazing ones and some that look like I've taken a bath in Fanta. They also have a shelf life as I found out when trying to use a three year old one recently.

They're just bit of fun for the bath - smell nice, leave a fun colour, depending on whats in them my skin feels nice and smells nice after but I do always put body lotion on top.

They have never given me thrush or stained my bath and I use them a lot!

Regularsizedrudy · 17/01/2021 16:53

Only thing I’ve ever got from bath bombs is thrush
