To ask what I am missing about bath bombs?

Loads of people seem to love them. I got some for my birthday and thought I would have lovely fragrant relaxing bath. So I now find myself sitting in a bath that looks like I weed in it when waking up with a serious hangover and that just smells meh. It was an expensive lush one too.

I got step dd bathbombs once for Christmas and she told me later that the santa fizzer which was white on the outside, was actually bright green inside and apparently it dyed the bath green too. I bet her mum was really happy with me after that.

What am I missing?

Even Lush are a bit wishy washy about whether they are ok.

@MistleTOEboughski

Lush Thrush 😂😂😂
😂🤣
Opheliaa · 17/01/2021 16:59

I've got thrush from the ones with glitter in. I'm surprised more women don't tbh.

GeidiPrimes · 17/01/2021 17:00

I'd look at that OP and see gold- not urine Grin That sounds like a motto for life.

I used to quite like the bubble bars, but they leave a big stubborn ring of oily scum around the bath. I find bath bombs make my skin feel itchy and too tight.

Lovemusic33 · 17/01/2021 17:03

They give me thrush, in fact I can’t even walk into lush without itching 🤣. The DD’s like them though and I kind of wish I could use them.

Thirtyysomething · 17/01/2021 17:06

I’m really not a fan either. I’ve tried them a few times and never felt clean after the bath, once I ended up getting in the shower! My DD used to love them but I think it was the novelty of the fizzing and coloured water.

Fizbosshoes · 17/01/2021 17:07

My teen DD loves bath bombs. I do not love cleaning greasy, glittery, brightly coloured residue off the bath. I rarely have baths (i do have showers although probably not often enough for the standard MN ) but would prefer a bubble bath to a bath bomb.

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 17/01/2021 17:07

Lol don’t ask about bath bombs on mn
Posters here get cystitis or thrush if they drift into hygiene aisle in supermarket
They claim they can smell a scented sanitary pad at 4m

Bath bomb and their bits will dissolve

rc22 · 17/01/2021 17:07

Lush used to do a lavender one that was lovely and relaxing and didn't make too much of a mess of the bath. Lots of them turn the bath a funny colour or have petals in that you have to fish out of the water when it's time to get out of the bath. I tend to go for the bubble bars now.

I remember years ago when I still lived at home I had a shimmery Lush bath bomb that got glitter all over the bathroom. My mum was doing the shopping in Morrisons with my poor dad when she realised he had glitter all over his bald head!

ghiblifan · 17/01/2021 17:10

I have pretty severe eczema and find some of the less intense bath bombs to be the only bath and shower cosmetics that not only avoid irritating my skin but even making it feel nicer! For bath bombs I use Lush's butterball and avobath, I've used some others in the past for a bit of fun but I keep coming back to those two, though I find myself using the little bath oils the most as they're so moisturising

Thelnebriati · 17/01/2021 17:10

@Lockdownbear

What's the difference between them an the bath salt square things that you got when you were a small kid?
AFAIK those were made from Epson salts (magnesium sulphate) which is good for your skin.
ArcheryAnnie · 17/01/2021 17:14

@Cheeseandlobster

My urine bath
That's the best/worst photo I have seen all day! It's amazing. The few bubbles make it worse, somehow.
KarmaNoMore · 17/01/2021 17:15

Nothing really, apart of thrush 😁

Mumdiva99 · 17/01/2021 17:21

@twobrews I've never heard of a shower steamer. Just googled them for a look. How do you use it in the shower? Is it like soap? Or do you put them in the bottom of the shower tray?

JustAddCoffee91 · 17/01/2021 17:22

I love a bath bomb! Especially lush ones... although the ones I got for Christmas have dried my skin out a lot so I'll only use ever now and again

knittingaddict · 17/01/2021 17:25

@Spied

I'd look at that OP and see gold- not urine.
I agree. If your wee is really that colour then I suggest more hydration might be required.
Grapewrath · 17/01/2021 17:25

I use bath bombs but prefer bubble bars. Lush do a beautiful black current one.
Never had thrush from a bath bomb? Have had skin irritation from cheap radox but never a bath bomb

wellerhugs5 · 17/01/2021 17:25

Try Bomb Cosmetics Ballotin Bath Melts (I think that what they are called!). I find bath bombs dry my skin out but THESE are amazing. They smell lovely, feel like they have loads of oil/ moisturiser in them and come in gorgeous packaging (so make a fab gift).

AttackOfTheFloppyKnob · 17/01/2021 17:28

Thrush.

You're missing thrush........so much so my ds is banned from using them after what's known in our house as ' the great arse thrush incident ' 🙄

MrsSwears2Much · 17/01/2021 17:29

@CounsellorTroi take it you don't use soap when you shower either? Confused

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 17/01/2021 17:31

My brother in law, only in his 20s, always gets me a lush bath bomb for xmas. I can't exactly/ don't want to bring up the subject of my vulvodynia and there's very little that can go onto my vulva without extreme irritation Blush So it's been ongoing for several years and they usually end up chucked.

However @MyKingdomforaNameChange I'd not thought of just using on my feet!! 🤦‍♀️ That's a plan for later!! Smile

SirVixofVixHall · 17/01/2021 17:31

@Lockdownbear

What's the difference between them an the bath salt square things that you got when you were a small kid?
Nothing, except that bath cubes were more beautifully wrapped !
NeonSparkle · 17/01/2021 17:33

Not a fan of bath bombs but I bloody love the lush bubble bars! Although I’m a cheap skate and make one bar last 2/3baths by chopping it up before I crumble under the hot tap. Grin

Hotpinkangel19 · 17/01/2021 17:36

Why do people hate Lush so much...am I missing something? I love their products! They are kind to my daughter's skin, but is there a reason I should avoid it?

Chippychipcrisps · 17/01/2021 17:40

I don't see the appeal either - fun to watch them dissolve but that's it. Money pissed down the drain.
