To ask what I am missing about bath bombs?

Loads of people seem to love them. I got some for my birthday and thought I would have lovely fragrant relaxing bath. So I now find myself sitting in a bath that looks like I weed in it when waking up with a serious hangover and that just smells meh. It was an expensive lush one too.

I got step dd bathbombs once for Christmas and she told me later that the santa fizzer which was white on the outside, was actually bright green inside and apparently it dyed the bath green too. I bet her mum was really happy with me after that.

What am I missing?

Lush products stain and stink. Nasty.

diddl · 17/01/2021 17:42

Good grief!

There's a WikiHow on how to use one.

After getting out, have a shower & clean the bath!

Snackz · 17/01/2021 17:45

@Hotpinkangel19

Why do people hate Lush so much...am I missing something? I love their products! They are kind to my daughter's skin, but is there a reason I should avoid it?
@Hotpinkangel19 Personally, the smell of the shop is too much and the staff don't leave you alone. I understand they need to make sales etc but I find it very off-putting!

I was given an orange one with petals in for Christmas. I used it yesterday. I felt like I was lying in orange jelly. I stuck it out for five minutes and I’m usually in the bath for a good 30 minutes. It was just too slimy. I nearly broke my neck slipping as I got out. Then I had to pick the petals out of the plug hole and clean the bath. Finally I had to have a shower to clean the goo off myself. Not the relaxing experience I had hoped for!

I love a bath bomb, I tend to buy lavendar ones that are in a little cotton pouch type thing so you don’t get bits of lavendar floating around the bath.

I love baths though, if we weren’t on a water meter I would have one everyday. We tend to have 2/3 baths a week, we don’t use a bath bomb every time, we tend to rotate bath bomb, bath salts and petals. Tonight is a petals night.

Shodan · 17/01/2021 17:47

I had a beautiful Lush one once- it was a gift. Had multi colours and glitter and 'twas fab, although the glitter did linger...

DS2 and I made some yesterday:- epsom salts, bicarbonate of soda, citric acid, cornflour, essential oils for scent and (because it was all I had available) olive oil as a carrier. Not a nasty chemical in sight.

BumbleBiscuit · 17/01/2021 17:47

What are you missing about bath bombs? Bacteria vaginosis? 🤣

IndiaMay · 17/01/2021 17:50

I love them. Smell gorgeous, leave skin moisturized or sometimes glittery, so soft and relaxing. I actually do have to have a quick shower after though or can get thrush (dont get on with heavily scented products down there if I sit in it for ages) it's not a problem though. Just a quick shower

Smile345 · 17/01/2021 17:51

I hate them! Wink

Icenii · 17/01/2021 17:52

Am I lucky to have gotten to 43 and never to have had thrush? Didn't realise it was a big thing people got.

Belinda554 · 17/01/2021 17:52

I prefer to add oils, vitamin E, sweet almond oil, jojoba.

MUCH cheaper and my skin is amazingly soft after. You can add essential oil if you want a nice fragrance.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 17/01/2021 17:53

'We tend to have 2/3 baths a week, we don’t use a bath bomb every time, we tend to rotate bath bomb, bath salts and petals. Tonight is a petals night.'

Tmi tbh.

bouncydog · 17/01/2021 17:54

I hate them - used one once and ended up itching like mad as had an allergic reaction to it. Had to take antihistamine and shower. It left coloured grit like stuff in the bath !

Shodan · 17/01/2021 17:57

I prefer to add oils, vitamin E, sweet almond oil, jojoba.

Those are good ideas. Somehow I had cooking type oils stuck in my head Grin

We didn't do it right yesterday ( I think we put too many drops of water in) so we're going to keep trying until we get it right.

Grilledaubergines · 17/01/2021 18:02

What are you missing? A nasty bout of thrush from my memory of bath bombs.

Belinda554 · 17/01/2021 18:05

@shodan Much cheaper than jo malone etc. If you allow your skin to dry off, with minimal towelling, it’s amazing.
Wash the bath with fairy liquid after.

Lorw · 17/01/2021 18:15

Thrush 😜😂

LyndaSnellsSniff · 17/01/2021 18:23

I don’t use them often but when I do I put it behind my back to dissolve. It feels amazing!

nottomgates · 17/01/2021 18:24

I use bath bombs regularly and have never had thrush. 👍
The lush ones are the best. Dragon egg is my favourite 🤩

Icenii · 17/01/2021 18:31

I love Dragon's Egg!

ChristOnAPeloton · 17/01/2021 18:50

I’m too tight to enjoy bath bombs. No bath is worth a fiver, when I can have a 3p splash of Imperial Leather instead.

CeibaTree · 17/01/2021 18:54

I love bath bombs and so do my DC, that looks like a weird one you got - if it didn't smell of much and it turned your bath that gross colour I'd maybe complain to Lush and get a refund.

WilsonMilson · 17/01/2021 18:55

They are the work of Satan and a direct route to an instant bout of thrush!

GetOffYourHighHorse · 17/01/2021 19:01

'a direct route to an instant bout of thrush!'

The first time anyone's mentioned that Grin

MinnieMountain · 17/01/2021 19:05

I like the ones that DH’s aunt makes and gives us as presents. The fizz is fun. Don’t think I’d ever bother to buy one.
